CNN NEWS: Stolen Baby Identified - ADOPTIONS - OH MANGIE

Postby Guest on Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:08 am

Just in case anyone still wonders - this is how drug addict Jolie who was locked in a mental institution at some point with various issues, cutting issues, contemplating suicide and claiming she hired someone to kill her, how a person like her was ALLOWED to adopt 3 children when she would NEVER have the credentials to do it in the US or any country with laws that protect the less powerful and disadvantaged.

Read the story below if you have still any questions HOW Jolie fast-tracked her adoptions, how she lied that the babies were orphans and yet NOT ONE OF THEM is really an orphan.

Read the story to feel proud for the kind of world we live in, were stealing and selling babies is nowdays AN INDUSTRY that feeds the needs of the rich and famous and abuses the rights of the poor and not famous.

Why Jolie didn't set up a charity to help legal adoptions? To help mothers who are searching for their stolen babies? To help poor African woman with just donating 100 dollars per year to keep their precious babies.

Do loons understand that Zahara's mom desperately tried to keep her baby but when there was no food for the baby and her she had to give up her own baby? Do loons understand the tragedy of someone not being able to give a slice of bread to their precious baby? Do loons understand the mother's struggle to survive and keep her baby with her? Do loons understand that just one pair of Jolie's shoes could help Zahara's mother feed the baby for a year?

CAN THE WORLD UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS ANOTHER KIND OF GENOCIDE? Can the loons understand that IF JOLIE WAS A REAL HUMANITARIAN she could donate 100 dollars per year to help Zahara's mom get a job and support her baby? Can the loons understand that there ARE real orphans who need families but Jolie has to choose the best good looking kid and it doesn't matter if they are not orphans just children of poor parents?

WHAT A DISGRACE FOR ALL OF US.

Stolen baby linked to Guatemala adoption system

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/07/23/guatemala.babies.ap/index.html

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) -- Adoption officials said DNA tests indicate a Guatemalan baby reported stolen from her mother was being adopted by a U.S. couple, the first strong sign that the Central American nation's troubled adoption system relied in part on abducted children.

Authorities have long believed that children were stolen or bought to supply Guatemala's US$100 million-a-year adoption industry before thousands of pending adoptions were frozen in May.

Previously, dozens of mothers reported stolen babies, and at least two were found in orphanages, although they had not yet been put up for adoption.

But adoption officials revealed to The Associated Press on Wednesday that DNA tests identified toddler Esther Zulamita, who was reported stolen on March 26, 2007. The girl was in the process of being adopted by an unidentified U.S. couple.

Jaime Tecu, director of a team of experts reviewing all pending Guatemalan adoptions, said the DNA test results represent the first time officials have directly linked a baby reported stolen by its mother to the fraud-plagued adoption system.

"This is the first time that we've been able to show, with irrefutable evidence, that a stolen child was put up for adoption," Tecu said.

The baby's mother, Ana Escobar, said armed men locked her in a storage closet at the family's shoe store north of Guatemala City and took the 6-month-old.

"When I got out, my daughter was gone," she told the AP in an earlier interview about the case.

She spent months searching hospitals and orphanages, looking for the child.

In May, Escobar says she was sitting in the National Adoption Council's offices, hoping to get access to the babies whose adoption cases were being reviewed. She looked up and saw a toddler who looked like her baby.

The image of the child being carried by an official haunted her, and she asked officials to see more photos. Soon she was sure the baby girl was hers.

All of the girl's papers were in order, including DNA tests showing that her birth mother was someone other than Escobar. But Escobar convinced officials to take new DNA tests.

"She was so sure that the child was hers that we agreed to search the house where the baby was kept," Tecu said.

The baby was placed with a caretaker while her adoption was pending, but Escobar convinced a Guatemalan judge in May to let her care for the child while the new DNA tests were performed.

"I can't explain how excited and happy I am," Escobar told the AP on Wednesday. "It's a miracle."

Tecu said officials will investigate the lawyers who handled the adoption, the doctor who signed the falsified DNA tests, and anyone else associated with the process.

"This was run by a mafia, and we're going after them," he said.

Guatemala froze all 2,286 pending adoptions in May, and officials are reviewing each case to confirm there is no fraud.

At the same time, Guatemala is just starting to adopt babies under a new, more stringent system run by an independent adoption commission.

Before the reform, foreign couples, mostly from the U.S., paid up to US$30,000 to adopt children.

The previous system was so quick and hassle-free it became the second-largest source of foreign babies to U.S. couples after China.

well when you are out buying babies you want it to be 'hassle free'
you don't want your conscience stung by the FACT that your baby might not be an orphan and might have mother who is dying emotionally because their baby was stolen to furnish YOUR need to have a 'hassle free' addition in the 'right season'

quick before adoption isn't 'cool' or 'magnanamous' enough

you've bought all the other accesories, 'hassle free' so why wait for the actual baby

People who are prepared to pay cash for a kid from a questionnable source are jut as responsible IMO as HW stars who do the same.

mangie , mangie , mangie
when will you ever learn that just because you can doesn't mean you should

I am so happy for this mother. So happy for her. Can anyone imagine her pain, her struggle?

She had to fight corruption, people not believing her, DOCTORS WHO FALSIFIED DNA RESULTS, going to hospital and adoptions agencies for months, and a multimillion mafia and industry.

What an upliffting story. What a triumph of the common man against money, corruption, power, abuse.

This mother is a hero, a real hero, the true meaning of what the word MOTHER means. Going to the end of the world to protect your children. Fighting the biggest imaginable enemies to keep your children safe.

Mother of the year Jolie? Please with the Hollywood fake titles. ENOUGH. Shopping for children as if they were Prada products and throwing them to nannies has nothing to do with what MOTHERHOOD means.

And one has to say a huge thank you on our behalf to those people who work in organizations trying to find lost and stolen children. People who are underpaid but are doing a holly job, helping the disadvantaged who are robbed of their more precious thing in life - their babies. People who work in really bad conditions, probably endangering their lifes fighting these mafia networks, just to help a mother like this. Now if someone is going to be called a HUMANITARIAN is these people because they DO CARE FOR OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. They DO PROTECT OTHER HUMAN BEINGS' RIGHTS WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE THE MEANS, THE KNOWLEDGE, OR THE MONEY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES.

Strangely enough, that quoted above reminds me of the plot of The Changeling, or whatever it's called now. Is that ironic, or what??

2 weeks ago I was fortunate enough to catch this HBO documentary about the "STOLEN CHILDREN in CHINA". It was an eye opener and a real human crisis and tragedy in their country. Since their "one child family law" to curb the Chinese overpopulation it just opened a pandora's box of crimes against children and families.

In China, by law they are only allowed one child esp. poor families, subsequent pregnancies are heavily fined so the poor parents either sell their babies, discard or give them away esp. girls, but boys are highly prized and desired.

But since it has been lucrative and there is a market (local and foreign) for these babies and children, kidnapping, human trafficking and child prositution have been on the rise. Watch it if you can and weep with the parents who are still searching for their children.

So really, before we glorify these celebrities who are in the frontline of "saving" children from poverty and the "third world" environment we have to ask this question, are they really helping the problem or adding to it?

Thanks BA for starting this relevant thread.

Just before or just after she bought Pax and they were yammering about adding another one soon, wasn't Guatamala mentioned as her nest purchase place? I remember reading something like this story and wondering if she was ahead of the reform or not!

I want to think it was before, because she suddenly took off for Vietnam instead?

Jolie and Pigg yes Pigg will finally come down through the adoptions. It will be what will destroy them. That would be the ''scandal'', not the split up, the custody, the money, Aniston, another man, woman, or whatever.

And I can hardly wait for the moment that happens. Just can't wait for the magazines to finally shut up worshipping rich and famous addicts and low lifes whol steal poor people's children only to use them as publicity props and photoshoot items.

Spread the word good antis. You are all fighting the good fight.
