Okay now here's the thing the filmcompanies aren't making movies for fun or for charity , they are making it for MONEY $$$ AND for a movie to be considered "worth while" it has to bring it 2.5 it's production and advertizing costs. That means that SALT has to bring in 500 million$ in order to NOT be considered a flop.
Now how many here, loons or not loons honsetly believe that this movie will bring in 500 mill when it's all said and done? I don't.
Guest wrote:Considering Salt's filming budget and the reshoots and then all the advertising, it is no where near breaking even yet, so yes it is a flop. It has been steadily dropping each week and it's first week was by no means outstanding. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or a great mathematician to figure that one out. A couple of paid posters or a pair of loons coming here telling us that we are the ones who are crazy isn't going to change that fact. But hey, whatever, you go ahead and do your job and we will keep on doing what amuses us.
500mil..Wow wrote:Guest wrote:Look it's simple, Salt costed aprox 80-100 million to make, and about 100 million (or more) to advertize. That makes about 200 millions right?

OMG the funniest thing ive heard all day SALT now has to make 500mil to produce a profit..WOW FF never ceases to amaze me.. i guess Mr and Mrs Smith which didnt even make 500mil is a megaflop..100mil for advertising, really? so im guessing SONY expected SALT to make 500mil thats why they took the chance lmao..once again produce a box office report or analysts saying that SALT is either a FLOP, UNDERPERFOMED or is a DISAPPOINTMENT..all you have been spewing is the usual FF rubbish..funny how FF and IUC is the only one that is aware that SALT flopped..i guess everyone else in the box office buisness didnt get the memmo..usuing ur formula TBH flopped big time 40mil production 30mil advertising(yup i can make up figures too lol) 70 times 2.5 equals 175mil so why do you keep saying TBH is a success if based on your formula it isnt..actually using your formula a majority of the movies considered a success by box office reporters has flopped..
I don't give a damn about TBH or Jens movies, and I can't see what Anbiston has to do with Salt??? How is that working out for you? You seem a bit confused here, I was talking about Jolie.

but if its a flop how come only FF and IUC recognize it as one..thats so strange dont ya think..all box office reporters has been calling it a win for SONY..i mean i just asked for ONE report saying its a disaapointment and you cant even provide it..they were quick to say AMH was a flop and they called all the other summer movies that underperformed a flop so how come you all are the only ones that are aware of it..lmao

Which means that Salt has to make $220 million to be considered profitable. And it has to make even more than that be even be considered a hit.
If you add the promotion budget, then that number will obviously increase.
That's how it is with any investment, loons. Money back is nice, but double your investment is a profit. Salt is not even close to make a profit yet and even further from being a hit.

Did you mean it has to make twice the production budget to break even then anything after that is considered profit?

No, I meant that it was to make twice its budget to be a profitable film, i.e. $220 million. If it makes more than that, then it can be considered a hit.
If you add the promotion budget then obviously Salt has to make more to be considered a profit. I didn't add the promo budget because I have no clue what it is. But let's pretend that the promotion budget was $50 million, which would make the total budget $160 million. That means that Salt has to make $320 million to profitable.
Break even - $110 million
Profitable - $220 million
A "hit" - anything beyond $220 million
