So far don't like ceravette

Postby whearnj on Fri Sep 01, 2006 11:42 am

I've been taking Ceravette for 3 weeks and so far have been bleeding for almost 2 of those weeks and am already fed up with it. I started it 2 months after the birth of my second child and because I suffer from severe headaches the doc suggested either a coil or this pill. Not convinced so far that it is going to work for me as I don't want a continuous period. Not that keen on a coil either. Would really love to speak to anyone who has had lots of bleeding and to know whether you eventually settled down or not.

Ive been on Cerazette for a month now after changing from Ovranette because of really bad migraines, I was supposed to have my period last week but all Ive had is stomach pains and feeling really depressed, tired, and moody which doesnt usually happen but Ive still had no bleeding! Just wondered if this is what happened when other people have gone onto this pill and not had periods?

missed pill

I started taking cerezette just over two months ago and on the whole I have found it useful (especially being that I can't take the combined pill due to having had a blod clot several years ago) though since then have put on weight, been more irritable and have had irregular very light bleeding. Last week I forgot to take it and had sex after the twelve hour window not realising my mistake. Although I took a pill as soon as I remembered and took one later on (so taking two in one day), I have had sore breasts since then and am now worried I may be pregnant. Has anybody else experienced this?

after Cerezette...

Postby Cheryle on Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:25 pm

Hi, I've just come off Cerezette after taking it for almost 4 years. I had my period during the first few months but then they became irregular and then stopped coming except for a bit of smearing now and then. Other than that I have had no side effects and found it a great form of contraceptive with the added benefit of no PMS and messy periods (I was a heavy bleeder). Now I am planning on having another baby (my fourth) and have been off Cerezette for 3 weeks with no sign of my period. Has anyone else used this pill over a longer period of time before trying to get pregnant? How long did it take for the body to get back to normal?

Hiya,

Came off Cerazette about 3 weeks ago as well, and no period as yet. Was on it for about 18 months and never had a period. Trying to get pregnant now as well, and havign no idea whether to test or what to do. Quite frustrating as well. I have been quite irritable and having huge headaches since going off the pill.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers!!

I just got my period this weekend (4 weeks after going off the pill). I also had quite a few headaches since coming off. I'm glad that I got my period now though and hope that things are back to normal! Good luck to you!

CEZARETTE

Postby jackie41 on Wed Sep 20, 2006 3:12 pm

I have been on cezarette for over 9 months now and have had no periods. I have experienced tender breasts more on this pill then on any other I have taken. Because of high blood pressure and being 41 this pill was suggested. I have also read that it can prevent ovulation in the same way the combined pill does, which is a plus as far as im concerned because my mother died of ovarian cancer, and the less you ovulate the less chance you have of developing the disease, and no other mini pill does that, so i shall remain on it as long as my Doctor prescribes it.

Wow, I never realised that this pill could have such a long effect on the body! My dr. had told me that the body regulated itself pretty quickly after coming off (different than other pills). I did get a normal period 4 weeks after coming off cerezette and since then the other effects of coming off the pill (headaches, sore breasts, mood swings...) have also disapeared. I feel "normal" now. I guess I just have to wait and see if I'm also ovulating normal and if it'll work to have another baby. Being on cerezette was great for the 4 years, other than missing my period (which was a plus for me), I had no other side effects. I did gain a bit of weight over the 4 years but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the pill or just the fact that I turned 40 and am coming into that age where weight gain happens. Now I've re-married and would like to have a baby with my new husband (he's 10 years younger than me) but I guess I'll just have to see what my age and what the effects of 4 years on cerezette may have on the process. It sure is fun trying though! Thanks for replying to my post and wish you all the best and success in your trys for a baby!

Here's an update on my situation. I did get my period about 4 weeks after coming off Cerezette. I was so glad for the "sign" that my body was getting back to normal so quickly. Now I've just done an early home pregnancy test (it's been 4 weeks since that first period) and it's positive!!

So I can only sum it up by saying that my experience with Cerezette has been positive. I enjoyed having no periods for the 4 years I took it. My body got back to normal quite quickly after stopping it and now within my first "normal" cycle I've gotten pregnant.

Cerazette - No periods on stopping

Postby Sad babe, me want baby! on Thu Oct 19, 2006 10:54 pm

Hi. I was on Cerazette for about 6 months, and I stopped taking it 2 months ago as me and my partner are trying for a baby. But I have had no period!

While I was on the pill it took me a couple of months to settle down and have no periods, occasionally if I forgot 1 or 2 pills I would get some breakthrough bleeding.

Now I have stopped there is nothing, I have had sore nipples, and stomach pain for 4 weeks now, and pregnancy tests say negative. Anyone know how long it takes to have your first normal period?

Hi,
I have recently came off cerazette after taking it for 3years - i Never had a period or any bleeding whilst i was on cerazette and found it a fantastic pill, i felt happier whilst on it, and started to lose weight.

I have came off the pill now for 1 month and still havent had a period or a show of blood. i am trying for a baby but tests have came back negative. I have had an underactive thyroid for 12years and hope that this is not slowing the process down.

Any advice or similar experiances girls???

Getting your period back

Postby madelaine on Thu Oct 26, 2006 10:49 pm

Hello,

I know this sounds really daft, but if you want your periods back, have you tried reflexology? I am on cerezette and not looking to come off it at the moment. Usually I don't bleed at all, but when I have reflexology (not for that reason, I have it for my IBS) then I usually get a period afterwards and it takes a month or two to go back to no periods - it's like it kick starts them.

no idea if this would work for anyone else, but thought I would mention!
