I don't know why so many people have a hang-up about this.
Certainly in the UK it is becomming far more common / acceptable for people to go shoeless in work.
I work as a bank clerk and like you often work shoeless. In the winter I wear trousers and ankle boots to work, and always take off my boots in the brnach and just go in my socked feet, even in front of customers, - no one has complained and my attitude is why not!! If I wear plain black socks with black trousers very few people even notice that I am not wearing anything on my feet.
Do what you find comfortable.
Jane.
It makes me very sad that now even the UK is losing his decency.
Being barefoot at your office?
Good lord!
It's such an odd hippthing. Saying: "I disrespect my culture, I don't care about being professional. I don't care about society and our economie. I am just another egoist mo**er*u**e* who sits here to get his paycheck at the end of the month."
I dislike casual fridays, I dislike smart-casual and I especially dislike employes dropping esential parts of their clothing.
If we made it depend on this people, they come barenaked to their office.
"Ya man, I was not realy in the mood this morning to dress up. Ya don't mind, do ya?"
It is really time we, as civilians, should show a bit more respect to our culture and our role in our society.
Everyman should go to it's work in a well fitting black or characotical suit, with a cleen white dress shirt, a fitting necktie, black business socks and proper cleaned black dress shoes.
And for women the same:
away with those jeans and sluthy belly baring tops.
Put on your kneehigh skirt, blouse, blazer
stockings and high heels.
It's time your folks get some decency and some respect for your nations!
