Dying dark brown hair to blonde

Hi, I have a semi light brown hair and I want to go to a bright, light blonde, kind of like Jessica Simpson has. I dyed my hair a few years ago with a blonde colouring and it turned orangey-red. (YIKES ) so I want to know how to make it the blonde like I want it without getting that orangey color!!!! Also will doing this drastic of a color change really make my hair brittle and cause a lot of breakage? Thanks.

Hi, again I just read where someone said if you're going from dark brown to blonde then to do it in stages like, dark brown to light brown, then light brown to dark blonde, then to blonde. But will dying your hair this many times really make it dry and in bad condition? And how lond do you have to wait until you dye your hair again? a week after, right after, or a few weeks after?????

ok well i have a similar problem. i have naturally dark blonde hair but it is now black. i want to dye it bright pink! obviously i will have to pre-lighten. ive got a suspician it wil turn a ginger-ish colour but will this be ok for putting pink over it? also, im considering dye stripping but i have no idea what it is? can anyone tell me? thanks

dont strip your hair!! thats the worst thign u could do!! bleach the parts or all of ur hair where u want it to be pink....it will turn out orange! BUT...then use manic panic (hot hot pink....it looks red in the container) and put it on ur hair. its all natural and it lasts a long time!! good luck...pink hair = rad <33 emz

my natural hair colour is a mid colour blonde. i dyed with a semi-permanent medium brown. however, that stayed in for quite a while. so i decided i wanted blonde hair! i went into boots brought a home stripping kit! which made my hair WHITE/yellow!!! so then i put a permanent brown on top of this!!!

that was slightly more than a month ago but the colour has faded dramatically! so now i really want to go blonde!

how could i do this? would my hair go ginger/brown of i done this? or achieve the colour i desire? and how could i make it the colour i want? is there anything i can buy to take the colour out?

Ok so dye your hair in stages, but how soon until you can dye your hair again???? And what if your eyebrows are really dark, can you lighten them too????

You need to use a blonde color that has a natural base color. If you use something else you will most likely end up with an un-natural color. There is also something you can you which takes out the red tones which you put in with your hair color. Coloring your hair so much to go in stages will damange and cause your hair to break. Don't do that. I colored my hair a week ago from and to tone down the brassiness, I just purchased a toner (all of these need to be purchased from like sally's) and I put that in for 15 mins and it took the brassiness out.

ok so WHAT ABOUT EYEBROWS?????? If you have really dark eyebrows then what?? Can you lighten them too, or will it burn them off?

does any one know of a certain kind of hair dye that will actually turn your hair blonde from dark brown instead of orange?if so please let me know! thanks!

Mix in a little bit of clairol light drabber into your haircolor. And don,t use a haircolor that says golden anywhere on the box. Use more natural or ash blonde. Learned by many times of bad color

When hair is colored it only deposits. Your hair color is to dark for the deposited color to show up. If you want your hair lighter you might try a tint with a higher volume developer to lift some of the color. Otherwise you will have to go with a two step bleach then color/tone.
Always remember color deposits and highlighting or bleaching lightens.

i went to the salon and dyed my hair darker, the first day it was black but then in the past 2 months it has really lightened up. how long should i wait until i can bleach it into a blonde color without a lot of orange?

I KNOW it's possible to dye dark hair to blonde. My hair is naturally dark brown. Last time I bleached it and it was dry and scratchy, but only for a couple of days. Now my hair is dark brown again (I dyed it back) and I want to dye it blonde again, but I think I'll wait a couple of months, just to be safe. Anyway, this time should I dye it to red first, then wait a couple of weeks and lighten the red?

dont dye ur hair red!!!!~i did and they told me ill never get my hair back to normal my natural hair color is blonde and now its red NEVER DYE IT RED UNLESS YOU WANNA LIVE WITH IT!!!!!!

yeah, what about eyebrows? I want to dye my hair, which is naturally a dark brown right now, but I want to put blonde streaks in it throughout my whole head so it apears brown and blonde, but then my eyeborws are left dark brown, what should I do about those?
