Only God Forgives New Poster

One of the movies that everyone is talking about at the moment is Only God Forgives as director Nicolas Winding Refn reunites with actor Ryan Gosling.

This is the second collaboration between the pair and the first since the terrific Drive back in 2011.

And here is the brand new international poster for the film:

Only God Forgives International Poster

Bangkok. Julian (Ryan Gosling) runs a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. He has everything he wants for and is respected in the criminal underworld though, deep inside, he feels empty.

When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance (Vithaya Pansringarm).

Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand.

Julian’s mother Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas) – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.

Increasingly obsessed with the Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match, hoping that by defeating him he might find spiritual release… but Chang triumphs.

A furious Jenna plots revenge and the stage is set for a bloody journey through betrayal and vengeance towards a final confrontation and the possibility of redemption.

Only God Forgives is released 2nd August.

Only God Forgives is one of the movies that we are really excited about here at FemaleFirst as Ryan Gosling reunites with director Nicolas Winding Refn.

The pair proved to be a fantastic match-up when they delivered Drive – which was one of the best movies of 2011.

But this year they are back with the hard hitting Only God Forgives – a movie which will compete at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

And we have a stunning new French poster for the film for you to check out:

The Place Beyond The Pines Featurette

The Place Beyond The Pines is one of the April movies not to miss as Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper star together for the very first time.

Gosling and Cooper are two of the actors who are on their game at the moment and it is exciting to see them go head to head as two men on opposite sides of the law.

The movie sees Derek Cianfrance in the director’s chair for what is his first film since the success of Blue Valentine – a movie that also starred Gosling.

In this new featurette the director and the cast chat about the new film and the characters that they play:

The Place Beyond The Pines is a movie that is already winning over the critics and sees Cooper and Gosling give excellent performances.

The Place Beyond The Pines is out now.

What Happened to Real Men?

So a new survey has been released that says the definition of what makes a real man is changing. Now, men like to express their feminine side a little more with baking and pampering.

I don’t have a problem with men grooming themselves and attempting to make cakes, it actually shows that they want to make an effort with how they’re presented and it’s nice that they’re finally moving into the kitchen, even if it is only to throw a bit of flour around.

What I do have a problem with is how the ‘real man’ seems to have pretty much disappeared.

Since when did overly tanned, tight V-neck top wearing, HD browed men take over from the classic suited and booted man?

Seriously, everywhere you go there are V-necks starring you down in the street with a steroid pumped, orange man inside them – what is happening to the world?

What we’re in desperate need of is a man who will open doors for you, pull out your chair, carry your bags, respect you yet be the true alpha male and, obviously, looks incredible in a suit, which he must wear more than once a year I might add.

Women, we’re in a crisis and I know that I for one am sick of walking around and seeing these tangoed clones taking over.

Men, give it a break alright? Take a look at Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper or James Bond himself – Daniel Craig – and take note because they’re the blokes getting it right.

We’re not asking for much, just stop acting like such women for god sake!

Only God Forgives Red Band Trailer

We love Ryan Gosling here at FemaleFirst and he has some great movies heading to the big screen this year.

One of them is Only God Forgives, a movie that sees him reunite with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn.

The movie looks set to be bloody and brutal and show Gosling at his mesmerising best.

Check out the new red band trailer for the film:

Kristin Scott Thomas, Yayaying, Vithaya Pansringarm and Tom Burke make up the cast list and this is set to be a drama that is not to be missed.

Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation.

When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer.

Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher.

Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.

New The Place Beyond The Pines Clip

We are now less than a fortnight away from the release of The Place Beyond The Pines as Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper join forces for what is set to be one of the movies not to miss this April.

This is the first time that the pair of Oscar nominated actors have starred together and the hype around the film and their central performances continues to grow.

If you are as excited about the movie as we are then we have a treat for you as we have a brand new clip for you to check out:

The movie marks the return to the director’s chair for Derek Cianfrance – the man that brought us Blue Valentine – and he is a filmmaker that really is beginning to shine.

The Place Beyond the Pines sees Cianfrance reunite with Gosling after the success of Blue Valentine for what is turning out to be a terrific director/actor partnership.

Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne and Ray Liotta are all also on a very exciting cast list.

A mysterious and mythical motorcycle racer, Luke, (Gosling) drives out of a travelling carnival ‘globe of death’ and whizzes through the backstreets of Schenectady, New York desperately trying to connect with a former lover, Romina, (Mendes) who recently and secretly gave birth to the stunt rider’s son.

In an attempt to provide for his new family, Luke quits the carnival life and commits a series of bank robberies aided by his superior riding ability.

The stakes rise as Luke is put on a collision course with an ambitious police officer, Avery Cross, (Cooper) looking to quickly move up the ranks in a police department riddled with corruption.

The sweeping drama unfolds over fifteen years as the sins of the past haunt the present days lives of two high school boys wrestling with the legacy they’ve inherited. The only refuge is found in the place beyond the pines.

The Place Beyond The Pines is released 12th April.

The Place Beyond The Pines Poster

The Place Beyond The Pines is one of the movie that I am most looking forward to next month as Ryan Gosling teams up with Bradley Cooper.

The Place Beyond The Pines sees Derek Cianfrance back in the director’s chair as he works with Gosling for the first time since Blue Valentine.

Cianfrance has a knack for making character driven and hard hitting movies and this crime/drama looks set to do just the same.

Here is the new poster for the movie:
