When I was a soph, my best friend's sister was a freshman and in the same PE class. Many times we saw each other in various stages of undress or even showering nude. The funny thing was, I felt very weird going to their house and we would see each other fully clothed, yet I kind of looked at her like I was picturing her naked as she was probably thinking that way about me too.

Of course back then no girl was completely shaved. Most had a full bush maybe trimmed a bit during the swimming season.

Kelli C,

I had a similar situation in high school only maybe slightly more awkward.
When I was a freshman my boyfriend was a junior, and his sister was a freshman and she was in my gym class. So we were always seeing each other nude in the showers and locker room, and my boyfriend was always asking his sister to describe to him how what my naked body looked like or even to take a picture of me in the shower.

She never considered taking a picture of me against my will, thank goodness, but she did describe certain things to him about how my body looked. If he hadn't have been such a pervert he may have eventually gotten to see me naked, but I dumped his ass because he was such a perve.

May we ask what kind of perverted things he asked about? Maybe the shape of your nipples/ Maybe the color of your pubic hair or how much pubic hair you had? Thanks.

Good guesses. Length of my nipples and how much pubic hair were two of the main questions.

Don't bother to ask me the answers to those questions, because I'm not answering those.

What's evil about it?

Why would expecting students to shower be considered evil? We always showered at my school, it was just us girls in there, so what was the big deal? Nothing wrong with it at all!

Pudenda Envy? Unresolved Plank complex? There were always those in school that had a hangup about showering after PE, and if you were unlucky enough to have classes with them, you quickly realized how important it is to shower. Kids need to be taught how bad smelling is and what actually causes that odor in graphic detail. Scare the fear of nudity right out of them, because the alternative is far worse.
I drive by the homeless sleeping in the cold, dark street, like bodies in an open grave. Underneath the broken old neon sign that used to read "Jesus Saves." It just makes me wonder, why so many lose and so few win.

A lot of people don't like public showering, particularly if they aren't confident about some part of them, and kids can be cruel.

I know Colonel, but a child can get rashes, infections, and worse LABELS for not showering. I was never super confident in high school. I started a growing spurt between 9th and tenth grade, and just looked awkward, but I still showered, because of the bacteria and perspiration would make a stench that would keep my life a living hell by my peers. It's better to be teased and clean, than branded for life and smelly.

I agree - but just that public showers are not to everyone's taste!

I was at secondary school in the UK back in the 1980s and nude communal showering was compulsory after every Games and PE lesson. The first time was nerve-wracking, as you had to strip off in a communal changing room with about 60 other boys, most of whom you didn't know, under the glare of the stereotypically strict Games teacher. It felt quite degrading to be ordered to strip naked but the fact that every single boy in my school year was having to do the same was some consolation.

However I quickly got used to it and in the end it really was no big deal. Some boys would wrap a towel around themselves and walk to the showers like that. Since our changing room was really quite a small area, and the showers weren't far away, and we all had to change into and out of our clothes together, this always seemed pointless to me and I would just strip and walk naked to the showers. I think the communal showering did help me to overcome, or avoid, inhibitions about body-image, but I can only speak for myself and other people may well have very bad memories of school showers. I do think though that showering should be optional, and should have been that way for my generation. Also it did vaguely irritate me that the girls' showers had partitions but ours were open.

She shouldn't have to shower of feel pressured to shower if she doesn't want to, discuss it with the teacher.
