will i lose weight if come off pill?

Postby lilpanda on Wed Apr 13, 2005 12:02 pm

hi
i've been on pill nearly two years now, but am thinking of coming off it. mainly for two reasons, i still haven't got into a routine of remembering to take it at the exact time every day and have forgotten 3-4times :? and secondly because ever since i started on the pill i've put on weight as my mum likes to remind me! i like my slightly more curvy figure but have always been very skinny up until the pill so it seems strange, and would like to be slimmer again. (im currently 5foot 8 and 9.5stone) do any of you know if i will lose weight by coming off the pill? or am i more likely to put weight on again :?: thanks :)

Hey Guys,
Im so glad i looked on this site!! I've just come off 'ovysemen', i wanted a break because i heard u shd and also i put so much weight on after being on it for past 2.5 years!! However, im slightly worried cos a lot of u r sayin u put weight on?!! Is this normal? Have many people found this?
Anyway im about a week late but hopefully it's due to the break im having from the pill!! Dont worry too much peeps who think they may be pregnant, was chatting to a cppl of mates nad they suggested that the more u stress the more chance u hav of delaying ur period!!

Hehe, same as me! In Paris at the moment then going to Germany for a couple of months. What uni are you at? I'm at Manc and am also really looking forward to going back as I miss it, especially the nightlife! Not looking forward to all the essays and exams tho!

Anyway..I just came on here looking for reassurance. I came off the pill a in around January or February, and have had a period since, about 4 or 5 weeks after I'd come off it, but it has now been about 6 months since i had another, so I was getting worried. Have been seeing someone for a few weeks over here, and we've been using protection, but I always get really paranoid that something could have gone wrong without me knowing, and the idea of getting pregnant scares me so much! Have been in a few pharmacies today to look for a test, but can't seem to find one :-/ And I am too embarassed to ask! But anyway, reading about other people's experiences of coming off the pill has made me feel a little better,as it could be that my cycle has just gone strange (it was never regualr before I was on the pill anyway) Might still do a test tho, just to make sure!

Hi Ladies!

What a great forum this is! I came off the pill in February after being on it for 7 years....yikes! (25 yrs old) I recently got married and wanted to get my cycle somewhat regular for when/if we decide to start trying for kids. Well, I got my period right on time for the two months after I was first off the pill, and now I am a week late. I have taken several preg tests and they have been negative. It just dawned on me that this "late" period is probably due to having come off the pill. I was just so into the swing of things and I kind of thought the transition was over that I didn't even realize I might start to have troubles down the road. Anyway, I gained quite a bit of weight while on the pill and now since getting off of it have gained a little more, yet another reason I thought I might be pregnant. I'm just going to have to work harder for awhile until my body gets used to all of this shock. Anyway, it's nice to have heard that some of you have dealt with some of the same issues!

Coming off the pill

I came off the Pill 19th Feb and still no sign of a bloody (scuse the pun) period. I'm not pregnant as I've done a test, I'm normal weight, I probably drink a little more than I should, but my periods were like clock work when I started the pill, (10 years ago) Is this normal???
Also I had a mild eating disorder, nothing serious, and am really anxious as my husband and I want to start a familly. Any suggestions???

hey guys just out on interest, do any of you know why there are so many different types of the pill? my friends are on different ones to me. How do doctors know which to prescribe to you? (im on Microgynon 30) and do they make any difference?
I have been on pill for approx 2years now, but am hoping to come off it soon, for a variety of reasons: a) after all this time, im still a bit forgetful, and have taken the pill late on many occassions!! (less than 24 hours tho!) b) keep getting told that im more moody and c) have put on a bit of weight since starting on the pill...
if i am to come off the pill, is it likely i will put on more weight, or will i lose the weight that i originally put on???
Thanks

Hi Lauren,
just finish the pack and don't start another one. If you finish half way through you'll get your period with the next 2-3 days. Don't ask me how it works :D
I've been on the pill for 7 years and the last one was Yasmin. I haven't put on any weight when I started taking it but I put on 2-3 kilos when I stopped about 3 months ago. I haven't been eating any more and I'm still exercising a lot but I guess everyone's different. I put on weight easily so don't worry. Your body will sort itself out. I am now 2 weeks late with my period and wouldn't mind being pregnant but I don't think I am. I've had 3 negative tests. I think i'm just big time irregular. I'd always been so no change there. Anyway.... I don't suggest coming off if you don't want to get pregnant. I think my hormones have gone completely "hat stand" since coming off. You might also crave sex and boys more coz the pill seems to supress your appetite for sex. anyway, that's how I feel. I found myself fancying men I would never even thought about in that way.... Well, not good after being married for 4 months only :? Takes a lot of self control...
Anyway, good luck everyone.

periods and pill

Postby Tictoc on Thu May 12, 2005 9:16 pm

Hi can anybody give me some advice. I have been having period like cramps for a week or so now and keep expectin my period to come and it hasn't. I came off the pill about 2 months ago and now i am worried that i may be pregant because I haven't had a period since. Do you think this may be a normal thing or do you think I might be pregnant. I have read on the net that cramping can be an early sign of pregnancy. I am too scared to take a test because I am currently sitting my university finals. Help

Hi,

But to be honest being on the pill (microgynon)I have become emotionally unbalanced (been on it 2yrs or so), and yep totally get the loss of sexual appetite thing! Me and my guy have broken up too  (I do blame the pill for a big part of this)Glad I found this site have been worried, thanks for making me feel better. Hope all goes well for you guys. Xx
