Hi
I'm sure you don't wanna hear my whole life story of how I've managed to screw up my hair, but I am in need of some major help. So does anyone know of a good dye that is likely to go over a permanent dark brown, which went too dark and now looks blackish?! I used Schwartzkopf Poly Colour Tint which was quite cheap - would anything more expensive and well known such as loreal or something go over the top?
I'm just trying to look for alternatives to bleaching or using a remover, any comments would be of great help. Someone put about using baking soda to maybe remove the dye, would it be possible to use either that or another dye?

blonde to black and back...

Postby Daryl Darko on Fri Jun 03, 2005 10:03 pm

i dyed my dishwater blonde hair black in october, and re-dyed it every 7 weeks thereafter - up to 3 weeks ago. (home dye kits). then the sun came out and i felt like going back to blonde. my ex-wife (beauty school grad 10 years back) said she'd do it for me. it took 3 boxes of home dye kits, one of which i know was a bleach kit, to get it back to a pretty bright-blondish color.

after the first kit, which was the bleach, my hair went orange. after the following two dye kits it is a rather yellowy blonde. i want to get it to look like a real blonde now. she said she will have no more to do with me, and i cannot afford to have this done professionaly. i will not cut my hair off (i've been growing it long for 2 years now and love it), plus all those chemicals did not really damage my hair that badly.

what shade of blonde dye do i need to use to cover/hide the yellow?

thanks,
daryl

Blonde highlights!

Postby Guest on Sun Jun 05, 2005 11:08 pm

Can anyone help me? i have brown hair with bleached highlights, does anyone know if it is safe to use a black semi-permanent colour on top? ive heard from my friend that the highlights may take on a different colour and even stain them as they are bleached, is this true? please help me! thank you.

i know this is probably a really retarded question..but its only PERMANENT black hair dye that needs to be bleached out, yes? Cos I was thinking of semi-permanently dyeing my hair black...it will completely wash out wont it?!?

hey!

around November last year i dyed my hair black. It was the kind of dye thats not permanent, but washes out after 28 days... well... 3 months later it had HARDLY come out. I still liked it so I re-dyed it black again with the same 28 days dye. Well, now im sick of the black so last night my mom helped my dye my hair over it, just to see if it would work which i knew it wouldnt. We put in the brown hair dye and when I washed it out it didnt do ANYTHING. It gave my roots a really nice color but then it was just... black. so then we tried the blonde highlights that came with the brown dye. When I washed it out, again it gave my roots a pretty color but then it was just black. I dried my hair and when I looked at it closer where the blonde highlights were in the black it was a dark redish brown color. right now, my hair looks like shiiiit. i wanted to bleach it until i read this. now im really confused and im mad that my hair didnt come out in the least way. What I was kinda hoping to do was dye my hair brown with blondish and dark brown highlights. and since the highlights that I DO have turned my black hair brown... if i dyed over that would it help? im sooooo confused right now. :( and i really hope that ill have all the black out of my hair by the time school starts again.

kthxbye<3

My hair is naturally a darker brown color and i dyed it blond and my roots were coming in and i wanted to dye it back to its natural color and put blonde highlights in it and so i dyed my hair a natural brown and it turned out darker than usual and i am scared if i put my blonde highlights in right away that it will fry it so should i wait until it lightens up a little or just go ahead and put the blonde in it??? Please write back asap

you can re-wash it and re-wash it over and over again, it'll lighten up some time

COLOR CORRECTOR

Postby I hate hair on Wed Jun 08, 2005 4:56 am

Its that simple. Use a color corrector ONCE to compress away the color molecules then use 15 VOL peroxide for 15 minutes afterwards.. Then take it from there.

DONT USE BLEACH

Postby CHIKNBLAK on Thu Jun 09, 2005 6:46 am

Dont use a bleach ... use a stipper like "one'n only color fix by Jheri Redding" you can pick this up at Sally's for 13 bucks.. it works really good!!! it wont turn ur hair blonde but it will get the black off ur hair. so ur hair will be easier to work with.. Trust me this works i dye my hair black all the time then i use this stuff.. just make sure u follow the instructions carefully this stuff could make u bald if ur not careful.. GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN

well i seem to have the same problem as must people here, i dyed my hair black about 8 months ago (permenent) and have doneit about 5 times since. i really really want white blonde hair (relise this isnt very likely) i have died a few streaks white blonde, took me 3 attempts with some bleach and now they are like elastic! im trying to fade it out, i tried baking soda, not good. i have heard fairy liquid, or dishwasher soap can fade it?, i also dont no whether to colour strip it myself, i relise it will go orange at first, but can i bleach it after this? or is it all going to fall out??? :(

My hair is black right now and I love it. But if you do get your hair stripped you need to follow it up with conditioning treatments and possibly wait until it is back to good condition before you color it again. Otherwise your hair will be a complete frizz of a wreck. You might need to remember that not all but some hairstylists are just in it for the money and dont really care about what its doing to your hair. You might want to make your own decision on it and not always go by what they say. But good luck with it. :)
