Btw,

Envy:

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/envy/#1.3

Envy can be benign and positive, and is often misunderstood. I see no problem with respect for, interest in, or benign envy of another country or culture.
.

That is a very good definition of envy. However, that is not the meaning list in the O.E.D, so sorry it doesn’t count. We'll have to get our person who studied Classical history in on that one.

you're only as smart as a dictionary is what you're saying Laughing poor thing. the world is much more complicated than one line definitions. people that are beyond your level intellectually see things in a different way, often without even realising that a difference in understanding exists. i suppose the reciprocal situation goes for people of lesser intellect, too.

No, what I'm saying is your meaning is not recognised the by dictionary. Therefore it is not standard. Do brush up on your comprehension. And I am as smart as my dictionary as it has a new sleeve.

This jealous bitter brit is really thickheaded and uneducated. He's totally hijacked the thread with his stereotyping an entire country made up of many cultures, religions, etc..
