Sounds like we have a few definitions of what a feminist is.

1) Hairy legged man hater with an agenda. (and men are barriers to world domination.)
2) Person who thinks women should have the same result for the same effort (and same responsibility.)

I'd fall into the latter catagory and thus a feminist. I tend to doubt I'll be buying a strapon any time soon.

I believe the label for the first one is "feminazi", not feminist.

Granted, he worded it a little extremely. I do think what he really meant is he doesn't want his daughters to stay with a man that treats them like garbage. He is teaching them that they don't "need" a man to be complete and happy. That is a healthy attitude. Nothing wrong with being an individual instead of someone who relies on their worth being dependent on someone else's validation.

yeah, that was the only thing I had a bit of a problem with. But other than that, I see no reason why he would teach ANY of his children, son or daughter, anything different.

Allegedly lousy father? Is a man who abuses his wife (or any woman) in every way "allegedly lousy"? Or are you suggesting he is lying?

This story is on an internet forum, so it could easily be contrived. If sounds pretty fishy too, which is par for the course on a bitterly anti-male forum like this. You sound like a feminist who must believe any man is evil just because any person who posts a message says it. It's very possible the story teller is not even a "he".

. wrote:Boasting about how men are chauvinists and you are going to train your daughters to discard men like accessories and how you are such an exception, is trying to prove that you are so much better than not only your father, but most men. Your not only trying to prove it to us, your trying to prove it to yourself.

He is talking about the far end of the spectrum, abusers and users, which are men like you who have a very negative attitude about all women due to being very hurt themselves.

No, he said "most men" are abusers, and it doesn't excuse how he's teaching his alleged daghters to treat men.

And you know nothing about me. You've revealed a lot about yourself in this message even if I couldn't guess who you've posted as before. You consider my intolerance for this alleged person's teaching his daughters to treat men like crap, and his painting most men as woman haters, as some kind of "negative attitude about all women" That just reveals your own bigotry. I didn't say anything about all or most women. In fact, most women are fairly decent people, unlike yourself.

. wrote:Do you have a problem with that? These types are usually the weak ones who feel the need to control women with whatever force is necessary. It sounds like you are one of them, who believes women "deserve it". Newsflash: NO ONE deserves abuse, whether physical, emotional or mental.

You call me these things even though I said nothing where this can be inferred. I think you're decribing something about yourself. The way you try to portray me into some kind of "woman controller" is evidence of something controlling about yourself. You suggest that I abuse women (probably just because I'm a man), yet you're the one being abusive here. I never said any woman deserves abuse, but you and the alleged father (who may be one and the same) said men deserved what he's teaching his daughters to do to men.

Your alleged father was wrong for how he treated his wife, and your wrong for how your treat men, and how you're training another generation to t5reat men.

Is "deriving his view of women" from childhood a justification to abuse? He is teaching his daughters to demand respect and not settle for less.

No, "he" said he is teaching his daughters to discard men like accessories and to believe as he does that most men are treat women badly. You only decide to view the teaching of this misandrist feminism as "teaching his daughters to demand respect and not settle for less".

I'm sure you wouldn't like it if a man taught his sons to discard women like accessories. You would call it misogyny. If you believed in equal respect for men and women you would call the alleged man's teachings sexism too.

. wrote:Oooo, that's horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is not teaching them to "hate" men and/or abuse thier sons!!! What's wrong with boys being taught to respect women?

You have some kind of an imagination. What's wrong with teaching girls to respect men? I'm sure you would not be talking about the same kind of respect. He's obviously teaching his alleged daughters to disrespect and abhor men.

. wrote:If more parents, especially fathers who have the most influence over daughters, would teach women this, there wouldn't be such a pattern of abuse. It's criminal.

It's because too many parents, male and female, teach children to have higher respect for women and to treat women better than men, that too many women are spoiled and there is so much low regard for men in our society.

If women were taught from respect for men or responsibility for their own actions, there wouldn't be so much child abuse also.

. wrote:And I argue that women are abusers of their sons. If anything, it's usually a strong bond, sometimes to the point of unhealthy, but not abusive!

It's sexist of you to ignore the fact that women aren't capable of being abusive. Your bias leads you to view abusiveness from women as being just "a strong bond, sometimes to the point of unhealthy". Maybe the alleged man's father's alleged treatment of his wife was just "a strong bond, to the point of being unhealthy". You see abusiveness differently when it comes from a woman as opposed to a man because of your sexism.

. wrote:I believe strongly in equal rights and respect for women.

Giving superior respect to women and teaching that men should be treated like dogs is not equal rights. Your definition of "equal rights" is plain old fashion sexist bullsh:t.

. wrote:Men who have a problem with that are scared of their own masculinity.

Men who don't want be be treated worse or less valuable than women, or as badly as this alleged father is teaching his daughters to treat men, have self-respect and want to be treated with equal respect.

. wrote:I am definitely not saying women who treat their man badly is any better,...

That's more BS. You defended this alleged man's claim that he teach his daughters to treat men badly and how he said most men are like his alleged father.

...but how many cases of that kind of abuse are there? RARE.

You're making things up again to suit your anti-male attitude. Overwhelmingly, child abuse is perpectrated by women, not men. Spousal (partner) abuse is almost as frequently committed by females and by males.

. wrote:If anything we are WAY too acomidating, always hoping if they are nice enough, giving enough those types of men will change and love them. That's rampant, look around.

Yeah, "those" men. As much as you despise men, you say you treat men too well. You're feminist white sheets are showing.

How do you know what he meant when that's not what he said? I can only go by what "he" said. His entire attitude towards men was completely distorted, negative and unhealthy. "His" claim that he will teach his daughters to treat men like trash is totally in line with his general regard or men, and possible of what he subconciously feels about himself.

Or did someone systematically drown all of your male children like Andrea Yates did? I'm sure a feminist would find a way to justify that too.

How dare you, guest who lacks the guts to register, suggest he aborted or murdered any son?

Actually, I did register, but intolerant bullies like you decided take care of that situation and that of a lot of other men who don't toe the feminist line. And your pious complaint is quite hypocritical since you posted as Guest as well.

Also, feminists do insist that women have a constitutional or even divine right to abort children, so you shouldn't be scolding me for asking if a woman executed her constitutional right.

People insist that a woman should not be found guilty of methodically killing her five children, one after the other. It's because of some accepted sexist notion that a woman could never do that and that a woman is incapable of taking responsibitity for her own actions. Since they don't think she committed a crime or should be punished equally to a man for the same horrific crime, you shouldn't get pissed off if I ask if somebody drowned this man's children. Considering Goodguy's feelings about other men he may not have a problem with denying life to new members of the "abusive" sex. I simply find it coincidental that this Goodguy thinks so lowly of men but manages to have five daughters.

It was interesting reading your post Goodguy.

It's nice for daughters to have a father who teaches them to have respect for themselves.
