Hi Been off for nearly 5 months now. Skin is ok apart from occasional spots. The acupuncture is very relaxing and I have now switched to capsules as the tea was horrid and made my whole house (and my hair etc) smell (put my husband off, which kind of defeats the object!) Can't really say whether its working, only time will tell. Have appt in a couple of weeks with gyno though so i think she may put me on provera (progesterone challenge). Take care x

I'm 30 and have been on various pills since the age of 15. I can remember my periods beforehand as they just didnlt stop.

I have endometriosos and PCOS and now take the pill continuously for 3 months at a time (gynaecologist instruction). I've recently been put back on Microgynon after being on Yasmin for a few years due to complete lack of libido. After reading these posts I'm now really worried. My fiance is fantastic but it frustrates me so I can't imagine what he goes through.

I'm getting married in October and want to start trying for a baby soon after. Doing the 'deed' is difficult enough for me and I hoped that changing the pill would help this.

I am 31 years old and came off Marvelon 4 weeks ago after taking it for 15 years. My period came at the normal time (3 weeks later) but it is very light and has lasted longer than usual so I'm not sure what's happening. I don't seem to have had any other withdrawal symptoms so far. I'm pretty discouraged to hear that it can take so long to get pregnant. I've never heard anything about withdrawing from the pill before - it seems the doctor (and everyone else) is so focused on getting people on the pill rather than off it!

Hi, this is very similar to my experience, but i only came off Marvelon 2 months ago, wanted to know how things went for you after this. Any advie would be great. Thanks

Coming off Dianette

Postby cl25 on Tue Jan 22, 2008 10:28 pm

Hi I came off Dianette October 2007 had my first period on the pill free days - had my period for 5 days after being on the pill continuously for 10 years, but then the last 2 months I have only had my period for 3 days. The pain when my period is due to come on is very sore - have to take a few pain killers on the first day of my period.

I am very concerned about my weight since coming off the pill I have put on 6 kgs I feel very unhappy with my body now. I feel emotional and little things make me cry ? Is this normal?

I also have acne on my chest and around my chin and mouth area - how long does it take for the hormones to return back to normal and will my weight go back to normal or will I keep putting on weight :-( ?

While being on the pill I used to have headaches every day but now the headaches seem to have dissappeared.

I would be interested to hear if people who have used Dianette feel or felt the same as im feeling?

Coming off Femodene

Postby Em123 on Wed Jan 23, 2008 4:26 pm

Hi Everyone. I am new to this site and was relieved to know that people are going through the same thing as me. I have been on Femodene for 14 years and came off it 2 weeks ago. A few days ago my lower abdomen got really painful and feels like it's all swollen. I went to the doctors who told me I probably had a urine infection and was given antibiotics. It just got worse so I went back to see another doctor who said it was probably ovulation pain, and explained that when you've been on the pill for a long time, the first month can be really painful. I have had pain on the left hand side mostly, and then in the centre - it's like really bad period pain plus sharp pains as well - difficult to explain really.

Any advice would be appreciated!

You are not alone, i too am going through exactly the same as you. I came off in November, i have had one 3-4 day long (very heavy and painful) period, and my next one is due next week. My skin has become greasier and i am very emotional. I haven't put on any weight as of yet.

I think you'll find the forum named 'Dianette feels like a total horror story for me' interesting and reassuring to read, i have been writing my experiences on that one as have other women coming off this dreaded pill.

Keep in touch. x

Coming off Femodene

Thanks Hannah - is Femodene similar to Dianette do you know? I suppose most pills are similar and will cause similar side effects. I specifically asked the nurse whether I would experience anything like this before coming off it and she said no - very frustrating!! Hav you experienced the bloating as well?

Hi I have stopped taking dianette 29th Nov. My periods have not yet returned. I have period cramps, sore breasts but nothing happens. I also have greasy hair but my skin has been fine. I have 2 children my 1st pregancy took 4 months after stopping dianette. My 2nd took 3 months with me not having a period in between although when I found out I was pregant I was only 5 weeks. The doctor advised it can take 6 months for your periods to return. Hope this helps. I am ttc my 3rd at the moment.

sonicbang wrote:Hello! Am new to this board but I just thought I would share my experience with you.
I have been off the pill for 6 weeks now after 13 long years of taking dianette and then yasmin.
After my final withdrawal bleed i actually felt high as a kite...which was nice! My libido was similar to an 18 year olds (my poor fella!) and I was so so happy for around 2 weeks. My period came only one week later than usual which was a huge relief as I thought it would take months to get back to normal (I am aware that this is subject to change!)
However, I now feel as though I have had PMT for a month. I cant stop crying, i feel bloated and hugely anxious. I used to have these symptoms prior to coming on (whilst on the pill) but only for 4 or 5 days.
i feel like im going nuts! Does anyone have any similar experiences wirh these emotions? Also did anyone feel really out of sorts when they were waiting for their first proper period after coming off the pill? I felt so confused with what my body was doing! i mean, when you are on the pill you know what to expect of your emotions and when you are due on etc..but being off the pill I just dont know what is happening to me!

Anyway, I am feeling a bit better today so thats a good start! I hope everyone else is feeling better soon too!
Bless!

Hi Sonic
I feel so relieved i am not the only one - Yes i have had similar symptoms. I came off the Pill in October 07 after being on it for 10 years - felt fine for a few months with few minor ups & downs but this month - January i have had the worst period pains of my life and i am feeling really down and anxious and can't stop crying. Usually I am quite steady but my emotions have been topsy turvy. I have been reading other forums and it sounds like these symptoms can last up to a year. My poor partner  ! Makes me feel better thouhg knowing this is fairly normal and i am not going crazy and just had a personality change!
Good luck with everything,
Hopefully time will help us get back to ourselves,
Charley

Hi.. I have been reading your comments and am very pleased to hear that I am not the only one, who has come off the pill and expected to lose weight rather than gain weight! I am 34 and have been on the pill for 17 years - different pills to begin with but then was on Ovrian until is was discontinued and then went on Yasmin. I came off the pill last November and had my periods as normal - every 21 days. I do notice when i am ovulating - it is like a period pain but a lot sharper but only seems to last a day. 10 days later my period will start. Since I have come off the pill, I have noticed 2 months later that I have gained weight, clothes beginning to feel tight, got acne around my nose and chin and have felt emotional. Also get a lot more heartburn than I have ever had before - not sure if this is related but get it quite regularly. Hoping to try for a baby once I get back from skiing!

Hope this helps and good luck.
Maz

Emzy wrote:Hey guys, wow plenty of comments, usefull though. I came of the pill about 5 weeks go and started to get a lil worried. I've experieced dizzyness, sickness, and random stomach pains, quite severe at times. Although this sound like what other people are experiencing...so i guess thats good. Ive got a huge problem though..i was in the middle of a move and didnt realise (until it was too late) that i hadnt got anymore pills left after having my break, ifound 2 pills so took them and assumed i wuld find some..but didnt, so i orderedsome more, but by the time i got my hands on them it had been about 5 days, so i thought the best, mst sensible idea, to make sure i could be 100% sure i was protected, was to wait for a 'real' period and start again on my pill...although now i think maybe i awas a stupid idea, ive no idea what to do as i havent started my period yet...?

hey guys just to let you know i went to the doctors that day because i was so worried. Th edoctor said that i had 'played the situation beautifully' by just coming off the pill and not messing around with it. my period soon came and now i am back on the pill, so im guessing from all the comments on this forum that if you come of the pill it is normal not to have a period when you are due, its just so scary no knowing. x

Hi you dont need to consult the doctor for stopping the pill. After stopping my pill when trying for my 1st baby it took 4 months with 3 periods in between. With my 2nd it took 14 weeks although I never had a period in between however When I found out I was pregnant 2nd time I was only 5 weeks gone. It just shows do not try to wait for a natural period before trying because the midwifes can work out your due dates from your scan anyway. Also it helps to eat healthy when ttc. I think thats how I conceived quicker 2nd time round. In saying that I have friends that have missed 1 pill and fell pregnant by accident. I am ttc my 3rd child at moment after stopping dianette on 29th Nov. Still not had a period although feeling symptoms of them all the time so i think you are better stopping yours as soon as possible in case it takes ages to get out your system too. Hope this helps
