I am a single dad (wife ran off, probably with some guy) of two daughters, one is 9 and the other is 10. It was hard taking care of two kids without my wife but I got through it without too much problems. well one summer when the weather has been getting really hot out and I cant afford AC so we have fans going in every room. The girls have been complaining that it is really hot in thier rooms and I suggested that they sleep the same way I do when it is hot out, in the buff. They were uncomfortable at first but they eventually grown to love it. Now they sleep in the nude all the time. I have recieved mixed reviews about how I handled that situation. Some parents say it is okey and others call me a pervert to let my daughters sleep like that. What is your opinions?

I'm a single dad and i would never tell my daughter to sleep nude.
I don't sleep nude either now cause I became a father. Wear bottoms will not and i repeat not make you any hotter while in bed, I wear underwear and shorts, and if its really hot I open a window, the same as i would open a window in her room, she will take her pyjam top off but leave her bottoms on and she doesn't have a problem..
Also you can buy a fan as they are cheap and do the job.

Can you imagine your daughters saying to someone my dad tells me to sleep in the nude?

I think you came up with a solution that obviously suited your children, you havent suggested that you are some kind of perv, they mentioned it too hot, you cant afford AC and if the fans arent enough and they uncomfortable then by all means give them your opinion, whether they take you up on it or not is there decision, but they obviously took your advice! There is nothing wrong with having your children sleep in the nude. There is nothing wrong with family nudity. I was raised on a farm and our family all swam nude in the creek that ran through our property. My Mum and Dad, my brothers, sister and I all slept in the nude. My wife and I have raised our children not to be ashamed of their bodies. We have casual nudity in our home, and we belong to a private swim and tennis club where people are nude most of the time. The mix of ages runs from babes still in the womb to people in their late 80's. Children are natural nudist. Just make sure you use common sense and sun screen. We are too concern with body image, that is why so many girls are so deep into diets. Famlies who enjoy casual nudity are not perverts. Sex has nothing to do with family nudity. We are certainly not perverts.

People love to see evil and dark perverted reason's in other actions. Just try swimming without a bathing suit and experience the joy of water against your skin. It is lovely.

sleeping is sleeping, regardless of what you wear. You won't know it, you're asleep! attaching sexuality to sleeping in the nude isn't the best way to go, IMO. If you catch the kids creeping into each others rooms nude, maybe it's time for a chat. But if they are in their own rooms, sound asleep and nude.....let them sleep!

I think it is ugly and repulsive to be walking naked in your home in front of kids. Cant imagine all the hanging things shaking while you're walking or going up or down the staircase. Though kids are allowed to swim or suddenly rush out of the bathroom naked, that doesnt mean nudity should be encouraged. Why should they sleep in nude just because it is hot ? Is there no fan or air conditionning ? Are two pieces of thin clothing too hot to want to go naked ? What about in winter ? Dont they need to be covered up ? If one cant afford a fan or air condition, how can they afford a heater ? Also, the fact that women tend to have some liquid coming out from their private parts make it all the more neccessary for them to be wearing panties all the time. If a couple likes to be sexual, I'd recommend wearing bathrobe rather than go nude. A little of privacy is more sexual. Going naked is like porn.

So what's the big deal, who's gonna see them in their sleep? If we have come to this extreme of torturing our children by forcing them to sleep with clothes on even in staggering heat because otherwise it would be 'perversion' I should think we really have gone nuts. Next thing we'll be hearing that they must keep their clothes on even during bath time in case somebody might see them. This is ridiculous and I call these people as paranoid and neurotic. During the summertime when it's very hot everyone in my family wears only underpants or panties for kids or just boxer briefs for adults whether sleeping or around the house, to wear clothes indoors when it's very hot without AC is nothing short of lunatic.

Wow, okay I am now 18, but I have been sleeping in the nude for about two years. Seeing as I have only had one boyfriend and have not yet become a prostitute, I don't think there have been any ill side effects of my sleeping in the nude.

116-122 degree days making it about 95 at night. Yes there is such a thing as Ac but there is all so swamp cooling. even with that it get frikin hot at night. I have to sleep nude i sweat so much and my windos are open and a fan on and the swamp cooler going
its still friking hot. if i wear boxers or even tighties oi usually wind up with a rath ina cpouple of days. you can swert that much. i started sleeping in the nude since i was 6 it was too much not to!. id usually wake up with out sheets on it was so hot.

You are in the southern, desert of the state? Higher elevations get much cooler at night, like around Flagstaff. Phoenix, Tucson, etc.......high heat, I've been there. The good and bad of it is that it is a dry heat. So the 95 degrees is still hot, but not like the high humidity and heat of someplace like Louisiana or Florida. You wake up sweating at night, and the dry heat can dehydrate you deceptive fast. I never saw a place there that didn't have a lot of fans....floor, window, ceiling......lots of blades always turning!

Nudity does not equate to sex, and keeping the body hydrated is a matter of health and safety, something people need to put as priority #1
