I had black hair for about a month and I really hated it, two days ago i went to a salon to get a colour correction. It turned out it took 4 hours just to do the colour correction and dye my hair a light brown. Also my scalp was sore afterwards because of the process.Although i had to pay $250 (plus tips!!!) I was really happy with the result. HOWEVER, BEFORE GOING TO THE SALON, MAKE SURE YOU MAKE ENOUGH TIME TO HAVE YOUR HAIR DONE AND MAKE SURE YOU GOT MONEY!! IT COULD RANGE FROM $100-200!!

sorry don't agree went to the hairdressers ans asked for a head of bright red hair and was quoted 45 quid (I have have dyed black hair) I came away with a streak of the most pitiful shade of orange you have ever seen (after listening to her harping on about this magnifiscent magma S*** which didn't work) and was charged 60...ok she agreed to do it again but it would not have been 60 if it had worked the first time. I dyed my hair black a couple months ago, and now well, i'm sick of it! I went to a salon and the hair dresser said stripping out the colour will fry and damage my hair a lot (its not in very good shape to begin with since i dye n straighten my hair alot!) She suggested adding dark brown and caramel highlights to my hair, and then re-highlighting my hair again after a few months with blonde to get rid of the black. It's alot less damaging this way, and plus it will let me change my look twice! It will be expensive, but its worth it if u dont want to damage and mess around with hair again! Just my 2 cents...

recently dyed black hair

Postby Bad hair girl » Thu Jan 10, 2008 1:41 am

Okay so i dyed my hair a couple months ago to this "natural black" that looked natural, brown/black. It turned out jet black. I hate it soo much!

So like four days later, we tried dying it back to brown but it didnt work of course. So like a couple weeks later my cousin put auburn highlights in it then dyed it blond. It lightened alot and looks more brown. Plus my roots are coming in. But it is still pretty much black and i can't stand it anymore.

Is there a way i can dye it to brown again without bleaching or a salon? My mom is gonna try dying it this natural light brown tonight. will this work?

black hair - red!

Postby kittenmaximus » Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:36 pm

I had been dying my hair black for a good 4 years and I wanted to go bright red (pillarbox red). Went to my hairdresser and asked him to do this and it took 4 hours in total. He done a bleach bath first and then added the colour.

I had to have a couple of centimetres chopped off as the ends were a bit frazzled but it looks ace. Also, had to and still am giving it some really good conditioning treatments but yeah, well worth it and completely achievable.

Black to blonde though? I don't think you can do that! the lightest my colour went was orangey...

you can do black to blonde if you go to the hairdressers. for about £60.00, they will bleach your hair then use toners and foils which will make your hair a more natural shade of blonde.

oh no!
i have naturally very very dark brown hair, (almost black)
today i went to a professional quite expensive salon and had them dye it a light-medium brown. i wanted something very brown, with no redness.

it has come out rich auburn reddish brown colour, which is quite light and not what i want.
the dye they used was permanant, is it possible for my to dye over the top of it with a Permanant dark brown?

. wrote:i know this is probably a really retarded question..but its only PERMANENT black hair dye that needs to be bleached out, yes? Cos I was thinking of semi-permanently dyeing my hair black...it will completely wash out wont it?!?

My young daughter used a black dye on her beautiful auburn hair, we've
tryed every home remedy to get it out and nothing has worked. Black hair dye is the worst to get out, even semi-permanent. It has been almost a year!!! and the black dye is still there. And it was that wash out it 28 days crap (clairol I beleive) I am so pissed at the advertising for this crap. The warning says it may take a little longer. So be careful, black is not easy to get out.
