coming off microgynon 30-lost weight?

Postby thunderstorm654 » Thu Sep 08, 2005 12:56 pm

hi. i recently had my a level results and during that period i completely lost my appetite and lost about 5 pounds. i had been taking microgynon 30 for about a year and a half, i decided to come off it in case that contributed to me feeling depressed.sinc then ive been on hpliday and ate pretty muh the same as my other friends (i didnt miss any meals). however i just weighed myself and ive lost another 2 pounds. im getting worried as my bmi is underweight, im 5 foot 8 and meant to weigh about 8 st 10 min, i now weigh 8st 4. i used to weigh 8st 13 whilst i was taking my exams.
im worried about this lost of weight. however i did put on weight when i started the pill, i cant remember how much i weighed before starting but it was at least half a stone less..
could it be coming off the pill thats made me lose this weight as i am eating "normally" or thereabouts again?
im panicing a bit :S
i came off the pill about 2/3 weeks ago now.

i was on micro30 and i put on weight and my boobs went massive but then i came off and lost all the weight i put on and more. so it probably is that. but maybe you should go the docs if you are worried? but im sure u'll be fine. i look mingin now so im back on the pill. im on a different one though and its apparently the one everyone complains about because it makes them put on weight.

coming off pill

Postby ladylala » Mon Sep 25, 2006 9:02 am

I have been off microgynon for only 2 months after 20 years on it!! I expected my first period to be heavy as on pill they were very light and only lasted 4 days. To be honest i can hardly remember what my periods were like before the pill. However my first period was very light hardly anything and now im on my second and again so very little, less than i had on the pill. Also i suffered a very dry patch of skin on my forehead and nose and chin which i put down to changes in my body and hormones after years of the pill,as i have never suffered with this before. My skin is almost clear now but rather than loose weight i have put weight on!
I really didn't know what to expect from coming off the pill but i thought i would feel better but im confused as to what is happening and only time will tell.
Reading different forums certainly helps as everyone is experiencing differnt things.

It's well within the boundaries of what is normal for you to lose weight coming off the pill esp. when combined with your exams/stress/not eating. If you feel okay and look okay and are eating normally don't worry about BMIs and all that rubbish, some people are just naturally slightly under the 'ideal' weight. You only need to worry if there is a continuing problem or you're unhealthy looking.

I had been on microgynon pill for 6 years, I discontinued it in March of this year because of the weight gain and had a non-hormonal IUD fitted. Since then the weight has been dropping of me and I am thrilled to bits. Now just need to get my butt in the gym and start toning.

And I was lucky in that the periods settled down straight away and I didnt have to wait & worry over them. Regular as clockwork now.

Postby Lucy Lu Mc L 17 xx » Thu Jan 25, 2007 4:56 pm

hey there, im 17 and have been taking microgynon for roughly 3 months but im going to come off it as ive noticed iv put a little weight on around my stomach which im a little annoyed about as im usually a slim size 8. ive also felt moody, had no motivation to do anything, felt very tired, cant shift the weight ive gained since being on it and am always hungry. ive been reading about women dropping the weight as soon as they come off it? is this true can anyone tell me because it's really getting me down. really bad...dont use it!

Microgynon 30

Postby zoanna » Fri May 25, 2007 11:19 am

It is such a huge relief to read these forums...i've been on microgynon 30 for about 10 years now...i get married this year and am trying to slim down, and have always blamed the fact i can't get to the weight i want on myself. but the fact is that i'm extremely active (run and weight train up to 5 times a week), i live on lean meat/veg/salad, don't eat chocolate and only have a few drinks on the weekend...and let's not even mention my serious lack of libido!! am going to try and book to see my doctor as having read so many other people's experiences, i think maybe it is the pill after all. why is it always on us? MEN should have to get involved a bit more!!!!!!!!!
