Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close – Shooting In NYC

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close was nominated for a Best PIcture Oscar earlier this year and now it is about to be released on DVD & Blu-Ray

The movie is a big screen adaptation of the Jonathan Safran Foer novel of the same names and brings together Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock while introducing us to Thomas Horn.

The movie is set in New York and in this latest featurette the guys behind the movie reveal that they wanted to shoot the city in a very different way to how we have seen it before.

Eleven-year-old Oskar Schell is an exceptional child: amateur inventor, Francophile and pacifist who sits somewhere on the autism scale. After the tragic and disturbing death of his father, who died in the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11, Oskar finds a mysterious key that belonged to his father with a single cryptic name written on it.

His inquisitive nature and inventive imagination sends him on an urgent, secret search for answers. Whilst racing through the five boroughs of New York City, Oskar encounters a variety of individuals who are all fellow survivors in their own way.

Oskar’s mission leads him to uncover life-changing family secrets and ultimately provides him with the enriching and cathartic solace of community and belonging.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is released on DVD & Blu-Ray 11th June.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Trailer & Poster

There is already a fair bit of hype surrounding this movie, and this is the first that we have had to take a look at a trailer from the Stephen Daldry directed movie.

Already this film has been surrounded in some Oscar whispers, which is not surprising when you have the likes of Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks; who have three Oscars between them, on the cast list.

Oskar (Thomas Horn) is convinced that his father (Tom Hanks), who died in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre, has left a final message for him hidden somewhere in the city.

Feeling disconnected from his grieving mother (Sandra Bullock) and driven by a relentlessly active mind that refuses to believe in things that can’t be observed, Oskar begins searching New York City for the lock that fits a mysterious key he found in his father’s closet.

His journey through the five boroughs takes him beyond his own loss to a greater understanding of the observable world around him.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is released 3rd February 2012.

Larry Crowne Clips

Tom Hanks is back in front of and behind the camera this week with his new movie Larry Crowne.

This is a first directorial outing for Hanks since he directed an episode of Band of Brothers back in 2001.

It’s also been some time since we have seen Hanks on the big screen – apart from lending his voice to Toy Story 3 last year Angels & Demons was his last movie.

Until he was downsized, affable, amiable Larry Crowne (Hanks) was a superstar team leader at the big-box company where he’s worked since his time in the Navy.

Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start over.

There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves – often moving around town in a herd of scooters.

In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

Larry Crowne is out now – take a look at some clips from the movie:

First Larry Crowne Trailer

You don’t see Tom Hanks on the big screen for nearly two years, yes his last movie was Angles & Demons – Toy Story 3 doesn’t count, then he comes along with Larry Crowne which he wrote, starred in, directed and produced.

The movie sees him reunite with Julia Roberts, the pair starred together in Charlie Wilson’s War, as he takes on the loveable everyman Larry Crowne.

When Larry Crowne (Hanks) is inexplicably fired from his job as a big box store clerk, he realizes it’s time for some meaningful change in his life.

Deeply in debt and without direction, he returns to college where he befriends a group of scooter-riding students and eventually develops a real affection for his beautiful speech class instructor, Mercedes Tainot (Roberts).

Charming and smart, “Larry Crowne” reminds us of life’s small surprises. Sometimes clouds really do have a silver lining.

It’s also about the power of new beginnings like the time Larry Crowne, an ordinary man with a gentle heart, was forced to downsize his world… and ended up expanding his life.

Larry Crowne is released 1st July. Take a look at the first trailer for the movie:

Toy Story 3 Storyboard Images

Toy Story 3 has been not just the biggest animation movie of the year but one of the biggest movies of the year as it broke through the $1 billion barrier this summer.

Yes after an eleven year hiatus Woody, Buzz and co were back and they were bigger and better than ever as Pixar produced it’s finest movie to win over the critics as well as cinema audiences.

The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it’s up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren’t abandoned and to return home.

And the guys are back next week when the DVD hits the shelves, who is having it for Xmas? So we have some lovely storyboard images for you to take a look at.

Toy Story 3 is available on Disney Blu-ray and Disney DVD 22nd November.
