hey!yeh im in montpellier at the moment but shortly returning to the uK before going to spain!!!im at leeds uni so not far away at all!about the pregnancy test, just ask for a test de grosesse and if you dont want to you can even find them in the big supermarkets as ive seen them!

ive been lucky with my periods since coming off in march cos ive had two since exactly 28 days apart, i dont remember them ever being that regular!the bad thing is i have noticiably gained weight and even gone up a cup size so i think this is due to coming off yasmin.im trying to eat very sensibly now to see if thatl help if not i may go back on at some point.it wud b awful to go back to uni after being away for 18 months with eevryone saying god shes stacked the weight on on her time abroad!!

anyway hope this helsp!

Hehe, same as me! In Paris at the moment then going to Germany for a couple of months. What uni are you at? I'm at Manc and am also really looking forward to going back as I miss it, especially the nightlife! Not looking forward to all the essays and exams tho!

Anyway..I just came on here looking for reassurance. I came off the pill a in around January or February, and have had a period since, about 4 or 5 weeks after I'd come off it, but it has now been about 6 months since i had another, so I was getting worried. Have been seeing someone for a few weeks over here, and we've been using protection, but I always get really paranoid that something could have gone wrong without me knowing, and the idea of getting pregnant scares me so much! Have been in a few pharmacies today to look for a test, but can't seem to find one :-/ And I am too embarassed to ask! But anyway, reading about other people's experiences of coming off the pill has made me feel a little better,as it could be that my cycle has just gone strange (it was never regualr before I was on the pill anyway) Might still do a test tho, just to make sure!

I have read on the net that cramping can be an early sign of pregnancy. I am too scared to take a test because I am currently sitting my university finals. Help

Tictoc,
I am in an identical situation to yours. My period is now almost 6 days late, I have bad cramping and stomach aches but no period and took a preg. test and it was negative. Please let me know how you make out or if you get any info on this. Thanks!!

I came off the pill this month after almost 4 years and I was able to tell when I ovulated as had all the signs. My husband had a vasectomy last November and recently had a sperm sample checked and no sperm. We have 2 kids and are happy. :) Well so I expected my period a few days ago and have had a month of headaches, cramps and then leading up to the day when I expected my period the back ache and then no period! I was starting to get really nervous that I could be pregnant although the chances would be soo so so slim! Yesterday I just felt sick and was on the couch most of the afternoon so figured for sure I must be getting my period but nope! I finally took a test last night and it was negative so that gives me a little peace of mind. I just want to get my period and get back to normal. I am a little thrown by the way this month has gone because I was on the pill for 8 years before I had my first child and I went off the pill and got pregnant that first month which we were so happy cause we really wanted a baby but thought it might take awhile. Then I was on the pill again for about 2 years and went off the pill to get pregnant with my 2nd child but waited 3 months before trying and I had no problem getting my period after going off the pill that time. Anyhow just thought I would share some of my experiences. Oh and by the way other than the physical yucky stuff I have experienced this month, I feel sooo much better emotionally after coming off the pill..it is unbelievable! I didn't even know the pill affected me so much and my sex drive was next to nothing on the pill and that is back. :)

Now it is month 2 (since being off the pill) and my period is a week late but I have been having bad cramps all week long with absolutley no sign of period. I took a preg test (when my period was 5 days late and it was negative) What is wrong with me??

Postby guest2005 » Mon May 23, 2005 12:08 pm

hi ladies.. i have been on the pill since i was 16, i am now 21 this year so i came off the pill in feb this year. i have had 2 periods since but ma first period took ages to come so much so that i thought i was preggers, but then they came just at the beginning of april there, but when i was on the pill i never got any period pains but now they are so bad and ma periods are so heavy and messy, theres actually clumps of blood and its the same again with ma second period, one of ma friends says ma first period mite of been a miscarriage but i dunno. i still keep thinking i could be pregnant cuz i have put on weight, when i was on the pill i was just going on 8 stone then nurse says i was underweight for ma height (am 5ft 3ins) but since i have came off the pill i am no about 9 stones. so i dunno wits going on way ma system. i am on ma second period right now but they again were late, and are really heavy. is there a reason to why they are always late and really painful and heavy, cuz even before i started the pill ma periods were never that bad (light & painless) HELP!!

updates from anyone........

Postby rayne » Wed May 25, 2005 4:43 pm

So anyone who has posted recently have an update? This cycle is driving me nuts! I am now about 5 days late and still nothing. I don't really have the cramps anymore so thinking I probably just skipped my period all together from coming off the pill. I do however feel like I am in a constant state of PMS now so just wish I could get my period and get on with it. I took one hpt that was negative and it was a 2 pack so will take the other one probably Saturday. Please update! I have had such a hard time finding alot of info about what women experienced coming off the pill so this board has been really helpful and just wondering how everyone is doing now. :)

Hi..
I am wondering about this coming off the pill stuff too.
I stopped taking the pill last month and then was 5 days late with my peiod..I should've started it a week ago. Anyway, I have had some light bleeding but not like the regular amount of my period. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative but I am worried maybe I did it wrong or something effected it because it got blood on the strip..so I am not sure if that would effect it. I read that early in pregnancy it is quite normal to get light spotting or light periods...do you think I could be pregnant even with the negative test? Should i take it again??

No sign of a period

Postby Dids » Wed May 25, 2005 8:33 pm

Hi i also came off the pill 1 month ago and was expecting my period on Sunday but nothing has happened as yet and it is a bit of a worry. Just goes to show the strength of the stuff we are putting in our bodies. I have been on the pill for 5 years and wanted to give my body a break as it was doing nothing to help my bad periods which are 8 days long! Just wanted to say i am glad i found this site as i was starting to think the worse and was contemplating a visit to the local chemist. I am thinking of going back on the pill but i think i will give my body a break for a while plus i recently read that oestrogen causes major cellulite in woman how much does that suck!!

i was only on the pill for 2 months and decided not to continue after that...but now my period is 2 weeks later, is it normal for periods to be irregualar after only being on the pill for such a short time?

Well, I have taken 2 tests now and both came out negative so I think I am ok. I am not sure if I will go back on the pill..I am thinking I may because I do not want to experience another pregnancy scare like this again!! I just can't afford something like that right now and I nearly gave myself a heart attack worrying. I just feel safer when on the pill.

update

Postby rayne » Fri May 27, 2005 3:44 pm

Hi all, jus wanted to give an update of what is going on with me since posts on this board have been so helpful to me. I came off the pill in April and was expecting my period on April 19th and had all the signs that a period was coming..had cramping on and off most of the month and then right around when I was supposed to get my period, it was JUST like it was coming. It was in the back of my mind that this is what is what like when I was pregnant with each of my kids though...just sure I was going to get a period and wanting to be pregnant and then suprised that I actually was! I took a pregnancy test on May 19th the day my period was due and it was negative. I was relieved but still worried a bit that maybe it was just too early. I got some spotting on May25th and at first I thought it was my period but it went away. I had some pink spotting yesterday but only when going to the bathroom. I took another hpt this morning and I am 8 days late and it was negative. I am not going to worry about being pregnant anymore (my dh did have a vasectomy) and just realize that this is the way my body reacted after coming off the pill this time. It has really thrown me for a loop though cause I came off the pill before and was not late and no problems and I am the type that was so regular. Just wanted to share my experience again so hopefully it will help someone trying to find some answers.

Coming off the pill after 9 years

Postby scubagirl » Sun May 29, 2005 5:15 pm

Hi, girls! I just wanted to respond to some of the questions regarding period pains, bloating, etc. after coming off of the pill. I was on the pill for 9 years straight and experienced more bloating and cramps AFTER stopping the pill than I ever did while on the pill. The doctor told me that while you are taking the pill it does all the work (producing hormones, etc.). After stopping the pill, your body has to start doing it on its own. It takes a little while for that to happen. I stopped taking the pill in March 2005 and missed my period for 3 months (I always had a period every month-even before I started taking the pill). My doctor put me on Provera for 10 days to force a period and to give my body a "reboot" so it would start producing the hormones on its own. I feel a lot better now and I hope the next period will happen on its own because the side effects of Provera are not so hot (severe bloating, depression, fatigue, etc.). I have gained about 5 lbs. and am working towards getting that off-plus some. I think my hormones are a little out of whack right now because I eat pretty healthy and I don't eat a lot. I have started exercising more so I hope that will help. Being that I was on the pill for so long (without lapse) I think it is just going to take a little time for my body to get back to normal.

Hang in there, ladies! I know it's rough.

I came off trinordial in Feb, had a normal period a month later and not seen anything since - I'm now heading to the 3 month mark. I've tested and they have all come back negative so know i'm not pg - just the pill screwing up my system again. Evenso, I have been taking Agnus Castus (an herbal remedy)which is suppose to regulate your periods but it doesn't seem to be doing anything yet. Do we know if we still ovulate even if you don't have a period and how long is it before they should regulate/or have to go to gp??

finally!

Postby rayne » Tue May 31, 2005 4:39 pm

Well ladies, finally got my period last night 2 weeks late. I spotted for about 5 days prior to getting it. I have posted a few times before up above about how things have gone for me coming off the pill if you want to read. I have NO cramps yet so far so hopefully it will stay that way. We shall see what happens next month as have read alot get it the first month coming off the pill and then don't get it for a few more months. I am hoping I will be one of the lucky ones and things will just get back to normal whatever that is. :)
