abuse at school

When I think back to my school days I wonder if our Headmaster got away with murder. He was very strict and feared by all the girls because if we were in trouble and were sent to his office, he would smack our bottoms. I don't just mean a quick slap, we would actually have to bend ovr his lap and recieve a proper smacked bottom!

I know wonder if this was abuse or just normal for the time? Does anyone else here remember being punished like that at school in the late 70's early eighties?

Afraid not! I was lucky I didnt go to school until 1989.

Iam glad there were no days like that for me. But it is definately wrong and Iam glad they done away with it. Its abuse

My head master used to smack us. Especially the boys. I think it was like that in most schools.

You girls were lucky - boys at my school got the cane and I can assure you from personal experience that it hurt like hell ! A "smacked bottom" does n't sound too bad by comparison...I was caned it twice and had discomfort in sitting for a couple of days afterwards on each occasion.

That wasn't an uncommon experience back then (early/mid 70s)

The girls at your school were lucky if your Headmaster only spanked you, our Headmaster strapped girls and boys with a leather belt!
A spanking is nothing compared to that... yoouuch! My dad used to spank us when we were at home and that was really bad. If we were bad or got a letter sent home my mum would say wait till your father gets home and you knew you would be spanked... it was horrible waiting for him to get home jumping everytime you thought you heard a car outside in case it was him

Not all girls were lucky, Keith...

I was at a girls' school a bit before you - 1968 - and after repeated misbehaviour was carpeted by the Headmistress. I was given a choice of being "asked to leave" i.e. expelled, or the cane. Feeling tough and brave I chose the latter.

Nearly 40 years on and I still recall those 3 whacks across the seat of my knicks...it literally took my breath away. I certainly didn't volunteer for a repeat dose.

haha this must be some different meaning of the word lucky that I'm not aware of! Keith,Tanya and Jenny seem to think being spanked by the Headmaster is a lucky option. Personly I think it sounds terrible, I'm just glad that stuff had stopeed by the time I went to school.

Anyway Jenny being caned by a Headmisstress sounds bad but not as bad as if it were a Headmaster doing it. Even just being spanked by a Headmster may have been worse because he would do it much harder being a man, and also he would have big hands so it would cover your whole bottom, so way bigger than a cane. It would probably hurt loads to be spanked like that by a man!

I think a spanking would hurt more because a hand is bigger than a cane and also a spanking would go on for a while, the cane would just be a few whacks!

Not totally related but back in the late 60's, early 70's at my school, boys had swimming lessons nude up to the age of 16 - with a female instructor. There were also times when girls accompanied swimming lessons but were allowed bathing suits albeit this only happened if one instructor was off ill.

There were also many times when girls were caught spying on the boys and not punished - it was joked about. It was even rumoured that was how some girls 'chose' their boyfriends.

I very much doubt it would happen now. When i think back i find it bizarre that it happened at all.

May I make a second, and final, contribution to this strand :

Firstly, I apologise if I seemed to belittle Janet007's experience. If those spankings were painful and humiliating then I sympathise. I should have made it clearer that my use of Keith's word "lucky" was ironic in large measure.

As for my own experience, perhaps I came off lighter than Janet. The punishment was administered by a woman (a very important distiction) and I did not have the humiliation of being put over someone's knee. Instead I was politely invited to bend over a chair. Afterwards she gave me a hanky to dry my eyes (I'm ashamed to say I wept a little) and then told I could sit quietly in the Library until I felt able to go back into class.

I, too, am against corporal punishment and have never used it on my two daughters (now 26 & 24). Afterall, I know how much it hurts - the cane at least. But back then the shame and disgrace of being expelled would have been worse, for me at any rate, and a sore bottom seemed the better option. It made a full recovery and now the whole thing is a vivid if unpleasant memory !

I rekon Headmasters and male teachers had quite a job back then didn't they lol I can just imagine of of these guys down the pub of an evening moaning about a hard day at work having to smack the bottoms of lots of teenage girls, and his friends all just looking at each other in complete envy lol

I'm not aying they were perverts who did it for sexual reasons but the idea of having a line of girls outside your office all waiting to have their bare bums smacked...well it desn't sound like such hard work does it lol!

Maybe this is something only men will find amussing!!!
