Yeah... Ghengis Khan, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Mugabe, Saddam Hussein, Aileen Wuornos, Jeffrey Dahmer, Michelle Obama...

She's certainly in good company with some serious badasses there.

Lena, that's not fair or correct. It doesn't matter what is said about the Obama's, there is gonna be someone to turned, twisted, spinned and labeled it racism, even when it is not the intent.

I wonder if he gets elected, if late night TV and comedians will be able to do what they've always done without the person being labeled as a racist. Jokes about politicians are part of it but it seems that the Obama camp is having a little trouble dealing with this. All of the sudden people are scared to say anything in fear of being labeled a racist. Why should they be treated any differently?

Yesterday when Fred called Obama a boy and explained what he meant by that when he wrote it, Obama as a child in politics, it got twisted into a racism thing by a couple of people. You remember.

Who are the real racists when picking out these things and treating them differently from anyone else?

Who are the real racists?

The following clips are all concerning FoxNews excerpts:

It's easy enough for the Republican party to claim that these aren't really their people, and for Fox to claim they are "independent" commentators, but how many observers are going to believe that nonsense - at the end, it is all still part of the conservative election campaign...

The question you should be asking yourself is...

If Michelle was not a woman with a different ethnicity than those that had gone before as the wives of presidential candidates, would she be getting the same kind of press and attention?

I can't remember the wives of any presidential candidate e.g. Nixon, Carter, Bush Snr., Reagan, Bill Clinton or Bush Jnr., getting the same kind of press and attention before the electorate had even had a chance to vote.

Exactly, what's so different about Michelle Obama from the other wives before her, if it has absolutely nothing to do with her race?

Other than her mouth and what she said about never being proud of her country as she was 'when' ..... nothing is different. What is your point?

You nor anyone else is going to get treated differently from me because of the color of your skin. Period!

My point is... were all the other presidential candidates wives all as good as gold? i.e. Is Michelle an exception in all of America's history?

Did any wife ever utter a "wrong statement" or made an outrageous gaff before/during a presidential election? If they did - and I can't believe in the whole history of America another wife hasn't - then were they also lambasted and pilloried by the media and American public in exactly the same way as has happened to Michelle?

For me Michelle has gained an extraordinary amount of column inches and mud thrown her way and she's just the presidential candidate's spouse.

No matter how important you think the potential First Lady is, that's basically all Michelle is at the moment... the potential First Lady.

That can quite easily be sorted out on election day, so that she'll never set foot in the White House with that exalted title.

But if you or anyone have got stories of other potential First Ladies being crucified in the media to this extent before an election, then I'd be glad to hear them. As you've pointed out on many an occasion I don't live in America so maybe this kind of treatment is de rigeur for potential First Ladies?

In elections people say crap all the time. I just can't see why Michelle's crap seems to be bigger than everybody else's?

It's the crap that people say in private whilst maintaining a publicly bright and shiny façade that will always worry me more.

I don't think "her crap" is bigger than everybody else's. She's in the race too. I know you don't like this saying but it's part of it... "All is far in love, war and politics." AND... If she can't take the heat then she needs to get out of the kitchen.

And you are right, she is only a potential First Lady as is her husband, a potential President and he is in Europe speaking on behalf of America? NO No no. He is messing up. That's arrogant behavior and you will see that it will back fire on him. President's speak in foreign countries, NOT presidential candidates.

They bring up valid questions.
Why is she NOW proud of the country she was raised in?

Sounds like she is a true disciple of Reverend Wright!

What would you think of Mrs. McCain if she said "Now, I am finally proud of America"?

I'd be wanting to bitch slap the egotist. It would completely turn me off to her and it would affect the way I viewed McCain as well.

And rightly so.
Which goes to show that the FOX position is correct and non-racist.

I didn't watch the Fox links posted. Too early in the AM for Fox. I answered the way I feel and think about your question.
