I'm not sure to be honest cos I'm still bleeding 2 weeks on lol! I've read through posts on here, and some ppl seem to come practically straight on their period, but some take a while! I have skipped a few pills before I came off officially, has anyone ever caught on pregnant with this pill, because my doctor wouldnt give me the Morning After Pill as he said that Cerazette was strong?? xx

I have only been taking Cerazette for 4 weeks as prescribed by my NURSE not even my GP!!! it was prescribed to resolve my issue of terrible pains and irregularity.

I have had constant pale light bleeding (maybe a few days I didn't, thats it!) it's not enough for an actual tampon but it is seriously horrible when you are out and all of a sudden you feel like you are weeing!!!

well anyway, first side effect (noticed IMMEDIATELY after day 2 of taking tablets) was constant pale light bleeding. Second after 1 week was my moods. I would cry over my trousers not being dry out of the tumble dryer, or the fact my phone hadnt charged, seriously it was pathetic but you cant help it, also I would kick off with my boyfriend over something as stupid as he was going to get mcdonalds!!!

Day about 4 i noticed large unsightly spots on my face ( i have been quit elucky with my skin up til now!!!) and sore erm, boobs (if im allowed to say that on here!!!) literally everywhere, slight growth but not in a good way, they just feel like they are swollen rather than growing...NOT GOOD!

third side effect is hairloss. i am 19 yrs old and havent noticed clumps or anything, but it is literally along my partin right near where my fringe starts i have a white patch, not large but significant!!! the hair is growing back but is finer and slower in growth!!! the side of my hair infront of my ear near where a sideburn would be if i was a man (lol) i have a huge gap. i only noticed today so unsure if will grow back or what!!! i havent had to shave legs, underarms bikini as often either, not majorly different but noticeably. this was after around 21 days of taking the Cerazette tablet.

I also have had in the past week sharp pains (not period pains) on either side of stomach, inside of the hip bones, i have had loss of appetite, been sleeping alot heavir and more often than usual and just total overall laziness came over me this past weekend.

sorryi had to quote that whole bit you said.. i was advised to go on cerazette as my boyf and i had an accident and had to get the morning after pill.. at the time i was so up for the idea of having a realiable CP BUUUUUT. i have notcied all the same things that you have.. all of it, sleeping loads, boobs being bloated looking, spots constantly on my face and i feel im putting on weight but it could be me worrying (as its side effect) ive stopped taking it.. its too much other trouble.

and as far as everybody else.. most of the posts on here arent good about it!!

I've finally given up on this pill. after being spotty and miserable with sore boobs and zero sex drive for over a year I stopped taking it. everything has improved and I've lost weight. I am still amazed at what a massive effect this pill has. Yes it stopped my (very painful) periods...but the side effects were really extreme. I'm sure it works well for some people... but it certainly didn't for me.

I have been on it for almost 3 months now for the first few weeks i bled lightly but constantly, then i had 2 full period almost back to back. Since then i haven't had a period! which for me is a god send as i suffer really badly! Anyway i wouldn't worry about it too much as on other pills i have taken in the past i have bled for a couple of months then everything has stablised. :)

ive been taking cerazette since i was 16 (19 next month) It is the only pill that i can really take and the combined pill gives me horrendous migraines which i'd never felt anything like! my GP adv me not to have the implant incase that gave me migraines. When i first took cera i had no period for 4 months and loved it, but since then it has been so irregular, sometimes every month, or every 2. And sometimes i can be on for 2 weeks straight. The worst is a week on, 2 days off then on again :( It sends you round the bend, i'm forever shouting at my fiancee for no reason. It's also put on a stone in weight and have terrible skin, but despite this is is highly effective and hasn't let me down in its purpose. I'd rather suffer with these consequences than migraines and sickness

mmm, after being up & down about this for 2 months I gave up taking it last night. Maybe I should persevere but I'm not that patient ... I posted a while back saying I was going to stop taking it, but then the hair-falling-out problem seemed to suddenly stop so I changed my mind. But the hair getting better coincided with me starting a period 3 days after the last one finished. That then lasted a week and a half, stopped on about Monday, then started again yesterday (thursday)!!! It's already got as heavy as normal, we're not talking 'spotting' here, it's a full on period. How can I even have that much blood inside me to have 3 in a row with a couple of days break between them? Thank God i found a 2-for-1 offer on 32 packs of super Tampax in Waitrose the other day! :P seriously though, why should I keep going with a permanent awkward period in the hope this will settle down? I'm going back to my doc in a week or 2 and hoping i'll be allowed the COC again as i'm still losing weight at a good rate & hopefully getting my blood pressure down. Not allowing myself to consider failure on that or i'll just get despondent! I'm glad the hair stopped coming out but i don't think the bleeding all the time is much better!

Stopping Cerazette - Trying for A baby

Postby MMMason2008 on Sat Oct 04, 2008 12:09 pm

Hi I'm new to the discussion regarding Cerazette. :D

I've never had any children but like to have at least one child. I was married but divorced in 1993 and chose to concentrate on my career but also since my divorce I have never met anyone I felt I would want to settle down and have children with, until I met my current partner.

We have been in two year serious relationship now. I think he is "the One" .However, it is a long distance relationship and we are still in the process of deciding on location of where we live together. We have talked about having children. My partner has two grown up children and is happy to support me having a child when the time is right. I have never worked out when the time is right but it may be this year as the my body clock is running out of time I gues. Who knows? :D

In April 2008, during a routine checkin, my GP decided to change my pill, Cilest which is a combined pill. He said it was due to the fact that I'm overweight. However, I've been overweight for a long time but I have never had any problems being on that pill. I have been trying to lose weight with a healthy life style plan so I have lost almost three stone since January of this year. He prescribed Micronor. I find it very difficult to talk to my GP and he did not understand at my age of 42 why I still want a baby, particularly at my age. However, when I got home I didn't like the what I read about the side-effects and decided to go my local Family Planning Clinic who agreed with my concerns and could not understand why my GP prescribed it.

They recommended Cerazette. I still had a month's supply of my Cilest and I was going to Florida for a month so decided I would start it towards the end of my holiday. I took it for 3 months and went back to my Family Planning Clinic. They said I lost weight since I started taking it. I said this was probably due my healthier lifestyle nothing to do with the pill but my weight loss has slowed down and I was concerned it was due to the pill. I was also concerned that I have not had a period since I started it and had that affected my fertility. Particularly as I want to start trying for a baby within the next year. The nurse said that it was usual not to have a period on Cerazette and persuaded me to continue taking for a bit longer and gave me another 3 month supply. She told me that if I want to try for a baby I should start making plans sooner than later as I am 42 going to be 43 soon.

She gave me leaflets on pregnancy and advised to take Folic Acid 12 weeks before I start trying when I decided to go for the baby. I have continued reading the messages about Cerazette and the terrible side effects some people have been getting. To be honest although it's gr8 not having a period but I don't really like it because I don't feel it's natural. With that in mind, I decided to come off Cerazette in the middle of August 2008 which means I only took 1 tablet of the new 3 month supply.

Since then I have been having unprotected sex with my partner.

I have been taking Folic acid supplement for over 12 months but I have not had anything that resembles a period. I have feelings like I am going to come on my period like cramps and cravings for a particular Supermarket brand of Best Triple Chocololate cookies. However, I don't think the cravings for their cookies are anything to do with coming off Cerazette. They are just delicious.

Some of my friends think that I can get pregnant straightaway despite my age and my fears about my age and being on the pill for so long beforehand.

I visited the Family Planning Clinic and told them I had not had any symptoms of a period yet and it was almost 6 weeks since I stopped taking Cerazette. She said it may take some time for Cerazette to get out of the body's system. She said I should not worry about the myth that if you have been on the pill for years it affects your fertility and not to worry about my age. Lots of women my age are having babies now. Her sister in law has just found out she is pregnant although she is 41 years. She also said the periods I had on Cilest were not real periods. She gave me a pregnancy test at the clinic to be on the safe side but it was negative. She said to keep on trying.

Has anybody else had similar experiences of stopping Cerazette and being successful at getting pregnant, particularly older women like myself at 42 years?

I've written my experience on Cerazette a number of times on this forum. But I'll just let you know, that I was 41 (almost 42) when I gave birth to my son. I stopped taking Cerazette after being on it for four years and never having a periody during that time. I got my period again 4 weeks after coming off it and got pregnant that very first cycle but then lost that baby at almost 6 weeks. 4 cycles later I got pregnant again and gave birth to a healthy boy last November. I'm back on Cerazette again now and am still very happy with this pill.

Stopping Cerazette & Trying for a Baby

Postby MMMason2008 on Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:36 pm

Hi Cheryle

Thanks! You have given me some hope that it may still not be too late for me to have a baby at my age, 42, despite being on what I call this weird contraceptive pill with all its varied side-effects. Watch this space as hopefully my body returns to "normal".

My partner and I will continue trying for the baby and I won't give up yet. Who knows I may be as lucky as you! :D
