I'm not posting this to talk about Sarah Palin's daughter. There are already a number of threads dedicated to that. I thought the reference to Angelina Jolie in this article was worth the post.

St Paul, Minnesota - Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, mingling at the Republican National Convention Monday night, became visibly emotional when talking about the newly revealed pregnancy of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's teenaged daughter.

The star of such acclaimed movies as Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance and Coming Home, has had a difficult relationship with his own daughter, paparazzi favourite Angelina Jolie.

Voight quickly attracted a swarm of reporters on the red-carpeted floor of the Xcel Centre, minutes after party delegates had ended the day's severely shortened proceedings.

A public supporter of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Voight was airing his political views when asked about Palin, who was named Friday as McCain's surprise choice for vice presidential running mate.

He called the 44-year-old governor a 'breath of fresh air,' before himself bringing up Monday's revelation by the Palin family that 17- year-old daughter Bristol is five months pregnant.

'Like all families, they have their dramas,' Voight said.

Suddenly, Voight's voice choked, his face stiffened, and he stopped speaking for several seconds. After a moment, he composed himself and continued, alluding to the parents' concern and fear for their daughter and her future.

Asked if his emotion was because of similarities to situations with his own estranged daughter, Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie, Voight said that all people and families have difficulties to overcome.
Bristol Palin plans to get married, will have her baby, and the family will move forward. 'She'll get through this,' Voight said.

In a statement earlier Monday, Palin and husband Todd said: 'Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. ... We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.'

The Palins said that Bristol and 'the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family.'

Palin, a mother of five, is an outspoken opponent of abortion.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Monday that the revelation had 'no relevance' to politics. 'I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits,' he said on the campaign trail.

Voight brushed off repeated questions about whether he was a registered Republican, which would make him a relative rarity in the overwhelmingly Democratic Hollywood.

Before endorsing McCain, he supported one-time Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani, who is scheduled to speak Tuesday night at the convention. Voight, though publicly critical of Obama, was reported as saying earlier this year that the Illinois senator was likely to win the election.

The twice-divorced Jolie gave birth in July to twins, her second and third children by movie heartthrob Brad Pitt, in addition to their three adopted children from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

The tabloid press breezily refers to the unmarried couple as Brangelina.

I think it snapped already that is why he is emotional. He wasn't this way at all when the twins were born. The stories are true, Joile had another bipolar relapse. She must be so sedated round the clock at this time.

How many times has this man been publicly in tears about his daughter? How can he still have so much love for her and she is cold as stone? That is not normal to be that emotionally detached from your own father. She truly must have no soul. Think of what will happen one day when one of the kids does something she doesn't like.

I read it first in a blog and I was p.o. because I thought Voight was likening Bristol's situation to Angelina's because the blogger used the word "parallel" but re-reading it, Voight choked up on Bristol's situation being the focus of interest and someone asked him if he was reminded of Angelina. Yup, it does sound that Jolie has a recurrence of her mental illness by Voight's reaction.
By now Pitt and his family understand that they are dealing with something serious.........well, except Jane who seem to minimize or is in denial because as Jolie supposedly said that she gets upset because Jane always attribute Jolie's issues to "hormones." I think Jolie know she is "mad."

Bristol Palin, 17 and unmarried, is five months pregnant, according to an announcement campaign aides said was aimed at rebutting internet rumors Palin's youngest son, born in April, was actually hers.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will have her baby and marry the child's father. Bristol Palin's baby is due in late December.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

The disclosure of the pregnancy came on the opening day of the Republican National Convention.

Maybe that is why Jane and Bill have been there so long. Because she cracked while they were there and they're helping out while she's tied to a bed in some sanitarium.

My heart breaks for Jon. My 74 year-old-father is dealing with the same thing from my youngest brother. He just married a witch and a narcassist and the first thing she did was convince my brother that his family was bad for him. He's so desperate to keep her, he made up sh!t in his head, dicated by her and now not talking to either of my parents nor his 5 bros. and sisters. It is really a bad situation but I've cried for my father because he is the one most being blamed and for what? We really don't know. It is all convoluded but they went to my brother's little girls ball game and my father and mother saw them. My father was just numb. My mother went over to force them to speak. She stood there and he was talking to someone and his fat wife just sat there he turned and saw here but would NOT even speakr. Finally the gentleman he was talking to was like "um someone is wanting to talk to you" and he finally gave her a grunt His fat wife sat there the whole time and just stared at her. He did not acknowledge my father's birthday OR fathersday this year. It is tearing him apart and my dad is a strong man. It's awful to watch. He and I were extremely close and he won't even call me or answer e-mails or his phone. Fortunately we've forged a relationship with his first wife and we get to see his kids when they are with her. Otherwise, we would not. They were forbidden to spend the night at my sisters. It's just NUTS. Bottom line....JON I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

I think Jon is active in knowing what's going on with Angelina except that
Angelina does not want him publicly involved yet with her. I'm sure to her she blames him for putting out her mental illness in public, that is why no amount of damage control or spinning her illness has no effect.....because it came from her own blood.

Jane and Bill must be extremely worried about their grandchildren. I don't know what laws are like in France for getting someone committed, or if Pitt is smart enough to catch on that Jolie needs serious intervention STAT, if that is the case, but I just hope the little ones are okay.

I don't think they will go for commitment unless she is dangerous. I believe there is a big part of manipulation in angelina's part. I know and have met mentally ill people esp. Bipolars and borderlines who use their illness for their own purposes or to their advantage.
To be mentally ill does not mean stupidity.......some of the most mentally ill psychopaths are very smart and dubious.

I bet she was all tranquilized when he left. Are you still wondering what Pitt is all about............HIMSELF and his CAREER. That is why when he planted the false story of Jen not wanting children and was more focused on her career.....it was the complete opposite........because he was talking about himself and projected it onto her.
