“Kanye, I’ma Let You Finish”

So my life was absolutely made last night when I saw that Kanye West got a taste of his own medicine at the BET Awards.

We all remember three years ago when Kanye pulled that ridiculous stunt of interrupting Taylor Swifts acceptance speech for Best Video to tell the whole world that he thought that Beyonce deserved it?

Well at the BETs Jay-Z give it all back by interrupting his acceptance speech for Best Video. The look on the audiences face was priceless and everyone had a good old laugh.

To be fair, Kanye took it well and laughed along too, claiming that he only did it in the first place to have Beyonce’s back.

I can imagine this year’s BET Awards were very enjoyable to watch, for Taylor Swift especially.

New The Lorax Trailer

The Lorax is already one movie that I am looking forward to next summer – despite never being a big fan of Dr Seuss.

And as we have come to expect from animation movies now the movie boasts a super impressive voice cast that includes Danny DeVito, Zac Efron, Ed Helms, Taylor Swift and Betty White – who I just love by the way.

The Lorax is an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope.

The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams.

To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler.

Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic young boy who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Ashley, the girl of Ted’s dreams.

The Lorax is released 27th July.

Kanye West Needs His Internet Access Revoked

Kanye mate, what the hell are you on? Now we know you’re ego is probably bigger than Canada, but do you really need to share it with the entire world? Sureley after the TaylorGate scandal you would have learnt to keep your mouth shut?

Apparently not.

On his blog Kanye has spouted his latest bout of self-fulfilling drivel – in capital letters as though that makes it all the more important- in which he rambles on about how fantastic he is, and how rubbish other rappers are…

[picappgallerysingle id="6578597"]

Kanye starts by saying, “It’s funny how so many rappers get worse as their careers stretch out, but true poets get better. We will follow in the footsteps of Maya Angelou, Gil Scott-Heron and Nina Simone. They documented what was happening in culture. That is our responsibility as the modern-day artists and poets…you can always look at our works and find truth and sincerity in a world of processed information.”

Err, hello? Do you not realise you’re making yourself sound like an utter pretentious monster? But oh no, it get’s worse… “Let us soak in positive forces and look down upon those who masquerade as truth tellers.”

Is it just me, or do you think Kanye should keep these little ‘thoughts’ to himself from now on?

Grammy Award Nominations 2010 – Ruth’s Picks

Okay, so the Grammy Award nominations have been announced, and an awards list just wouldn’t be the same without me picking my favourite! So below with the list of the lucky nominees in each category, and who I’ll be betting my chocolate coins on…

Song of the Year

‘Poker Face’ Lady GaGa
‘Pretty Wiings’ Maxwell
‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’ Beyoncé
‘Use Somebody’ Kings of Leon
‘You Belong With Me’ Taylor Swift

I’m betting a coin on  POKER FACE – LADY GAGA to win – Simply because I HAVE to listen to this song before I go out on a Friday night, it really gets my dancing feet moving.

Pop Duo or Group With Vocals

Black Eyed Peas, ‘I Gotta Feeling’
Bon Jovi, ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’
The Fray, ‘Never Say Never’
Daryl Hall and John Oates, ‘Sara Smile’
MGMT, ‘Kids’

I’m betting a coin on BLACK EYED PEAS – I GOTTA FEELING to win – Another song I can’t help but dance to, regardless of if I’m in a club, my car or sat at my desk.

Best Rock Album

AC/DC, ‘Black Ice’
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, ‘Live From Madison Square Garden’
Green Day ’21st Century Breakdown’
Dave Matthew Band, ‘Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King’
U2, ‘No Line on the Horizon’

I’m betting a coin on GREEN DAY – 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN to win – not because I think it’s better than all the other albums in the running, but because I’ve been a Green Day fan since I was about 13, so I’m sticking by them.

Best Rap Solo Performance

Drake, ‘Best I Ever Had’
Eminem, ‘Beautiful’
Jay-Z, ‘D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)’
Kid Cudi, ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’
Mos Def, ‘Casa Bey’

I’m betting a coin on EMINEM – BEAUTIFUL to win – because he really is beautiful.

Record of the Year

Beyoncé, ‘Halo’
Black Eyed Peas, ‘I Gotta Feeling’
Kings of Leon, ‘Use Somebody’
Lady GaGa, ‘Poker Face’
Taylor Swift, ‘You Belong With Me’

I’m betting a coin on  BEYONCE to win – not my favourite song out of all of them, personally I prefer the BEP’s, but I think this song was amazing, and deserves the prize.

Album of the Year

Beyoncé, ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’
Black Eyed Peas, ‘The E.N.D.’
Lady GaGa, ‘The Fame’
Dave Matthew Band, ‘Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King’
Taylor Swift, ‘Fearless’

I’m betting a coin on LADY GAGA – THE FAME to win – I LOVE this album, it’s never got old… however, Beyonce and Taylor Swift have been pretty lucky with awards this year, so I reckon it will be one of them.

Best New Artist

Zac Brown Band
Keri Hilson
MGMT
Silversun Pickups
The Ting Tings

I’m betting a coin on MGMT to win – however, neither the Ting Tings or MGMT are new this year as I remember writing about them last year…

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance

Adele, ‘Hometown Glory’
Beyoncé, ‘Halo’
Katy Perry, ‘Hot N Cold’
Pink, ‘Sober’
Taylor Swift, ‘You Belong With Me’

I’m betting a coin on PINK – SOBER to win – Pink is my absolute hero, I think if I was going to be like anyone in the music business it would HAVE to be her, she is an utter legend.

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance

John Legend ‘This Time’
Maxwell, ‘Love You’
Jason Mraz, ‘Make It Mine’
Seal, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’
Stevie Wonder, ‘All About the Love Again’

I’m betting a coin on STEVIE WONDER – ALL ABOUT THE LOVE AGAIN to win – you just can’t give it to anyone else.

Do you agree?

Ruth’s Thursday Thoughts

Find out what happened when we hung out with Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber at the Manchester Evening News arena… have a sneaky peek at all out pictures whilst you’re at it too!

Apparently Katie Price Dumped Alex Reid because he was planning to propose to her on TV… but now she’s refusing to talk to him until her ITV2 camera crew turns up to film the whole ‘confrontation.’ Talk about pot, kettle & black!

Lady GaGa never fails to give us a good laugh whenever we see snaps of her out in public, especially since her outfits have gone from quirky but cool to just downright odd… and this ensemble is just the latest addition.

As everyone predicted New Moon is set to become one of the biggest movies of the year as fans flocked to cinemas this weekend. But is the movie any good? Of course FemaleFirst is on hand to give you our verdict.

Taylor Lautner has revealed that he was bullied at school because of his love for acting. But it looks like the young star is having the laugh as New Moon has dominated the global box office this week shooting the actor to even greater fame. I bet that those bullies are calling his love of acting now!

Matts Tuesday Shiner

So now we hear Kanye West is full of shame after his outburst during Taylor Swifts acceptance speech,

The rapper has come under savage criticism after he took to the stage and snatched the microphone from country singer Swift as she collected her first ever MTV VMA award on Sunday (13Sep09).

After hailing Beyonce as the true winner of the Best Female Video Award, fans and famous revelers alike booed him from the stage ,before the organisers told West to leave the ceremony.

The most interesting opinion is that of singer Pink who apparently wanted an on stage confrontation with the arrogant pompous rapper adding he wouldn’t have done that if she had been on stage….. that is a certainty he would have been picking himself up off the floor if he had been foolish enough to try.

Anyway Mr Arrogant says he needs to improve his attitude no argument there.

Whitney Houston (The all New Fully Fixed Version) is back pulling the sob stories looking for sympathy, still blaming everyone except herself well we wish her well she has a talent that should be aired

Patrick Swayze talented and loved actor sadly lost his fight with pancreatic cancer on Monday R.I.P. you will be much missed

Kanye West – Who the HELL Does He Think He Is?

Kanye West might be renowned as one of the best Hip Hop artists around, but last nights debacle at the MTV Video Music Award will have probably seen him plummet in the cool stakes.

The singer, who isn’t immune to meltdowns at award ceremonies, lept onto the stage whilst Taylor Swift was accepting the gong for Best Female Music Video and started rambling on about how Beyonce should have won!

Now I’ve got to admit that I don’t always agree with award ceremonies winners, but I wouldn’t go careering onto the stage and a) making myself look like a total ass, and b) ruining someone’s happiness.

Whilst everyone thinks Beyonce, dancing around in a white room with some bizarre glove on might be fantastic, personally I think it’s not, as Kanye put it, “The best video ever made” come on Kanye, you need to take those radiator sunglasses off, they’re playing havoc with your eyesight.

So, is it just me, or has Kanye made a right tit of himself, and do you think it’s just a bit of a celeb crush Mr West might have? Jay-Z might have had 99 problems before, but I guess it might be bumped up to 100 now?

Saturday Slice

I know Taylor Swift is getting a bit of a name for herself in the music world at the moment, but I’m not entirely sure she’s that big that she can start selling off her clothes like Ginger Spice… face it Taylor, you’re just not famous enough… and your clothes aren’t that exciting either.

It seem it’s not just her outfits are crazy, Katy Perry has been speaking out about relationships comparing men to artichokes and revealing, “How many girls have freaked out in front of their boyfriends? I suffer from Satan’s period. It’s a beast.” Err ok whatever you say Katy.

Stephen Jones is the latest designer to become obsessed with Michelle Obama and now he wants to make her a hat. Yes, this is the same man who dissed her for not wearing a hat to her husband’s inauguration, last month. Perhaps he’s had a change of heart…

Robert Donwy Jr may have returned to form with last summer’s Iron Man but it was his performance in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that really marked his return and it’s thins week’s hidden gem.
