Don't do it... I got mine pierced when I was 12 y/o and now I'm 18. The scar from it is small but to me it's bad. I'm going to have it fixed but I do wish that I would've never gotten it because my stomach has always been flat and i'd thought it's be cute and loved it for years and years but well... it was j/ a mistake. It didn't hurt at all but the scar is very ugly.

I had mine done a week ago. I totally loved. I also have both my nipple pierced. The three piercing are from the same material and style, so they all match.

I like them a lot, the sight of me in the mirror, wearing them is fascinant. It's so sexy

The gay thing is absurd!!! Don't pay attention to that.

It's your body and your life. You have and must have the control over them.

I am male (38 years old)

I had my navel pierced back in 1993, long before it became mainstream and seen as something "girlie"

In those days you only really saw piercings in tattoo magazines or at tattoo shows and they were not even that popular in that genre back then, the odd pierced nipple or navel was as risky as it got and these were mostly sported by men back then, there was also no flashy jewellery in those days and it was a simple 1.6 guage CBR in most cases.

Most women back then tended to stick to ear and nostril piercings and it was rare to see many women with pierced navels or nipples then.

The first "celebrity" I saw with a navel ring was also male (Dennis Rodman) back in about 1995 and soon after, the wrestler (Shaun Micheals) had one, quickly followed by 2 other wrestlers in (Perry Saturn and Shaun Helms) the male singer (Sisqo) also sported a pierced navel back in about 1995 and so back then it was more male dominated that a woman thing.

The first female in the mainstream to get it done was I believe, Naoimi Campbell, who had her navel pierced after a John Paul Gaultier show that used women with "fake" piercings back in late 1995. Soon after it started to take off and Christy Turlington followed Naomi Campbell's lead, quickly followed by Madonna in early 1996 (who at that time was dating Dennis Rodman) Navel piercing with women gradualy got more and more popular and on holiday in 1996 I remember it hit me how many girls in their late teens and early 20's were now sporting navel rings and there now seemed to be an impression this was a "female piercing"

In about 2000 Britney Spears got her navel pierced and it seemed to ignite the trend again but now with the age groups dropping and it was around late 2000 and early 2001 that it seemed it started to become common for mid teen girls to start getting navel piercings and piercing in general became much more accepted and mainstream, also high street jewellers cottoned onto things and started selling tacky cheap body jewellery and navel piercing was now totally female dominated.

I have worn my navel ring ever day now for 15 years and wont ever remove it, it was not a female trend when I got it done and I like it for what it is, it doesnt matter if its popular or not, my own navel rings are for me and will stay. I also added a 2nd navel ring (at the bottom of my navel) back in 1997 and I thing any guy that wants to wear a navel ring should forget the sterotypes and daft ideas that this is a female piercing and get the piercing done.

guys, why are you so afraid of the girly/gay thing?

It seems a bit weird to me, because in the past thrity years, everything changed: Men wear long hair, perfume, earrings in both ears, die their hair, pluck their eyebrows, etc. Even heard of skirts and makeup for men.

But still, men are afraid of being considered "girly" or "gay", so they must do everything in "male" fashion: "male" earrings, and not dangly girly earrings, "male" piercing, and not "Girly" piercing, "male" perfume, etc.

Hellow guys - you don't hate girls, don't you? You like the way girls look? want to look that way? Go gor it! So someone might think you're gay, or a woman, so what? What wrong with "sorry, you're wrong"?

Well, I know, it's not that simple. I just wanted to bring that up...

If it was that simple I wouldn't be so much in love with the subject... I'd love to be girly. I'd pierce my belly button to look girly - right after I'd have my hair removed down there...

I actually did pierce my navel myself some 12 years ago. put a regular earring there, and had it under my shirt until it got infected. yes I have a scar - also have scars on my nipples, also self-pierced...

I am a 41 year old male and I must admit had always been an anti tattoo & piercing guy until a few months ago when my work pal had her belly button pierced as well as having a sexy little tattoo put above it. I could easily tell that she was really proud of it and loved showing it off to me & all. I think it looked really great in fact I liked it so much that I now would love to have mine pierced as well as my left nipple so I suggested this to my mate who said I should just go for it and that they would look really wicked. However at my age I am a bit reluctant as it might look a bit girlie as you hardly see any guys with their navels pierced, it is also probaly a young mans thing to do if anything plus on top of this my missus is not a big fan of piercings & tats ! What should I do ?

if I were 16 again, hairless, with flat belly - I'd do it straight away.

because I'm not, I'll have to remove the hair on my belly, get it into shape a bit - and then...

Girly? I'd love to be girly. but prbably not everyone is girlified this way. It simply makes you hot and sexy I think.

Im a 25yo male and I briefly got my belly button pierced about 2 years ago. It looked great but I took it out after a couple of days cos I knew I'd get ribbed!

My mates weren't too sure when i got my nipple pierced! (Unfortunately I lost my nipple ring about 4 years ago, i loved it!!)

I'd like to get both done again, but my girlfriend will only accept the nipple (reluctantly) but def not the belly button!!

I had a barbell before, but would like a ring in my belly. When she goes on holiday I might get it done and enjoy the pleasure for a week!
