| Apparently it's caused by sleep apnea when you stop breathing for a bit. It's common with kids, in my deams I had to hold my breath and flap my arms! |

I used to have flying dreams a lot when I was a child. I could somehow "will" myself into the air and get quite high, well above the rooftops. It was always in my local neighbourhood, too. I can't recall whether I ever learned to land but I remember that I didn't always have complete control and I would sometimes swoop down and have to do a whole lot of "willing" to get myself back up.
Apart from that, they were pleasant dreams and they were also rational in the sense that people on the ground would be amazed that I could fly unaided. I know that I often used to wake up laughing at them. |
