After being taken off my combined pill by my doctor, they told me to try cerazette, this was the biggest mistake i made. At first everything was good, no periods, who could want more. After about 6 months the symptoms came bloating, increased appitite and the god awful mood swings and no information on this from my doctor, only the fact i could have irregular bleeding. I put this down to working to hard and being tired. After 9 months things still hadn't changed, things were getting worse, still no periods constant tiredness, extreme bloating and my lack of interest for sex. Unfortunately by this point most people would have called it a day but i had no other option, there was nothing else i could take. I was on cerazette for nearly 3 years, when eventually feeling like i was trapped inside somebody elses' body and couldn't get out, i stopped taking it. What a relief i now after three weeks feel like myself again, i have energy and am up beat. i think my partners took a sigh of relief.
i understand that everyone's body and circumstances are different but my advice to anyone thinking of taking this pill, talk to people who have taken it before as you'll get a complete understanding from them rather than doctor's who haven't tired living whilst taking it.[code:1][/code:1]

Hiya

I have only been taking Cerazette for 4 weeks as prescribed by my NURSE not even my GP!!! it was prescribed to resolve my issue of terrible pains and irregularity.

I have had constant pale light bleeding (maybe a few days I didn't, thats it!) it's not enough for an actual tampon but it is seriously horrible when you are out and all of a sudden you feel like you are weeing!!!

well anyway, first side effect (noticed IMMEDIATELY after day 2 of taking tablets) was constant pale light bleeding. Second after 1 week was my moods. I would cry over my trousers not being dry out of the tumble dryer, or the fact my phone hadnt charged, seriously it was pathetic but you cant help it, also I would kick off with my boyfriend over something as stupid as he was going to get mcdonalds!!!

Day about 4 i noticed large unsightly spots on my face ( i have been quit elucky with my skin up til now!!!) and sore erm, boobs (if im allowed to say that on here!!!) literally everywhere, slight growth but not in a good way, they just feel like they are swollen rather than growing...NOT GOOD!

third side effect is hairloss. i am 19 yrs old and havent noticed clumps or anything, but it is literally along my partin right near where my fringe starts i have a white patch, not large but significant!!! the hair is growing back but is finer and slower in growth!!! the side of my hair infront of my ear near where a sideburn would be if i was a man (lol) i have a huge gap. i only noticed today so unsure if will grow back or what!!! i havent had to shave legs, underarms bikini as often either, not majorly different but noticeably. this was after around 21 days of taking the Cerazette tablet.

I also have had in the past week sharp pains (not period pains) on either side of stomach, inside of the hip bones, i have had loss of appetite, been sleeping alot heavir and more often than usual and just total overall laziness came over me this past weekend.

I would NOT recommend this pill for anyone for ANY reason. If you are having bad pains (worse than usual) then have a smear test and check their are no cysts (thats what i have been told i now have to do as this pill i have read EVERYWHERE can cause small liquid filled cysts on your ovaries!!!), or just dose up on a very highly recommended by MYSELF co-codamol.....it is brilliant fo rperiod pains but DO NOT DRIVE ON IT...i nearly had an accident lol.

be warned everyone, i have been the unhappiest these past 4 weeks. i would have been happier the usual rolling around the bed in pain andhot water bottles everywhere than this!!!!! LOSS OF HAIR AT AGED 19 not a highlight of my latter teenage years i must say!!!

Just stumbled across this sight while trying to find out how many years you should take cerazette for before it becomes unhealthy. Any ideas?

I have been on cerazette for three and a half years now and would highly recommend it. I experienced some side effects when I first started taking it - terrible mood swings, irregular periods and maybe a few spots - but it soon settled down, my periods stopped completely (great for me as i suffered quite badly with period pains and terrible mood swings) and I actually lost weight (probably because my hormones balanced out and I stopped needing a truck load of chocolate once a month!).

I tried a few different contraceptive pills and this one is by far the best.

Vickchick wrote:My advice to anybody using this pill that isn't happy with it, would be to stop taking it. I went to see my doctor about it and came away feeling like I had been wasting his time! This was in the early stages too!

I wish I'd just done what was right for me. My relationship with my boyfriend deteriorated too as we couldn't talk to each other without me wanting to bite his head off and doing so most of the time!

For those of you wondering about the weight gain, the weight did come off quite quickly in the 1st month and you'll find you don't feel half as hungry as you used to!

Good Luck!

Re: the weight gain bit ...... did it come of in the first month of taking or the first month from when u stopped .... i have just been prescribbed this pill sna dafter reading side effects i dont know if i want to take it ?
I already suffer with headaches and am trying so hard to lose weight (i dont want this pill to send me other way) also spot !!!! not had them since a teenager and dont want them again ?? What to do ??

God,i am soo coming off cerazette!! i was on microgynon for years in my twenties and it was fine.i had regular, relatively painless periods and i was very happy with it,but at about 28 my bp started to creep up,so the gp suggested i come off it.i didn't even have one period before i fell pg with my son-now 3-and-a-half-a shock, but a very happy one lol! i suffered with high bp throughout my pg,and after i had him i was put on a different pill, though i can't remember which one.i started to get very painful periods after about 6m so i came off it in case it was the cause.in the end i went to my gp and was diagnosed with mild endometriosis.i had my daughter a year ago tomorrow and throughout my pg with her my bp was also very high.so when i went back on the pill after i was put on cerazette as i am also overweight.i'm soo tired all the time and snappy, but i just put that down to being the mother of a baby and a boisterous toddler lol! i also have no sex drive whatsoever which i know my hubby really struggles with.i've put on loads more weight, though i know this is mainly due to overeating lol!over the last couple of weeks i've started to get mild period pain inc stomach and back ache.i'm just fed up of feeling snappy, peed off,no sex drive etc and-tbh,would rather just have monthly periods so i know where i am!reading all the posts on here has made me think 'sod that! goodbye cerazette!'

Hi All,

I was put on Certezette in Jan 2003 after suffering migranes. I was still having periods and became pregnant while taking and had my daughter in March 2004. I went back on the cerezette staight afterward and my periods never returned, even after finished breast feeding. I never experience acne or mood swings but I did develop a pot belly. In June 2006 we decided to try for another baby. I came off the pill and within 2 weeks had my first period and lost my pot belly. I never had another one as in September I was expected child 2. In July 2007 I went back on the cerezette and the same thing happened. Until this morning, for some reason I have started bleeding. I am still breast feeding my one year old son once a day. And i never miss a pill they are taken same time every day.

Can anyone help with this? or has anyone experienced this?

then 3 weeks ago i came off it and i never had a period
i had all the symptoms of being pregnant,
however preg test was negative

i was really worried until i came across this forum and i didnt realise how many other people have had problems with it :(

thankfully i came on my period yesterday and have restarted cerazette but im a bit weary of being on it again
i hope to start a family in a year so hopefully no problems then

Pains on my right side

Postby Cerezette User on Thu Sep 25, 2008 2:00 pm

Hi All, i have been using cerezette for a year now and about 6 months into it my periods started being about 2 months apart but i also started getting a pain in my left side, i had read that cerezette can cause ovarian cysts and im worrying this is what i have. I have been the walk in centre as i have been unable to get a doctors appointment but got referred back to my doctor as they will have to refer me to the hospital for a scan. I have the doctors appointment a week from today so have another week of pain to endure. The pain gets worse at night, almost like bad period pains but it also feels like i have a piece of glass where my ovary is so when i move i get sharp stabbing pains... has anyone else had anything similar to this??

I have been on CZET for 2 yrs at first it made me incredibly depresed which was really out of caracter so I stopped. 5mnths later although I never have a troublesome period i decided to continue. I had a couple of periods now & then but now nothing, for 7 months, not a spot. would like to start trying for children. Can anyone relate?
