Advice about broken relationship

Postby gigimc on Mon Feb 28, 2005 3:14 pm

I was dating a separated guy until August. He didn't want divorce and it was down to his wife's cheating. The divorce date was set for October and he'd get upset, cry etc. Then one night in Sept he didn't call when he said he would. Then he rang and told me that he was mixed up and didn't know what life held for him. He said he couldn't give me commitment and that he wasn't sure if he even wanted a relationship at that point but needed some space. We kept in contact by email and text. In October, I emailed him and said maybe I should not contact him as much. He replied and told me that he wanted us to remain very good friends and that he couldn't promise me anything. We kept emailing and texting one another. Then I met him for the first time in Jan and we got along well but I was quite cool towards him. I emailed him a couple of days later and said I was fed up waiting and that maybe I should move on because I believed he maybe seeing other people. II really pushed him for an answer but took him almost 3 weeks to reply(although he would send he texts in between) and he said he wasn't seeing anyone and that he was just drifting along. He said he missed me and my company. But at the end he said, maybe it was time we both moved on but that I'd always have a piece of his heart. Now I've told him that I don't want to give up trying yet and what did he feel about that. He contacted me and said he honestly didn't know and he was going to think about it. I've been told people that it may well be that he needs to work through the divorce issue and the hurt and that's why he's been like this. Any thoughts? We really got on well and it all happened so suddenly. I don't want to give up on him yet.
