black dye

Postby aushland on Fri May 26, 2006 7:38 pm

i just recently tried dying my hair brown but for some reason it came out an unnatural shade of DARK black. shampooing my hair with dish detergent seemed to help alot! right away the black dye started to fade only once a week though cause it really dries out your hair but i'm also going to a salon soon to get it stripped cuz i really cant stand it this dark. my roots came out this reddish brown though do you think that if i get it stripped and then dyed a medium brown it will come out evenly?

I dyed my hair yesterday from a light reddish brown to what was supposed to be a very dark brown, but it came out *black*... it was jet black. I was all set to go buy a color stripper and put my hair through that horrible trauma, when I read on this forum about using baking soda and Head & Shoulders. I mixed a whole bottle of Head & Shoulders with, oh, 2/3 of a box of baking soda, and slathered it onto my head and waited an hour or so and then rinsed it out. It is still *very* dark, but it's more of a very-very-dark-brown, which looks much more natural and less queen-of-the-night. :D

don't do it

Listen...do not dye your hair over black....you will over process and ruin it. Just let it grow out...Also, give it a couple of days. Sometimes it takes a while to realize that a color looks good on you.

Good Luck.

Azz wrote:I'm in the same boat as many people on this forum. I dyed my hair semi permanently black and it turned out splotchy and brown and looked awful. In a moment of madness I decided it would be a good idea to dye it permanetly and then hated it. I've used one n' only ColorFix which has faded it to a reddish brown colour and washed it with Fairy Liquid and used a hot oil treatment which has helped to fade the colour a bit.

I want to fade it more though. Can I bleach it to a dark blonde or lighter brown or would it got white blonde? I'm also worried of the damage it will do to my hair as it seems to have thinned. On most of my hair this isn't a problem as I have thick hair but in my fringe it seems noticeably thinner. Can anyone give me any advice on this and the state it will leave my hair in.

I usally blow dry and flat iron my hair but since dying it i've stopped this and have been using intensive oil treatments for coloured hair and Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner. My hair seems otherwise in good condition other than a lot of split ends which are just because I need a trim.

hiya my natural hair colour is a light mousy brown and i have been dying it blonde for past 5 years, recently i wanted to go back to brown so i died it a very dark brown as i was told my hair does not hold colour and it would fade back to my natural colour. HOWEVER it went jet black it has been a month now i have laid out in the sun in my weeks holiday to spain, used medicated shampoos and fairy washing up liquid, and its still black apart from the ends which are a light ginger. I would suggest to anyone who has this problem to go to the hairdressers, it might be expensive but its worth it. I am going to the hairfressers next week to see what they can do... i will let you know what happens...

i have black hair and i love it but what is good is that you dont need to sweat it coz black never stays black its fads after a weeks worth of washes or so to a darkish brown so just keep washing and it fades even permenant. trust me ive had black hair for a year now and i dye different colours into it all the time so dont worry... plus you are all forgetting hair grows and hats exists....

i bought garnier 100% color, the number 533 medium golden brown. it dyed right over my black, and it came out the correct color, i wouldnt bleach it cause thats rough on the hair, trust me i have done it and my hair looked like crap afterwards. take my advice i have been dying my hair for a very long time, it has been every color imagineable, but the bleach is the only one that messed my hair up!!! hope this helps......oh i forgot to mention, you dont have to keep it medium brown unless you want, once the color is neutral like that it is way easier to dye all other colors!

what can I doooooo?

Postby Fallenlover on Wed Jun 14, 2006 2:14 am

Hi everyone. well to sum it up real quick, I have dyed my hair black. I was tired of how quickly when I did dye my hair permantly a color. I would get my natural blonde highlights in a matter or 1 1/2 wks already showing. So ive repeatedly dyed it over and over, going darker and darker. all permant. But the blonde keeps coming back. So about 2-3 wks ago I dyed it jet black. It looked great on me... that is until like always my blond came back. so now I have like... maybe a 1/4 or less of an inch on the roots. and I have blonde hairs already back in the front... anyone know what I can do? I want my hair to be back to its orginal color. but seeing thats dark sandy blonde. I dont want to wait til the black grows out. and I know back hair is very hard to get rid of... any way I can just get rid of all the hair dye in my hair, and be back to my original hair color????? what if I just use a form of color remover to wash it out? would it be back to its normal color. thanks anyone who can help.(could u email me at elainacerabone@yahoo.com ) with wat u said?

Hair disaster

Hi, i have been colouring my hair since i was 15, i had it coloured bright red from medium brown and cut short, i have since grown it back but had a few disaters on the way. i dyed it at home a colour called coco, it was nearly black i then when to get it lightened and had half a head of highlights put it, i told them i wanted it lighter so them assumed i wanted blond, my hair went grey, i have spent the last year and a half getting it back to a decent colour but i had to stop going to the hairdresser as i couldnt afford £120 every 6 weeks, i decided to home dye it again now its reddish brown on top and half way down dark brown. I am thinking about getting it stripped, any suggestions?

HOW TO REMOVE BLACK HAIR

HOW TO REMOVE PERMANENT BLACK HAIR DYE

Postby HOW TO REMOVE BLACK HAIR on Sun Jun 25, 2006 4:02 am

THERE IS NO "CHEAP" METHOD--YOU MUST GO TO A PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY SALON AND HAVE THEM DO COLOR CORRECTION! SO EITHER START SAVING OR BORROW MONEY FROM YOUR FRIEND--BUT DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF!

I HAVE READ "USE DISH DETERGENTS" OR EVEN CHEAP STORE BRAND HAIR DYE REMOVERS/STRIPPERS---- MY TWO CENTS IS THIS: DO NOT BE STUPID IN YOUR DESPARATION TO REMOVE AN UNWANTED COLOR & RESORT TO SUCH NONSENSE!!!!

DO WHAT I DID: I SAVED UP $200 AND WENT TO A PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY SALON AND THEY REMOVED ALL THE BLACK HAIR DYE AND NOW IT LOOKS GREAT AND BACK TO MY NATURAL COLOR (YOU CANNOT DYE OVER BLACK HAIR-- YOU MUST FIRST LET THE PROFESSIONALS REMOVE THE BLACK & THEN RE-DYE.

I REPEAT--- DO NOT BE STUPID AND LISTEN TO THESE FOOLS WHO SUGGEST "DISHWASHING DETERGENT" OR SOME OTHER OVER THE COUNTER CHEAP GARBAGE--YOU MADE THE MISTAKE ONCE OF DYING IT YOURSELF---DON'T BE STUPID AND MAKE ANOTHER MISTAKE DOING IT YOURSELF!!! GO TO A PROFESSIONAL, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT AND END UP CUTTING ALL YOUR HAIR OFF, OR EVEN WORSE, IT WILL JUST START FALLING OUT!

I REPEAT-- YOU MUST GO TO A PROFESSIONAL--DO YOUR HOMEWORK & LOOK UP COLOR EXPERT SALONS IN YOUR AREA AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, AT LEAST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A CONSULTATION--
UNLESS YOU WENT TO BEAUTY SCHOOL AND HAVE 20+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PROFESSIONAL HAIR CARE/BEAUTY--LEAVE IT TO THE PRO'S!

Hiya

I really need help !! I have died my hair black but I hate it and want it back to my normal colour. I don't have the money to go to a salon and also think that would be really embarassingas i think it looks terrible and don't even want to go out in public like this. Everyone else really likes it and thinks that I should keep it :(

Is there any way that I can get rid of the colour without it goin orange/green/yellow?

I want my old hair back :(
