the best stuff to highlight or anything on darker hair is by smart beauty , they do a 'cool blonde' highlihgting kit, its amazing , it goes blonde and not orange !!! you can google the, for the website which sells it _.

Okay SERIOUSLY!
If you want to dye you hair from dark to light, go to a professional hairdresser. DO NOT use the do it yourself stuff! It's a complete nightmare if it goes wrong and cost a LOT of money to fix!
Also, if you're worried about going ginger, your hair goes ginger if you haircolour has red in it. I don't mean red dye either. If your hair has natural red in it (Which can actually be hard to tell if it has) your hair will go a gingery colour.
Also, you can get eyebrow tint, but get that done professionally, it can go very badly (my friends eyebrow hair fell out).
Best thing to do is get blonde put in gradually. My friend had blonde highlights put in, then had them done every month or so. You can do it more often but you have to look after your hair. Her hair gradually turned blonde. You have to be careful if doesn't go a bananary colour either.
Stripping your haircolour is really bad for your hair, and most hairdresser suppliers have STOPPED supplying it because of what of what it can do. You can get light haircolour stripper, but they can have next to no effect. Best thing is to bleach it professionally. They know what they're doing, so save up rather than ruin your hair! :]

i had really black hair and i wanted to have a change, so i had highlights put in every month then i put a bleach on, which made it go a gingery-blonde, then a month later i done it again and it came out very blonde but very dry, but that goes away after a few washes with loads of conditioner. then i put a blonde colour on it, and now its a white blonde and i love it :D

Hi evry1

I've just read that in order to go back to blonde you are bet to pre-lighten your hair before bleaching?? I am reading this right?? I pre-lightened my red/brown dyed hair 2 wks ago and it did go to the bright orange stage. Should I have then bleached it aswell before putting on my dye??? If so can you recommend any brand of Pre-lightener or bleach?? (I'm in the UK) Sorry to sound so dumb but I'm stuck at this dark brown shade now and am desperate to get back to my old self with ash blonde hair

Thanks

Well I've just had the biggest hair dilemma ever.
I'll start from the beginning

im 16 and have been dying my hair for urmm 4/5 years now. I started just with blonde highlights in my mid brown natural hair. i built the highlights up until i had basically blonde hair, then i dyed it dark brown myself, and then carried on doing that for half a year.
then I went back to the hairdressers last year and started having highlights again, which again built up and up, this is when I dyed my hair white blonde myself using Scwartkopt platinum white. which worked really well! I did that myself for another 5/6 months, and then last october, I dyed it dark brown, which went black and patchy. I've let that grow out for a couple of months now, but just yesterday I really had the urge to be blonde, so stupidly I brought 3 boxes of the plat white, and okay, my lighter roots from the back went white, the rest of my hair went a reddy/orange.
Again horrified, my boyfriends friend whos a hairdresser gave me some peroxide, and I put that on straight afterwards. It did turn it a more orangey colour, but now my mums flipped, and no hairdresser will touch my hair.
It did start to fall out a bit, but I really cant go on with this orange in my hair for much longer. I do think if i do it once more it would lift, but will it really damage all my hair???

x

Now my hair is dark brown again (I dyed it back) and I want to dye it blonde again, but I think I'll wait a couple of months, just to be safe. Anyway, this time should I dye it to red first, then wait a couple of weeks and lighten the red?

Dude do not dye it red first, thats the worst thing to do, (as im sat here with pink hair) haha, ive dyed my hair to blonde lots of time from brown, its easy enough, you just have to realise its not going to be perfect straight away, try using a pre lightner first as it can lighten your hair up to 6 shades. then buy a dye. getting it from red to blonde is my toughest battle so far lol.

soooo I tried dying my hair blonde from dark brown and i took it out now it's an orangish color. The thing is--- the place where my hair goes into my scalp is dark brown!! So it looks like I have a bunch of black dots on my head. What should I do?

dont strip your hair!! thats the worst thign u could do!! bleach the parts or all of ur hair where u want it to be pink....it will turn out orange! BUT...then use manic panic (hot hot pink....it looks red in the container) and put it on ur hair. its all natural and it lasts a long time!! good luck...pink hair = rad :) <33 emz

okay so i have naturally dark blond hair and i dyed my hair black and than bleached the S*** out of it and it was like orangey blondish and i dyed pink all over it and it wasnt an even colouring of pink it was blotchy all over so i said screw that and just dyed it back brown but i want to dye my hair to my natural colour , its tough.

i had lovely long locks but decided last summer to go brown then when i got fed up i dyed it a reddish brown a few times and now i decided that i want to go back to blonde. i got a half head of bleach foils in the hairdressers and then went back a month later to get a full head of foils. now my hair is much blonder at the roots and its a copper blonde at the ends! plus its only half as thick as it use to be and in very bad condition so im going to have it cut to my sholders and let it grow and hopefully eventually, probably in about a years time get my old hair colour back!

My hair color is naturally a medium brown. Last summer I had used a product called Sun-In, which turned my head a strawberry blonde color. It was then easy to die over the strawberry blonde color to a more natural looking blonde. Because of the fact that Sun-In is NOT a die, and instead is a simple conditioning system that brings out the natural highlights in your hair, it will not ruin your hair. Using Sun-In rather than experimenting with multiple hair colors probably leaves me with healthier, shinier, thicker, and natural looking hair
