worried

Hi Girls!

I'd been on the pill (yasmin) for 4 yrs, until I came off it 10weeks ago. I've haven't had a period yet and am worried.. The first mth I was due I got bad period pain but that that was it.. I've done two home pregnancy tests -both negative. However I'm still frightened the test results may not be accurate due to all the extra hormones that were in my body.

Do you think I've anything to worry about???? :?

I'm away travelling for a year & don't want to go to the doctors abroad without need.

Cheers

hi everyone

Really glad I found this forum as it is a relief to know I am not the only person who worries!! I have just come off Yasmin after taking it for 5 years. I took my last pill on 4th August then had a period 2 days later that lasted 5 days, now I am a bit lost as I am wondering when I would be due on?? Its all so confusing, my husband and I are ready to try for a baby so I really want to have a normal period so we can get started properly. I wasn't sure if the period I had after coming off the pill was a "normal" period or just the effect of stopping the pill?? After reading all your entries I know I should stop worrying as it will all happen when it wants to and the stress you make by worrying about it won't help as it will only delay it if anything!!

Take care xxx

Hi, this is my first message in this forum.
I've been taking pills for over six months now. I'm not sexually active and only took pills as means to avoid the cramps and all. Besides the fact that since forver my period has always been irregular I never had any discomfort during my period days at all. Then a few monthes after I graduated from high school, the first two days into my period has become hell. But I could suffer it through.
Then this January I started taking a preparation course before my first semester at uni was about to start. I had no idea when my period was going to start but I prayed to God that it won't happen during one of my lessons. And of course it did. I'll never forget that day. To make a long story short that very day I've made my first gynecologist appointment. She asked me to do an ultrasound test and to take a blood test. The tests showed that I have some sort of harmonal disbalance. I was prescribed Estelle pills.
Right before i started taking those pills I had a dark period in my life. I've been depressed quite frequently back then. After getting on these pills I've always been depressed. I would cry all the time, sometimes for no reson at all. I had alot of anxiety/panick attacks and thought about suicide every other day. I didn't feel like myself anymore. I was told that this was a temporary reaction to the pills but it never stopped.
A week ago I stopped taking pills, I couldn't take it anymore. And now i feel like I'm being myself again. I don't want to be this person whom I was when I was taking these pills. But my winter semester starts soon and I'll probably have to start taking these pills again. Does anybody know of another alternative?

Hi everyone. I am also one of the female of the species who has had a weight lifted from her shoulders after stumbling across this page! It seems that evey minute is taken up with willing my period to start even though I hate them when they're here! I recently got married and feel financially and emotionally secure enough to start planning for a baby. My husband is desperate to become a dad and I feel the same about becoming a mum. I took my last pill on 15th November 2005. I started my period as normal on the Saturday 19th November. After a pill-free month, I hoped I would get my period as usual on Saturday 17th December. Nothing! I didn't worry too much as I thought I might be a week or so late with just coming off the pill. Wrong! It is now 5 and a half weeks and no sign yet.
I know from reading the posts before mine that I still may have a long way to go before 'coming on' but I am praying it happens soon. I so desperately want to be pregnant and I was also told by my doctor to have protected intercourse until I had my first period after stopping the pill. I know I should take this advice to help with my dates but I'm too impatient. I want to be pregnant as soon as possible. A few people have said that it could happen without getting your first proper period again and I hope they're right. The only thing that I don't like about it all is the cost of doing a test each month to let me know the good news (pregnant) or bad news (not pregnant).
I was on Cilest for 11 years before stopping nearly 6 weeks ago. Has anyone else been on Cilest for that long? What was their experience when they came off it? How long did they have to wait?

I have just started on Microgynon 30 and my period cramps have been really bad, despite being on day 5 of my period. Does anyone know if this is normal? It is a lsightly different pain to usual also, sharper.

This is a great site by the way

Hi.. I heard that the reason that you don't have a period after you come off the pill for a while is because the hormone levels in it are so high in comparison to you own natural levels that it takes your body a while to adjust.. My friend didn't have a period for 7 months after coming off Dianette..

coming off the pill

Well, having read all the previous posts, I've gone from being a little ball of stress to relieved that I'm completely normal! I think I've been a bit naive - I came off Microgynon six weeks ago and expected my body to go back to normal straight away, so when my period was five days late I started to get all happy and did a pregnancy test - when it was negative, I couldn't figure out what was going on so I did a search on the internet and came up with this site - which is great, by the way! Having heard all your stories, it's fairly obvious that everyone is different and it can take months for your body to get back to normal.

I have a little complication though - my husband and I are trying to get pregnant but I was diagnosed with chlamydia two years ago and I must have had it for ages 'cos I didn't have any symptoms. I'm scared that I'm infertile - does anyone have any similar stories or experience of trying to get pregnant having had an STI?

coming off the pill

Postby Chirpy » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:58 pm

:P Hi, came off the pill (ovranette) 8 weeks ago had a regular period immeadatley coming off the pill but still waiting for the next one. I have had all the symptons of a period for example, spots, bloated stomach and mood swings but no actual period.
This site has been a great help after reading some of the stories and
sharing some of the experiences, I now am fully aware that my period can come whenever my body has settled down and hormones are back to
normal. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Dianette

Postby Guest » Tue May 09, 2006 8:51 pm

Hi, new to this forum stuff but saw your question when looking to see if anyone else had had the same experience as me. I came off Dianette after 8 years as my husband and I are ready to start a family. I came off it 18 months ago. Within 3 months I had lost a stone in weight. I used to weigh 8.5 stone, now just 7.5 (underweight for my age and height) and struggling not to lose more. My breasts were only an A cup when I was on the pill, but they have shrunk and I don't even fill my A cup bras any more. It has left me so depressed as there is nothing I can do.

People think losing weight is a good thing - not when you lose what little chest you had in the first place it isn't!

The good news, however, is that I figured out the cause of my acne - wax based hair and skin products, especially my hair conditioner, which was of course getting onto my neck and back in the shower. My skin isn't perfect, but it's better than I thought it would be.

Oh, and still no baby.
