Like it or not, having children is natural.

As is not having children, some can't procreate.

Some people have gynaecological problems which are only relieved by having children. For those women bearing children is a biological need. What do you suggest they do? Have hysterectomies?

People need to have children to ease their gynaecological problems? What a load of old tish tosh (and what a selfish reason to have children!)

not only is that a pile of rubbish but plain stupidity. If anything pregnancy increases your changes of gaining gynological problems. What gynological problems would be relieved by having children? None that I can think of or that has been documented in all the world's medical history. If women don't want children, more power to them. This world is overpopulated as it is. God knows I fear the UK or the US might become another China concerning population control.

Just dysmenorrhoea, fibroids and endometriosis to name a few. Yes, we do have a population problem but that DOES NOT change FACTS.

I checked out all of those illnesses, nowhere documented could I find that becoming pregnant would relieve you of those illnesses. Those illnesses are a cause of infertility so other measures need to be taken to correct those before a woman can even become pregnant. What facts are you discussing?

How funny!

1. I've NEVER heard that dysmenorrhoea causes infertility! I had painful periods for 20 years and my doctor practically begged me to have a baby to get rid of that particular problem. The pain was so bad that I was doubled up in pain for one day each month. After I had a baby I NEVER had that problem again.

2. Having children PREVENTS fibroids. Another medical FACT.

3. Endometriosis disappears after having a child. Mine did. FACT.

I guess you all need a bit more info to make things a bit clearer.

I am 34 and been with the girl for 5 months. I have always wanted children and believe it's important to make this clear quite early to a partner incase 2 or 3 years down the line, you may want differant things.

This subject was mentioned about 2 months into the relationship and although she said she has never wanted them, she would be prepared to have one if it was important to me. Initially I was happy but then thought she shouldn't have a baby to keep me happy, it should be because she wants one. Recently I got the news she doesn't was children and is not likely to.

Yes, I do love her for what she is and there is no guarantee I would have children with another partner so I have some tricky decisions to make.
There is nothing wrong with a man longing for children like many women do. I have been a step father to 3 kids and found the experience rewarding confirming my wishes to be a great father to kids of my own.

Thank you for all your comments.

2 months into the relationship and you're talking about kids already ? I think you have to live with a person atleast two or three years before even thinking about mentioning the prospect. No wonder many relationships with kids break up, people make huge decisions way too early.

what sense does it make to spend three years of your life with someone with the intention of more and one person doesn't even want kids and the other does? a waste of time for nothing. issues like that need to be cleared from the start of dating so both of you feel this is a relationship worth having

You mean, talking about it without hardly knowing the person ? Ah ok

Good for them then! Hooray! Yippee! Wonderful! Celebrate!

I'm not saying that they should try to have children. I'm just saying that other women are designed differently, that's all.

DOCTOR: I'm afraid the only cure for your painful periods is for you to have a baby. Please just have a baby, it will make you feel better, please please please have a baby! Oh pleeeease!

Sorry but I can't picture a doctor EVER begging someone to have a baby. What a load of crap. You must be seeing some dodgy doctor down an alleyway somewhere.

That is a very sick thing to say.

Do you have no empathy for women who can't conceive ?

How heartless can you be to go on and say ''Good for them then! Hooray! Yippee! Wonderful! Celebrate!'' ? You must be a very sick and very sad individual.

Think about how many people aren't capable of raising children and are still shitting them out like watermelons !!!!!!!! People should take tests before having children !!!!!!!! How many mentally unstable people do you already know who have children !!!!!!!!! I can think of quite a few !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some even have children and prefer to come onto messageboards, using multiple usernames and FIGHT WITH STRANGERS, instead of LOOKING AFTER THEIR CHILDREN !!!!

People like that SHOULD NOT BE HAVING children !!!!!!!!

No, I was just agreeing with the spirit of this board. The "WE DON'T WANT CHILDREN. THEY ARE AN INCONVENIENCE AND ANYWAY THE WORLD IS OVERPOPULATED ALREADY" mentality which I have encountered here over and over and over again. I have not actually come across ONE PERSON on this board who was upset because they COULD NOT have children. Get your facts right BEFORE you accuse ME of being heartless.

I outta here.
