Basically your son is on the verge so what you really need to do is humiliate him in the act somehow to cause aversion.

That will just make him feel guilty and about and maybe stop for a while, but if he's really inclined to do it you'd have just made his life more difficult

Having accepting parents would make the world of difference

let him do whatever he wants - dont judge him - dont make assumptions about what or who he is.

How is your son doing? By now his ears should be healed enough that he can remove his piercing studs and begin wearing regular earrings. Is he still wearing nail polish and makeup to school? How have his friends, both male and female, reacted to his new appearance?

That is so awesome of you to be supportive of your son and to be there for him. I'm sure that knowing he has a mother who loves him unconditionally means the world to him. Is your daughter supportive as well? Have you taken him shopping yet? I bet he would be thrilled to have you go with him to pick out and try on clothes, makeup, and accessories like a new pair of earrings or a necklace!

Pierced navels are so sexy! A tiny diamond nose stud might look sexy on them too, especially with multiple pierced ears. Did he keep his nails after the dance or did he have them taken off or redone again? Is he wearing guys clothes or is he wearing girls clothes to school, and how are his teachers reacting to his appearance?

Wow it sounds like your son is real lucky to have a mom like you! You give him so much support and accept the things he wants to do. My brother got caught by our mom trying my make-up on. We'd talked about it and I said he could if he really wanted to. Our mom went mad and he got into serious trouble. I hope your son is still enjoying just being himself and not getting hassled by teachers or other kids at school.

Your son must look somewhat feminine with earrings, makeup and nail polish. How does he wear his hair? What do the other children think about his appearance, particularly the girl he went to the dance with?

At first when I read the whole thing I didnt have a good reaction but after reading things..well..you are a wonderful mother helping him experiment and find things that make him feel right. It could be he is a someone that just doesnt follow the crowd or maybe he is curious about girlie things. Either way you could encourage him. I hope I can be the mother you are.

If it was a girl would you let her? If the answer is yes then what gives you the right to impress such strong gender roles on him. If he want to play (and lets face it at 6 thats all it is) with nail varnish whats the problem?
