What Happened to Real Men?

So a new survey has been released that says the definition of what makes a real man is changing. Now, men like to express their feminine side a little more with baking and pampering.

I don’t have a problem with men grooming themselves and attempting to make cakes, it actually shows that they want to make an effort with how they’re presented and it’s nice that they’re finally moving into the kitchen, even if it is only to throw a bit of flour around.

What I do have a problem with is how the ‘real man’ seems to have pretty much disappeared.

Since when did overly tanned, tight V-neck top wearing, HD browed men take over from the classic suited and booted man?

Seriously, everywhere you go there are V-necks starring you down in the street with a steroid pumped, orange man inside them – what is happening to the world?

What we’re in desperate need of is a man who will open doors for you, pull out your chair, carry your bags, respect you yet be the true alpha male and, obviously, looks incredible in a suit, which he must wear more than once a year I might add.

Women, we’re in a crisis and I know that I for one am sick of walking around and seeing these tangoed clones taking over.

Men, give it a break alright? Take a look at Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper or James Bond himself – Daniel Craig – and take note because they’re the blokes getting it right.

We’re not asking for much, just stop acting like such women for god sake!

Mad Max: Fury Road Image

To say that the FemaleFirst office love Tom Hardy would be a bit of an understatement and we are excited for the release of Mad Max: Fury Road.

Yes the British actor has just finished filming on the latest addition of the Mad Max franchise and he will he will take on the role of Max Rockatansky.

He is joined on the cast list by Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz and NIcholas Hoult while George Miller is in the director’s chair.

Miller has directed the three previous movies in the Mad Max series and is returning to the franchise for the first time since Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome 1985.

And we have an image of Hardy from the movie that he signed and gave to the crew at the end of the shoot:

New Lawless Clip

Lawless is one of the movies that should not be missed this week as Tom Hardy teams up with Shia LaBeouf for the first time.

The pair will play brothers in the adaptation of Matt Bondurant’s novel The Wettest Country In The World – a prohibition gangster story.

And we have a new clip from the movie for you to take a look at ahead of the movie’s release on Friday:

John Hillcoat is in the director’s chair for the movie while Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce are all on the cast list.

Set in the 1920s prohibition-era America, Lawless is the true story of the Bondurant brothers. Brazen and fearless, these young rural bootleggers became legendary criminals.

The youngest brother, Jack (LaBeouf) is ambitious and impulsive, the middle brother, Howard (Jason Clarke), is loyal but reckless and eldest brother, Forrest (Hardy), leads the family with a silent determination.

As the Bondurants’ illicit business and legend grows, so too looms the danger of bigger fish, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences.

Lawless is released 7th September.

The Dark Knight Rises New Banners

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be one of the biggest movie events of the year and there is now only a couple of weeks to wait before the final explosive instalment hits the big screen.

Sadly it will be Christopher Nolan final Batman movie but, if the trailers are anything to go by, it is set to be the biggest and the best.

Christian Bale is back to fight evil once again and this time he is facing the might of Bane, played by Tom Hardy as the Brit actor reunites with his Inception filmmaker.

And it is quite the Inception reunion as Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard are both on board while Anne Hathaway takes on the role of Catwoman.

And we have a host of new banners for you to take a look at:

The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July

Charlize Theron’s Buzz Cut

Charlize Theron has finally revealed the full effect of her buzz cut after hiding it under hats for weeks.

She’s chopped her lovely blonde locks off for her role in the new Mad Max film in which she will star opposite Tom Hardy (lucky, lucky, woman) and I couldn’t commend her more.

I would never ever shave my head, and I don’t think many other women would either, so it’s super brave of her to do it and, thankfully, she actually suits it.

To be fair, she could have hair like a troll and she would still look good, so it doesn’t really surprise me that she looks good with no hair.

I think it’s safe to say that you shouldn’t try this buzz cut thing if your hair is your best feature, or if you have a pointy head. Not a good look.

Awesome New The Dark Knight Rises Posters

The release of The Dark Knight Rises creeps ever closer and new posters have just been released so everyone can get a little bit more excited.

D.C. Comics is set to head to head with Marvel this summer as Avengers Assemble has laid down one hell of a benchmark at the box office already this summer.

But The Dark Knight broke $1 billion four years ago and this third and final instalment promises to be the best yet.

Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway take on the role of Batman, Bane and Catwoman this time around and here they are in all their glory.

The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July
