Break up? Stay together?

Okay, I'll try to keep this short...

My bf is a cop and I really am quite in love with him but I'm wondering if that's enough, just to love someone. The thing is, we're so different! I'm an affectionate, intellectual time and my bf is very stoic and serious typical cop.
We're talking about marriage, but I'm worried that down the road that it wont work out because we're so different. If you have any questions I'm open, and your advice is very much appreciated!!!!

I think (in the long term) you may get frustrated if your partner doesn't stimulate/share your intellect and affection. Love needs to be fed and can die over time, in my opinion love is not enough. How long have you been together?

Oh honey... just enjoy the relationship. Don't get married and don't get pregnant. Are you ok with dating a police officer? That's hard for a partner to do.

yeah, I mean the fact that he's a police officer really has nothing to do with our problem in my opinion... I like that about him, makes me feel safe... but I'm a very affectionate person. I'm very touchy feeling. It's how I show love and receive it. I've told him this and he's said that he feels smothered that way and can't be like that 24/7... I'm willing to work on our problems, but he's so stubborn.

try and work through it then, but if you get no where then leave. You need that affection to feel loved and if you don't get it you'll end up feeling empty and resentful, my guess is you're already at the start of those feelings already

Yes, your exactly right... I do feel that way already. Soo... I broke up with him... What's next? Ugh

spend time enjoying the things that give you most pleasure

have a good clear out at home

find someone who will respond to your affection, there's plenty of blokes out there who'll love you for it and won't be able to get enough!!

Yeah... I'm hanging in there! I just want to get out and meet people, but who.. this town seems so small at times!!! lol

yeah, it's difficult

if you're not tied down then travel, if it takes your fancy. Or if you're stuck in a small town, try and change jobs so you get out to a cityand meet new people through work?

you may not feel like it, but you're still really young with no ties perhaps now is the time to exploit that freedom and see what happens!!
