Even first cousins are legally and morally OK. Third cousins are so far removed there is hardly any blood link at all, and for many people they may not even know they are related, so this is really only an issue with close family.
Remember, third cousins mean you share one great-great grandparent (who in my case died in the mid 1800s). and only 1/16 of your potential genes are common, much less in reality. You probably share more with your neighbour. When it comes to the social side, how many families have any sort of ties to third cousins. I know who some of mine are by name, but I certainly haven't met any, and wouldn't know how to.
