My husband wants to pierce his ears (both) and I'm not sure and have resisted to this point. He argues that I have two holes in each ear and he should be permitted at least one. Tough to argue back.

Any thoughts?

How old is your husband???

I am a 32 year old male and I wear earrings, I have 3 in each lobe and the top of both ears pierced aswell, apart from that im a normal looking guy (ie, im not a rocker or punk etc) and so I can understand him wantig to get his ears pierced.

I wanted mine done for many years and when I actually bit the bullet and had them done for the first time (when I was 25, the other earrings were added gradually over time) it was such a relief and I honeslty felt much more confident and better about myself after getting it done. I have also never really had any bad reactions to my pierced ears and if anything a lot of women have said they look good and that they like men with earrings, allthough I know many men feel they dont have the confidence to get their ears pierced.

For me, earrings just look good on a man of a woman, if he wants them done that bad then id say let him go for it.

Hi Lookout, I say let your husband go for it. I'm a 30-something male and I took the plunge last year (a piercing in each lobe), after many years of thinking about it. It's a decision that I have never regretted. Like Guest I've never had any negative comments about my earrings. Granted, there were some comments on my first day back at work with my new "look", but that was it.

My husband is 35.

I'd like to hear from some of the women on the board, particularly those whose husbands have wanted to be pierced and have done so.

In any case, I'd like to hear from some other women.

My husband as worn two earings for some time now. At first I did not like it, but now it does not bother me. He as three sets one for the Rams and one for the Cardinals and the starter set.
Oh I forgot he also has a pair of 1/4 carrot diamonds. He is very comfortable out in public so what the hell let him do it.

I think you should support him if that is his wish. I have three holes in each ear and my husband has two in his left and one in his right. As long as he doesn't have more than you, it's all right.

If you have a son, one day he could come out with the same argument: if mom obbiously likes double piercings in each ear, how come I can't even have one in one ear?

You're a bit hesitant now.

But if you accompany him to the parlor and keep smiling at him as he has it done, who knows? you might even even feel like going triple! A husband-wife ear piercing duo is sooooo sweet...

Hi Lookout,
My husband had is left ear pierced when he was 16. Up until recently he had not worn an earring for many years. Recently our daughter was having her ears pierced for the 2nd time and i suggested to my husband that he could have his right ear pierced to match his already pierced left, after a bit of persuasion he agreed. Later at home i put a matching piercing stud of my daughters in his previously pierced left ear. This was a bit difficult as he had not worn an earring in this ear for more than 10 years. I guess he should have had both pierced in the shop but his left ear still looked pierced, you could clearly see a hole but when i tried putting the earring in it only went partially through and then i had to force it until the stem broke through the skin at the back of his lobe. Now he has both ears pierced, i think he looks great he loves wearing earrings again now.
I say go with your husband to the shop and support him, be proud that your husband cares about his appearance.
Don't forget your husband can always take out his earrings if neither of you like them, they will soon heal up if you take them out within the first few weeks.

My husband Brian had his ears pierced 2 weeks ago, my idea though. We were at the hairdressers 2 weeks ago, my hair was done and I was waiting for Brian, he was having highlights. I noticed a young boy with his mother across the shop looking at the selection of ear piercing studs, I thought the boy was helping his mother select some studs her. As it turned out the boy sat in the chair and the assistant proceeded to mark up the boys ears and subsequently pierce them. The boy looked so cute with his studs in and I thought how nice Brian would look with earrings. I went over to a rather fed up looking Brian sat under the hairdryer with a rubber highlighting cap on his head (ha ha ha) and asked him what he thought about having his ears pierced, he liked the idea. Unfortunately we did not have time for to have them done at the hairdressers, the highlights took longer to take than normal so we were running late.
The next day we were out shopping at a local shopping centre with our son James, as we walked around I noticed a Claires shops with a little girl in the window preparing to have her ears pierced. I said to Brian would you like to have your ears pierced at Claires, James overheard what I said and asked whether he could also have his ears pierced I was not too sure whether James really knew what was involved in having pierced ears so I explained to him what happens but he was still very keen to have them done. We all went in, the girl was still in the chair so we waited and watched the girl have hers done, unfortunately she cried as the studs went in but she soon recovered. James wanted Dad to go first so he did, we chose white gold ball studs for Brian, then James had his done with Yellow gold ball studs, they both looked brilliant. The girls in Claires were very good explained everything step by step. They were really good with James especially as I could see he looked a bit nervous after watching the girl cry when she had hers done. Brian and James both love their new look. Brian's studs look great with his highlighted hair.

I don't like pierced ears on men, but that is just my own taste. As for the poster's husband being "allowed" to get pierced ears, he's a grown man! Imagine how it would be taken if a woman posting here were to need permission from her husband to get her ears pierced. If he wants to do it, what else is there to say?

I'm not keen on pierced ears on men either. I could just about cope with one ear but both - no thanks.
