Germany SURRENDERED to
Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (abbreviated as SHAEF, pronounced "shāf"), was the headquarters of the Commander of Allied forces in north west Europe, from late 1943 until the end of World War II. General Dwight D. Eisenhower was in command of SHAEF throughout its existence.

&

The Soviet High Command.

Not BRITAIN!

And just exactly who took Berlin?

Eisenhower was an idiot. Macarthur was your best.

As usual, the Americans like to think they are in charge.

Do tell us Fred - HOW MANY BATTLES DID IKE PLAN? HOW MANY WAS HE IN? HOW MANY DID HE FIGHT?

I'll tell you - SOD ALL!

The Commander of the Army was:

FIELD MARSHAL, BERNARD MONTGOMERY, 1st VISCOUNT MONTGOMERY OF EL ALIMEIN.

Eisenhower DID NOTHING.

Shot yourself in the foot there.

If I totally IGNORE who Germany & Japan surrendered too... Ya.
We Americans are damn tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November and removed all doubt.

Eisenhower was nothing more than a clerk.

He was a disgrace as a General, and did not deserve the rank of Corporal. In fact, Hitler was more worthy of being a General than him.

He was also a crap President.

But that's American's. What's changed? They still have backward generals and shite Presidents.

Indeed - that the United Kingdom won the war.

The only one to stand firm.

The only one to stand alone.

The only one to stand for freedom and democracy.

The only one to break the codes.

The only one to plan the invasion.

The only one to defend the nation.

This is the truth. Americans can suck on it.

Colonel, Colonel, such hostility! EZ bud, you're gonna give yourself a stroke.

Americans took governing rights away from England, and there has always been a sore spot about that, I get it. France was and is not very high on England's buddy list, I get that, too. But it's all in the past. No point painting all Americans with such a broad brush.

Have a pint and a smoke if that's your thing.

I can't say it is my thing.

By the way, all I expect is historical honesty. I wonder if the people who claimed the US "saved our ass" would exactly, and precisely show how exactly that was the case.

No doubt they have been told it, and slavishly believe it, but I'd like to understand how exactly they think they achieved it. Because I expect I could debunk every single thing said!

For Fred:

On Eisenhower:

"Although his administrative abilities had been noticed, on the eve of the U.S. entry into World War II he had never held an active command and was far from being considered as a potential commander of major operations."

He was shite.

He also held the rank of Major for SIXTEEN YEARS! He was no good! Crap! A disgrace!

I think history would agree that Axis powers dragging the USA into the war was a huge error. From an industrial and manpower standpoint, the Germans got overwhelmed with the number of fresh men and armor on the ground. Patton was one that did kick ass and take names. Rommel was petrified of Patton. The entire US industrial structure went into war production. Tanks, planes, weapons, ammo, and the Atlantic fleet was able to get those supplies and troops to the European theater.

In the P acific, well Japan was going to be a long, bloody drawn out engagement that would have not only killed hundreds of thousands of allied troops, but resources would have been so greatly diminished I personally doubt we would yet be recovered. I see more than a little irony in the fact that had the Atomic bomb NOT Been used, hundreds of thousands of lives would have been lost, yet they were used, and still, hundreds of thousands of lives were lost.

I don't know, maybe I'll drink that pint, if you don't mind?

Another question, Please.....

Since this topic contains facts and fiction in it, I want to ask to the people of the United Kingdom about something that I read that I find hard to believe. It is true or false that the UK has removed the Holocaust from its school curriculum because it was 'offensive' to the Muslim population which claims it never occurred? :?

I hope that isn't true. There's no way it would happen here. We have a TV station called "SBS" that has very hard-hitting documentaries, including very many about the Holocaust. The documentaries contained video of the victims at the time.-Live and dead. Including every aspect of that most abysmal of atrocities.
