From Up On Poppy Hill Trailer

I have always been a huge Studio Ghibli movie fan as they deliver the most emotional and beautiful animation movies with the likes of Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle under their belt.

From Up on Poppy Hill, which is based on the manga of the same name, is the latest project from Goro Miyazaki while legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki has worked on the screenplay.

And this is the first trailer for the movie for you to take a look at:

This is a movie that I am really looking forward to as each Studio Ghibli movie just seems to get better and better.

Arrietty UK Trailer

Now I have to admit that I am a big fan of Studio Ghibli movies, their last release being Ponyo which you really should see if you get the chance.

And the studio is back with their new release Arrietty – which is inspired by The Borrowers.

This is a story of a family of ‘little’ people. Beneath the floorboards of a sprawling mansion set in a magical, overgrown garden in the suburbs of Tokyo, tiny 14-year-old Arrietty lives with her equally tiny parents.

The house is occupied by two old ladies, who are absolutely unaware of the existence of their miniature tenants.

Arrietty and her family live by “borrowing”. Everything they have, they borrow or make from the things they have borrowed. Essentials like cooking gas, water and food. Tables, chairs, cooking utensils.

And treats – a sugar cube here, a scrap of material there. But only a little each time, so the ladies do not notice.

A 12-year-old boy, Sho, moves in the mansion while he waits for urgent medical treatment in the city. Arrietty’s parents have always warned her: “Never let humans see you.”

Once seen, little people always have to move on. But the adventurous Arrietty doesn’t listen, and Sho discovers her. The two begin to confide in each other and, before long, a friendship begins to blossom…
The movie is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, directorial debut, who is the youngest person to direct a film for Ghibli.

Arrietty is released 29th July. Here is the UK trailer for the movie:

The Borrowers Trailer

Now I’m a huge fan of the Studio Ghibli movies as they have brough some of the best animation pictures over the years such as Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle.

After the success of Ponyo earlier this year the studio takes on a more well known project as they bring The Borrowers to the big screen in animation form.

14-year-old Arrietty and the rest of the Clock family live in peaceful anonymity as they make their own home from items “borrowed” from the house’s human inhabitants.

However, life changes for the Clocks when a human boy discovers Arrietty.

The Borrower Arrietty Teaser

Now I don’t know about you but I love the Studio Ghibli movies, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and all that.

Ponyo is on the horizon and Ocean Waves made it onto DVD for the very first time last month.

But the animation studio has already announced their next project and it comes in the form of The Borrower Arrietty, an adaptation of The Borrowers.

14-year-old Arrietty and the rest of the Clock family live in peaceful anonymity as they make their own home from items “borrowed” from the house’s human inhabitants. However, life changes for the Clocks when a human boy discovers Arrietty.

Ponyo Trailer

I absolutely love the Studio Ghibli movies, Howl’s Moving Castle being a personal fave, so you can imagine my excitement at the release of Ponyo later this summer.

It’s also nice to see Studio Ghibli teaming up with Walt Disney to give this movie maximum exposure, reaching audiences that perhaps these Japanes movies never have done before.

But don’t worry about subtitles as stars like Cate Blanchett and Liam Neeson have come on board to voice the characters.

So take a look a the new trailer for Ponyo:

First Images From Ponyo

This summer sees the lates movie from Studio Ghibli hit cinema screens, am so excitied love these films especially Howl’s Moving Castle, in the form of Ponyo.
