Babysitter giving bath

To make my statement clear just so nobody gets the wrong idea, I want to protect my sons modesty as much as posible. My problem is that he doesn't wash himself very well, and can't figure a way to solve this problem. He has to have a babysitter, but he doesn't want to be seen in that state of undress to get his bath. I used to bathe him about two weeks ago, but now I have to work 3rd. I don't believe he has started puberty yet. The 15 year old babysitter is the best deal for me, she lives closer to the house and she charges a lower rate. She's very responsible, and I'm sure that she will keep anything she sees confidential and will not tell her friends. Which babysitter do you think is best for protection of my son's modesty?

Any ideas?

What about a shower? Probably easier and if it is "personal" hygene you are concerned about then I've never met a man who wasn't keen to clean his equipment in the shower.

bloody hell! if you must have someone wash your 12 year old boy, i would say the 17 year old. but like another person said, he is probably going through puberty, he will be shy about all that as it is, than letting some girl washing him, jesus!
tell him to learn to wash properly himself or you will be taking all luxeries away from him.
if i had a kid of 12 i wouldnt let anyone else wash him/her!

The idea that you would ever let a teenaged boy babysit a girl of any age is both dangerous and sick. By age 7 many girls have matured enough to be bathed by themselves, and by age 12 they are old enough to babysit. I think a lot of you are overestimating the age at which boys are mature enough to babysit or even bathe themselves. I have babysat for boys and girls from infant to 13, and had to bathe many of them as part of my job requirement. Boys are a lot more lax than girls about nudity, so I don't see where anyone is coming from saying that he would be humiliated or embarrassed. Nudity isn't sexual unless you change it to fit your own sick fantasy.

I find it utterly offensive that so many of you have no regards for the feelings of a person when he happens to be male. And many of you are the same people who would accuse men of insensitivity. Women can be molesters as easily as men can be, so open your eyes there too. Carolina Mom scares me.. if she is real. She seems to think she still needs to wash under the foreskin of her 12yo son to make sure it's clean? Hah. Right.

This all boils down to people respecting other people's feelings, WHATEVER the age. If you think you can disregard the uncomfortable feelings of your child in this matter because "mama knows best," that is BS, and you are a molester from that point onward. Respect your children's feelings, whatever their sex or age.

From this point I can gather that if the child is uncapable of washing himself by that age, then it is the parent's fault. It should have been dealt with at the appropriete age, and it has nothing to do with maturity but lack of parenting.

Well all i gonna say is i was quiet capable way befor that, as were my friends...we had sleepover's that early. We didn't see their parents going into help them. Granted this is personal experience over an unbiased census, it makes logical sense that it should happen this way.


And to the woman who said letting guys babysit [as teen babysitters] were sick is a sexist pig. I have babysat many times, and still do for the extra buck here and there. I have been asked now if i would wash a child, I kindly said no and asked if they could have him ready befor i get there...

my brother has just turned 12 and he has bathed him self since around the age 8/9 .... he would never let my mum bath him, or anyone else for tht matter, surely if u stress to ur son tht if he doesn't wash the girl down the road will do it for him he should book his ideas up

I Learned to babysit boys when I was 12 and helped a mum with her son of 5 years, and she showed me what boys have to have washed. I have babysat loads of boys since then and bathed most of them, up to 10 years old. Sure they need help washing there, and you do it by first asking them if they want you to wash them there, and most nod yes without thinking, and you wash them there. It's no big deal, just a small handful of squashy flesh, that you soap and rinse properly.

no, boys tend be quite shy past 8 or 9 till they get to know you. After you bathed once they don't mind but usually the first time they undress they hide themselves a little. I let them hop into the bath on their own and show them I am not looking at them (I'm talking about boys of 8 to 10 years) and after a while in the tub, it seems OK to have them stand up and you wash them OK. I wouldn't say any of the boys I have washed have especially liked being washed down there by a girl especially if they have tight a foreskin, for obvious reasons
