As in reverse psychology, what is the key reason (or contributory factors) that older children for wanting to going back to wearing nappies after some time or outright refusing to giving them up in the first instance? Even parents sometimes give into their demands.
The most popular being terry towelling followed by disposables, pampers etc many of which are not baby sizes
Any ideas ?

Katie has not had any other dry nights as yet although she has woke several times really bursting to go but as soon as she stands up she starts to wee herself.

How is your kids getting on..any progress

Both of mine still wet in the mornings. Thanks to you for the tip on the Suprima plastic pants. They fit both girls very well and keep everything covered and the beds and bedclothes stay dry. Particularly with the older one.
Also nice to know there are other mums out there with older bedwetters.

How are you and your girls?

I'm glad you are happy with the Suprima Pants for your girls, I thinks they are great and you will find they never leak even if you girls were to wet again in the morning before they come off. Katie does that now and again and the nappy is soaked but her PJ's are Bone dry.

Katie has not been well this week and been of School with a flu like bug and a urine infection

Monday Morning Katie woke up feeling dizzy and very hot with a runny nose so i tok her to the doctor who said to keep her in bed and gave me some antibiotics for her. So when we got home i put katie in a nappy and took her to bed. I heard her shouting later in the afternoon and wet up to check on her. she said she was bursting to wee...i checked her nappy which was alredy wet from her being sleeping so just had her pee herself and then changed her nappy, i didn't want her getting up.

Tuesday and Wednesday were the same and she wore a nappy all day both days.

Thursday she got to get up and lie on the sofa with me and watch some TV but she was running back and forward to the toilet busting to pee all the time every 2-3 mins and only doing a few drips. After about two hours of this i decided that the best option would be a nappy and i just had her use it as most of the time she just done a few drips but a couple of times she did actully soak herself...i felt so sorry for her.

Today she seems to have another problem in that when she feels the urge to go wee she instantly starts to pee herself she seems to get no warning. I have put her in a nappy now as she wet her ants twice this morning....i called the doctor who said that it is posibly the urine infection coming to a head and to go see him on monday if it's not any better but to use protection on her just now.

I just checked on Katie a few Mins ago and she is fast asleep, Wet...not that i expected anything esle but does seem to be a bit cooler so hopefully will start to feel a bit better tomorrow. I will just keep her in her nappies for the next couple of days and take her to the toilet if she asks to go and manages to make it.

You're right we have had no leaks with the Suprima pants. The oldest usually wets pretty heavy to during the night.
We are all fine and hope that Katie gets better soon.
We have had a good year. Both of the girls spent a couple of days home with a bug earlier on. Otherwise no more bugs or illnesses.

Sounds like some kind of bug. I take it that she isn't a baby, is her nappies a tempoary (when ill) or ongoing thing ? I'm sure she'll stop wetting over time.

I take it you're using Pull ups ? Like my neice, consider terry nappies for teens that has a heavy grading for thickness and absorbency, thay are still manufactured as baby nappies. They're specially designed for constant dribbles. Save you all those disposable costs too ! Explain to her that she's not a baby and they are to keep her comfy-dry overnight particualrly when folding and pinning them on her.

Glad to hear you guys are good

Katie is a little bit better today although she is still wetting herself.

She is still getting next to no warning, she will feel the urge to go and i think the longest she managed to hold today was 10-15 seconds before she peed herself...didn't even make it as far as the stairs.

Hopefully tomorrow she will be a wee bit better again and maybe make it to the toilet.

Katie has a small bladder and this causes her to Wet the Bed, she has had 1 dry night in her sweet little life. We have tried all the gadgets and gismos and alarms and nothing has helped really.

I have had Katie at the doctors who say that it is normal for a lot of kids to wet the bed and that she will grow out of it but to use protection in the mean time.

I was using Disposible Nappies and pull ups at night but about 6 months ago i started getting leaks and wet PJs so decided to use terry nappies and Plastic Pants and have found that Katie is making good progress. Katie has started to wake most nights when she wets herself because she feels the wetness that the Dispisible Nappies sooked up quickly, she has even started waking up some nights bursting to go to the toilet but at the moment most of the time when she sits up to get out of bed or stants up she will start to pee herself (the doctor said this is normal that the brain is starting to get the bladder signals at night just to late and that with time she will make it).

Katie does have daytime issues aswell because of her bladder when she has to go pee she has to go or within 2-3 mins she will loose control and pee herself. At school she gets to go to the toilet right away no questions asked and we haven't had any wetting accidents at school thankfully. When katie is out with me and im not sure where the toilets may be she wears a pampers 6 nappy and if she needs to go i will endevour to find a toilet for her right up to the point of finding one or she tells me its too late....I always make an effort to get her to the toilet because i don't want her getting lazy. I hear so many little kids telling their parents at the top of their voice (you know what toddlers are like) I need a pee pee only to be told just go in your pull up or it's okay you have a nappy on when the toilet is just a few feet away. Don't get me wrong i have told Katie just to pee herself but only when i know i can't get her to a toilet in time like on the bus home from town which is 35mins or something like that.

Katie knows that the nappies are for protection not punishment and is cool with them most of the time. I do struggle some days to get her to put a nappy on if we are going out but she knows its for the best.

So Do you have a bed wetter?

As its only been 6 months and she's still small, don't panic. is katie wearing baby or teen size terry nappies ? If her nappies are still wet in the morning afer a night changes she is not ready (probably like my neice's child, 'baby dribbling' . How wet would you say her terry towels are ? This should indicate signs of progress.
When she's desparate, ask her to hold in her nappies as long as she can- the nappy becomes wet eventually but the urge becomes less over a few weeks.

At Night Katie is getting almost no warning at all....she is waking up just at the point where if she was asleep she would be starting to pee but because she wakes she feels the sudden urge to go. If i asked her to hold at this point she would be peeing herself in seconds as that is pritty much how long she can wait and even at that when she stands up the weight and pressure on her bladder most of the time is too much and all she has time to do is cross her legs and grab the front of her nappy in and efford to hold it but by that time its already to late and she is peeing herself.

she is making progress though which is good.

I have to agree with you that when I get my girls ready for bed that it's a good time to remind them that the nappies and plastic pants are for helping them enjoy a good nights sleep without waking up in a wet bed. They are also reminded that they are not babies or being punished and they are okay with that.
You have a niece that wets at night?

Probably best to let her bladder mature properly.
Rather than making her burst standing, let her continue sleeping (like my neice does), she wil start 'leaking' bit by bit through the night rather than bursting- won't put too much strain on her bladder. You will need to pin double terries on her though. Which supplier did you buy the nappies from ?

Has she been ok wearing these teen terries, is she finding them comfy-soft or is she finding them too baby/embarassment ? I guess she knew they weren't white bath towels you told her ! Remeber not to mention that word 'nappies' when changing- causes embarassment. Do you say or use a particular tone of voice when changing ?
