Hi Julia,

Thanks for your reply, _ I went to work barefoot again today, even though it was very wet this morning, and this time did'nt bother taking any shoes with me.

I quite like your idea of carring a pair of flip flops in a bag and may do this.

I see what you mean about wearing socks in the winter, on reflection probably not a good idea!! Like you I am unsure what I will do when the weather gets colder, but if I wear shoes or boots I will definatelt take them off in work, - do you feel the same? I may see if I can find some hard- soled slippers that I could wear to work, or possibly some of the fashionable print wellies and then just take them off in work, - What do you think?

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Zoe.

My feet aren't tough enough - and the open-toe fashion isn't in Vogue.

Thongs though are a good idea - Get a really decent pair over the web.

At home, I wear sandals - slippers do exactly as they say - Slip.

I think I will just play it by ear (or should that be foot?).
When I feet start feeling the cold I'll decide what I'm going to wear but I suspect that once I'm at work it will be barefeet still.
All the staff in the office and warehouse are used to seeing me walking around barefoot by now. I joined some of my colleagues in the pub after work today and no one complained because I was barefoot.
Going on holiday for the next week (hopefully barefoot most of the time I want to keep hardening my soles).

Hi Julia,

Just a quick question and I hope you don't mind me asking, but what do you do when at the pub and you go to the loo? Do you wear the flip flops you mentioned or just go barefoot, and watch where you walk?

Hope to hear from you soon, and have a good holiday.

Hi Zoe,

Over the past week I've found that a decent looking pub usually has decently clean loos so I just go barefoot and look where I'm walking.
Even if I was unfortunate enough to tread in something nasty its not going to actually harm me unless I've got some serious cuts on my feet and feet wash quite easily anyway. Not happened yet though.
I've had a wonderful week even though the weather wasn't brilliant and I've not worn shoes at all. It took the friends I was visiting a little while to get used to taking me out barefoot but I had no problems. I even went barefoot to the ballet at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury with no problems (I had my flip-flops in my bag just in case) and we ate at a quite upmarket restaurant without anyone commenting on my lack of shoes!
How are things with you?

Julia

wow that is incredibly fantastic! i so much like this idea of goin' barefoot, but, unfortunetly, there's a lot of glass on the streets in my city so i can't. when in holiday, that's a different thing. i even climbed on a mountine barefoot. and i don't mind pebbles, for it's kinda of massage for feet. anyway, it's so healthy and feelin' so free walkin' barefoot! i surely support everyone who wanna do it! :)

I've just come back from a holiday in Sri Lanka, where, outside the major towns anyway, about 30% of the population, of all ages, goes barefoot as a matter of course, all day long, to any location, by any means of transport including motorbikes. Given that our streets are generally cleaner, I can't therefore see any reason why anyone should not go barefoot if so desired, excepting of course having to put up with the adverse reactions of one or two people.

EARTH SHOES R LIKE GOING BARE FOOT

Postby GENEIUS on Sun Aug 27, 2006 7:45 pm

Dont go barefoot - wear Earth shoes to have comfiest feet around, they are healthy too so your posture looks great and you get a workout in them also but they look totally normal and so funky plus a vegan range of shoes is always cool

If they are just like going barefoot then why bother wearing them?
Just go barefoot and enjoy feeling the different surfaces beneath your feet.

Hi Julia,

Thanks for your messages, - sorry about the delay in replying as I have been away. Glad you had a good holiday.

I am still going barefoot and loving it, and have had no problems going shoeless in work. I found the same thing as you about pub loos, - just watch where I walk and wash my feet when I get home.

You mentioned going to an upmarket resturant barefoot, - I hope you don't mind me asking but were you wrearing a skirt, or trousers, i.e was it obvious that you were barefoot. I would like to able to do the same sort of thing.

By the way are you still going to work barefoot, and what do you do if the weather is wet, - I am been to work in rhe rain barefoot a few ties over the last few days.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Zoe.

Hi Zoe,
I went to the restaurant in a skirt (I don't usually wear trousers) so it was very obvious that I was barefoot. I did have my brief flip-flops in my bag in case there was a problem).
Yes I am certainly still going to work barefoot and intend to keep on doing so for the time being. When it gets really cold I'll have to see but I don't want to go back to wearing shoes if I can help it. Now my soles are getting hardened I suspect it will be peoples attitudes that will become a problem before my feet being cold bothers me. Only yesterday someone on the train asked me whether my feet were cold and it was still August!

Hi Julia,

you said you will carry on going barefoot even in cold weather.
Thats very brave and selfconfident! I think once you are used to it it shouldnt be a problem. As far as I know its always very healthy going barefoot. Some people do so all year round. What would you do if it snows? Thanks for you answer and let us know how you go on!

I don't think I'll continue with barefeet once it gets really cold, I'm just going to take it as it comes and if I begin to feel uncomfortable then obviously I'll put something on my feet. Certainly don't intend to go barefoot in the snow.
