wonder why that last person put "non" in front of his name - looks like it doesn't belong there.

Hey

Postby Lindy Linda » Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:49 pm

Ignore that immature person ''Non-Retard'', totally unprovoked and really not even worth talking about. Anyway, I passed my driving test 2nd time yesterday (12 minors  ) but a pass is a pass i guess. I think on the day it all comes down to your examiner, my first test i failed cos the examiner made me very nervous but 2nd time round a diffferent one made me feel relaxed. one thing, he gave me 3 points for not checkin blind spot but i kno i did it he jus didnt see me. All i can really say is, hang in there, dont give up, and take deep breaths on the day and try to physicall relax yourself. best of luck to anyone attempting a test soon! :D

Good luck Mmememe!

I used to be a driving instructor for a short while (anyone who knows me on this site might be surprised about that).

The bottom line is - if you can drive safely, you can do it. There's a lot of crap about examiners failing people for the hell of it, or because they've got quotas to fulfil. That's all bollocks!

It's true that some examiners are better than others at making you feel at ease, but the standard of their judgement is fairly consistent.

Most examiners are decent people who enjoy telling you you've passed - yes they are!!! So try to just concentrate on the road and as the cliche says "drive as you normally would'.

Good luck again and let us know what happens
It's raining today too.

I passed my 3rd test a couple of days ago. I can assure you that it is not all down to driving skill. It does make a difference what examiner you get. I failed my first for speeding (35 in 30) but thats fine as it was my fault. 2nd examiner was a major ba$tard and just kept marking down on his sheet even when I was just driving on a straight road! I was marked down a serious when coming out of a junction ,he thought I pulled out to quickly but I know I didn't as the car approaching was far enough away and was going very slowly. I saw this mark and thought ok then I will take my time and guess what? A mark for undue hesitation. He claimed that I kept 'kangarooing' the car whenever I moved off but I have never done this at any point while driving. Then he gave me a serious for following distance. I know that I was at the required distance because I could see the cars in front tyres on the road but the t.wat couldn't because his seat was leaning back and he was slouched down. At the test centre this pr1ck wouldn't even listen to my explaination and his attitude was appalling. Needless to say I called the test centres head examiner and she was very nice and understanding. She told me to write to the DSA and complain. I have since found out that this examiner will fail everybody regardless and also is not liked by any instructor or his fellow examiners. He has caused people to walk out of the test centre when he calls their name and has made people kick the car and instructors have also had blazing rows with him. They cannot understand why he is still an examiner but have come to the conclusion that he is on best behaviour when the DSA come in to check up on them.

3rd test was the 1st examiner and I passed easily (no speeding).

Do not be disheartned by faliure as it may not be down to you. You know if you really have messed up and know what to improve on so you should be able to pass next time. Good luck to all in the future.

It definetly depends on what instructor you have because some can be real picky at things that are unecessary, some look for just skill and others look for observation and skill , and a lot of other things I passed mine on my 4th or 5th try. this time I was not as nervous as the other times and I did eevrything perfect just 10 points for breaking abruptly. just know parallel, broken, right and left, stop signs, checking all mirrors , and lane changes. make sure you always observe evrything around you always yield to predesterians

I failed my first test today! I didnt even know i failed until i got back to the test centre and the phrase "Im sorry you ahve failed" Came out of his mouth! I failed because sitting at traffic lights. i was in the lane to turn left and there was a lane to turn right. they had traffic lights which where green but my filter light did not come on and so there i waited. Then mine came on and then finally went. I felt seriously gutted not for the fact I failed but for the fact te test wait is 9 weeks!!!

Postby Gutted Learner! » Tue Apr 22, 2008 10:50 am

i failed my test this morning, only had 3 minors but had 3 majors (which i was told could have been classed as minors if i had a diff examiner...aparantly i had the horrible 1)

1st 1 washit the kirb in turn in the road...fair enuf i deserved to fail that

2nd was a crash on main road and a big loory suddenly tried to get in front of me n i didnt stop, surely he shud av waited for me 2 slow down for him to get in?

3rd examiner asked me 2 pull in on the left, i did and he sed pull off, there was traffic coming up being me so i j=indicated and waited for a space, but because a car slowed down and flaashed me out i failed. my examiner said i souldnt cause anyone to slow down or stop....but wasnt it up to the utha car driver to stop?

jus want some feed back to what people think!

it is so difficult to get a licence as you are being taught to pass their test not being taught to drive. i have been driving for a few months now and i WOULD fail my test at least a dozen times a week because i drive to the rules of the road now not the rules of the highway code. for example, driving back from work last night i met an oncoming car at a crossroads, the highway code says we should pass offside to offside but EVERYONE and i do mean EVERYONE passes nearside to nearside. if i had been on a test last night i would have failed regardless of my skills or decision i would have been damned if i did and damned if i didnt. another example is the flashing of headlights, in the highway code it means beware i am coming through, in daily use it means the exact opposite. its unfair that we are taught contrary to the rules of the road as it makes passing the test a game of chance in many situations.
