i suggest going to Sally's and getting a 40 developer and a light brown color, mixing equal amounts of each and putting it in your hair, 30-40 minutes... it will make your hair about 2-3 shades lighter

well, the safest and slowest way to do it is just to let your natural hair grow out... messing with your hair too much can do damage for old AND new hair.
you can also go to a hair specialist, and he/she will have really good ways.
and just a heads up: if you're not asian or have light hair color (natural), think twice before dying it black!!
if you have pale skin, don't go black unless you wanna look emo. you might look like m. jackson... which is not good.
and if you did get it done black, try a "well groomed" hairstyle, so it actually looks like a "style" and not just a mess of hair.

Postby guest liz » Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:00 pm

naturally my hair is dark blonde, but i have been dying the underneath light brown and rest light blonde for a few years now. i want the brown to be a medium blonde colour... can i do this with a colour instead of bleach? i dont have the money to go to a hair dressers and dont fancy using bleach myself as it would probably go wrong! i really want to avoid having orange hair! please help :)

black hair

I've had black hair for 5 years now...recently I wanted to put a blonde panel in it. To do this the hairdresser gradual bleached out the black over two visits (first to dark brown, then to blonde) It's now white blonde - and my hair is still in perfect condition.

The trick is to see a professional - I once tried to bleach it out myself - my hair turned a feral orange but still had a lot of the black still in it.

They were trained for a reason - use their expertise.

i have naturally blond hair and dye it black every 3 weeks.i have had every color hair out there and black is by far my favorite.however,it takes 4-5 45 minute long bleaching sessions to get my hair "bleach blond" (i do the underside).it does damage your hair a lot,but you can buy hot oil treatments at a beauty supply store.if you want to lighten it with less damage use 20-30 volume developer, but it will take more sessions.40 volume was created for black hair.also, dont style your hair with heat for about a week after bleaching, that helps with the damage.every 2 times you bleach, put blonde hair dye in 3 days later (since it comes with special conditioner) not only does it make it shades lighter, but will help your hair.good luck.

black hair

I have black hair and i'm trying to get rid of it. One way... I bought high-figh brown color... to lightened dark hair, and it works gradually. Also. For those of you that are afriad to bleach your hair. I bleached my hair for over 4 years, i had to too becuz i always colored my dark hair blonde and I never had any trouble with it falling out. Keep the bleach in long enuff so that the color drops shades and get it out of your hair. Put a conditioning infusing haircolor in as a toner and your hair should be fine.

i wouldn't recommend it cause you've dye over your bleached blond already. you should of just touch up the new hair growth in the first place. if you do try to bleach your highlights again it could fry or even melt your hair off of your scalp. what i would do is deep condition it and wait for a long while and then try to high light it again cause as of right now it sounds like your hair it expose to a lot of chemicals already. :?

is your hair naturally dark. if it is then that's probably why it went to black. if you want the dark brown color then go the the store and buy the color you wanted and then go to the beauty store and buy a 30 volume developer. when you get home, mix the 30 vol. dev. with only the color dye. what the 30 vo. dev. will do is lift the dark color off of your hair and it will turn your hair lighter, but make sure you babysit your hair cause if you leave it in there too long it could go even lighter. when the color you want start developing then go ahead and wash out the dye in your hair.
