Such a stupid piece of nannying. I can see they would increase safety on a motorway or fast road, but for popping down to the shops? You wouldn't even be able to offer someone a lift unless they had one. And what is it about continental drivers that they cannot spot a broken down vehicle by the roadside unless there is a warning triangle? Such drivers shouldn't be on the roads.
