I am so glad I found this site!!
I have been on the pill for 6 years and I"m 22. I was initially on Diane/Brenda and was recently on Marvelon (Great name).

I stopped after my last 'period' two weeks ago for a number of reasons. Firstly, I feel like it was that long ago I don't even remeber what my body natually did anymore. I'm excited about getting back to my natural rhythm - one that's mine. That's such a hippy thing to say, but did anyone else feel like this?

I had no idea that you may not get a period for a couple of months!! I thought your body would just be on auto pilot, like when you're on the pill, but that you just wouldn't ovulate.

Anyway, I wanted to know how people have found their libido after coming off the pill after a couple of months. That's one of the main reasons I'm going off it, there's no point using the pill as a contraceptive if you never feel like sex. I have worried about this for yonks, because I feel like a had a great sex drive before I was on the pill. When I went to my doctor she said its probably got more to do with my relationship than the pill, and that I should look at that. Thanks!

So any experiences that support my theory would be much appreciated. I think that documents about the pill really dumb down how much it affects you sex drive. A cling on from the days when we had all male Drs and no interest in female sexual health.

Coming Off Pill

Postby seroberts9 on Wed Jun 15, 2005 11:38 am

I finished my last packet of Yasmin Pill on the 20th May and my period came on the 23rd May. (Normal as Ever). Then I had another light bleed on the 2nd - 3rd of june. And once again I started another period yesterday. I am so confused. I don't want one at all. I was wondering if anyone new how long it would take for me to conceive once coming of the pill?

People say that as soon as you get your period, then your normal hormones have kicked in and you're ovulating so could get pregnant anytime. Statictics say around 4- 6 months after coming off the pill. But my sister-in-law got pregnant straight away. So its individual.

Hey everyone. I have been reading through ya'lls posts and it makes me feel a lot better but I do have on question...

I just got off the pill ((didn't start a new pack after last month's pack ended)). My "forced" period was around May 22nd. This month my boyfriend and I had protected sex. This past Friday night ((June 17th)) the condom broke. I have all the symptoms of my period, yet no period. I keep hoping that BC is still not completely out and that is why I don't have a period yet. What are your thoughts on it?? What are the chances I could be pregnant?

My period before BC was pretty hurtful, yet regular. Normally came around the 26th of each month. How worried should I be?

Coming off the pill

I am so pleased I went on this site.
 My boyfriend went away to Iraq on the 12th May for 6months so thought "what a great opportunity to come off the pill and give my body a break".
I am 30 next year and this year I have had 2 abnormal smear tests, so that made me think even more about it.

I have had all the period symptoms i.e little pains but no period it is now the 29th June and I have done 2 preg tests which are negative so that's cool or my man would not be pleased.

But I have been sooooooo worried coz of the abnormal tests, that there might be something wrong with me. Now I feel so much more reassured.
There really should be more information available on this and maybe we should have gone to our nurses and told them what we were doing then maybe they could have warned us! :?:

Wow! this thread is amazing!
i came off microgynon 30 about 3 months ago after being on it for 5 years straight. i had two perfectly normal periods 28 days apart, and i am now 5 day late for my next one. i was beggining to have a bit of a heart attack about it, i'm one of those extreme worriers when it comes to getting pregnant!!! i have had sex in the past month but i always use protection, so hopefully nothing happenend that i was unaware off. its good to see that its not just me, and hopefully my body will sort itself out. i'm thinking that i may go back on the pill just because it gives me that extra piece of mind, even though i am feeling better for being off it and i don't really like putting hormones in my body!

it's so good to know that i am not alone!!!!!

Hi ladies, I've been off and on the pill (various types) for 20 years. I would go off when I wanted to get pregnant and then back on after I had finished breastfeeding my kids. Generally, my periods would be back to regular within one cycle after quitting the pill. I went off permanently in December 04, and have been extremely irregular, but I do think that is because I am 47 and close to menopause.

Anyway, the increase in sex drive was pretty dramatic. I have to say that if I had realized how much the pill was reducing my sex drive (to barely existent) I would have gone off a long time ago.

I have now been off the pill for 6 weeks. I had my period as normal nearlly five weeks ago and have not started another since. I am trying hard not to worry but u still think about it. This forum has helped me to forget about the period, its just one of those things, my body like everyones has to get rid of the synthetic hormones and return to normal. Reading everyones posts has helped me a great deal.

I do feel much better and have lost my appetite so hopefully my weight will go back to what it was before I started. I just want to have a period then I can sort out my cycle!! it is driving me crackers but I am glad i'm not the only one!!!!

Thanx laydees!!!!

Coming off the pill

Postby ChristineNZ on Tue Jul 19, 2005 3:26 am

I have been on the pill for 16 years with only a very short 3 month break about 10years ago now. I was taking mycrogynen uptill recently when i've made the decision to come off the pill and give my body a break from it. I was hoping that there wouldn't be many upsets in my hormones but i think from reading everyone elses messages i was being a bit ambitious. I am particularly worried about the weight gain as i'm currently in new zealand on a working holiday and have put on a bit of weight since i came here, although i've been exercising most days still like at home. My sex drive has been quite low in recent years too, so hoping that that will come back once everything has calmed down with the hormonal changes. My doctors advised that being on the pill long-term was safe, but 16 years can't be right surely. I have only not been taking the pill for 2 weeks now so I guess it's too early to notice any major changes. If other people who have only been on it for 2-3 years have had problems coming off it, it is worrying for me, but will have to just wait & see. Also, did anyone else suffer with skin problems after coming off the pill at all? The time when i came off 10 years ago for 3 mnths I got huge lumps on my face near the time my period was due which left big red-purplish marks (which have gone now).

What a wonderful site this is!

I have been off the Pill for a month after being on Femodene for 20ish years. Before going on the Pill I used to pass out with the pain.

I am sitting here with terrible period cramps but nothing has happened, I am a week late now. Is this normal. The doctor tells me it could take 2-3 months before my body gets back to normal.

I am actually having an MEA in September so hopefully no more periods for me. Oh to be a women eh?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Diane,

When I went off the pill (after being on for 20 years like you), my first period came right on schedule - 28 days. Since then, I have had everything from a 70 day cycle to a 15 day cycle. Sometimes I have terrible cramps and acne like a teenager. Other times, it's a non event.

I just don't think there is any real "normal" to this.

Sorry!

hi,

I decided to come off the pill over 5 weeks ago as my boyfriend and decided we wanted a baby. I had a period about 3 days later which was a week earlier than what it should have been, now 5 1/2 weeks later i still haven't had another, done 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative. Don't know what's going on!
