The boy's growing curiosity does not excuse his behaviour. Is it all right because the 15 year old boy's parents never taught him that it is wrong to invade someone's privacy, to take and use something without asking, or to return damaged or soiled goods? I doubt it. If he did not have the convenience of a sister or mother in the same household, he would probably be stealing underwear from the neighbour's laundry or a public wash and dry.

The latter may be a behaviour that develops in the boy after he leaves home. His curiosity may have gotten the best of him, but he did do something wrong. Hence, some form of discipline is needed. Now what would be the best way of handling this? Take away all his computers and game consoles, and ground him?

Jin, I'd say parental intervention is desperately needed. But I think they aren't very involved here. I also think that maybe the help of a child psychologist might help him. That's kind of what I was driving at with the deeper issues. He needs to learn and earn and SHOW respect towards others. Stealing intimate articles of clothing like panties for sexual gratification, isn't going to accomplish any of the above.
