can a man be a feminist?

As a young boy I often fantisized of being superman and coming to the rescue of my mother who suffered (in mind, body and spirit) and the hands of my father who was nothing short of a tyrant (it's a very long story) but I said that to say this: As a defender of my mother, brother of three sisters, best friend to my wife, father of five daughters, I just have to say that I despise a chauvinist man, I despise a woman beater, control freaks and playboy wannabe's (womanizer) while on the other hand I also despise the spinless, gutless, the selfish, needy, jealous and insecure man. It's my opinion that a lot of men (if not most) have no business being in a relationship with a woman. I will teach my daughters to strive for higher education, self reliance and being independant (in need of no man), to have self respect (to love who and what they are). I will teach them that men are just accessories to be discarded if they don't match or measure up. I pity the fool who gets in the way. My gosh! am I a feminist?

No, you are just a good guy and a prize for a lucky girl. All you advocate is that women be treated with respect. Kudos!

which hand do you fit into

I expected such a response. but it isn't fair not to mention which hand you fit into. Do you fit into the chauvinist side or on the other hand do you fit into the spinless, gutless, insecure side? which one are you? It's funny how your types always respond to this kind of pressure by thinking of the anus and something penetrating it. Hmmmm.

I see i flushed one out already. You see ladies, this is how you flush them out. Apply a little pressure, and like scum, they always come to the surface.

I think men should respect women and there should be equality . Then again one of the most boring men I ever met was some college teacher who tried to be a male femanist . Kept trying to say he wasn't a sexist , talked all about how he was a femanist , how bad male chauvanists are , called history in schools herstory and , said women should be allowed to fight in the army . At first I thought he was just trying to be slick to get laid or gay . Then I realized he was a dizzy idiot butting into what is really a woman's issue to sound cool and enlightened. Who wants a guy like that ?

There will always be zealots in any emotional issue. At least he wasn't the other extreme! :D

My wife and I (both) have our own business's on top of raising our girls. It's tough but we manage. And yes we do share household resposibilities. At times it's our only chance to spend time with each other and my girls as I am on the road a lot. However, my house keeping skills were actually learned in the military starting with boot camp and continuing thru more than 14 years of service.

i'm not sure which "side" YOU are on. i am an intellegent, rational man. i am an artist who works construction. i am in touch with my emotions but don't wallow in narcisism. i seek out and have had the pleasure of friendships and lasting intimate relationships with strong, independent, bright, creative, articulate women who are warm, loving and both emotionally available and growing. people's lives change. it is a rare relationship that lasts from youth to death. all of the goodbyes that i've experienced, even the most heartbreaking, have been as graceful as possible considering the duress of a split; after all, this is someone you once loved, no? i am NOT, i assure you, someone's "accessory" to be "discarded". nor would i be inclined to become emotionally involved with anyone who felt, acted, or "was taught" to behave in this manner.
i trust you mis-spoke ??
