it's actually sad. he seems so unhappy and he should be on top of the world, so things are not good in his life right now. it's pure speculaton, but he looks dejected and crestfallen as if he is trapped in a miserable situation. i know how it feels, and there's no way to win. your partner refuses to let you bow at gracefully, and also refuses to try to get along. the ole damned if you do, damned if you don't.
