If you do stall on the hillstart, pull on the handbrake quickly so that you dont roll back and you'll only get a minor. Thats what I was told anyway. As long as there arent any cars right behind you you'll be fine :)

Passed!

Postby Clare003 on Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:56 pm

I've just passed finally! did not stall on the hillstart in the end thank God!

By the way a quick note to anyone having problems with reversing round corners ... I didn't just hit the curb in my test I went right up on to it but got away with it because I corrected it quickly. I was so sure I had failed for that I nearly terminated the test but thought it would be a waste of ANOTHER £50 ... then got back to the centre and was told I had passed!

It really all depends who you have on the day, I'm sure my 2nd examiner would have failed me for the corner. No matter how bad you think you've messed it up DON'T end the test early - you might just have got a nice guy who'll let you off!

wow, umm, give up? Sorry, thats what I would have done by now. I am going to be on my second attempt at the start of may and will be quitting driving if I fail again since it's all coming out of my pocket. Since Im going to be a student officially after september, there's no way I can afford to keep taking tests. Good luck in your next one whenever it may be

yeah, they can only really give you a serious fault on something that could have caused an accident and you wouldnt have been reversing round a corner where there was a kerb and if there was no-one walking on the pavement they couldnt fail you for bad observation.

I failed mine on going slow on country roads which is fair enough and now I can drive at 60mph even on the bumpy bits cos I worked on it lol.

yeah, that's a good point. I suppose I have spent a lot of money on it all but I think I'd have to leave it for a while due to not being able to physically afford it. I think I'd rather eat than drive lol

Are international driving tests or what not THAT much harder then the US? I passed my driving test in rush hour traffic, no problems, questions or concerns in one shot. Same goes for my friends. What is so much different in other tests that people fail 4/5 times...? I believe in the US you can ONLY fail 3 times within a year and then you have to wait until trying again.

To be honest I think they are making the tests a lot more about mirrors etc but in a way I think it might just be a lot of people getting nervous. True, I didnt like the invigilator, but only because he told me I'd failed. I failed of my own accord, had nothing to do with the examiner being picky or anything, and I have worked on what I didnt do right so hopefully second time will be easier.
