I suppose because theres no sexual element with women, after all whens the last time you heard a woman say they got horny wearing y-fronts

Plus for women there is no taboo, because unless they dress like a very butch lesbian no one is going to notice they're wearing blokes clothes

Wearas a bloke in a dress is always going to stick out like a sore thumb

Yes. I like wearing trousers and mens shirts no one bats an eyelid. My mother was into her 60s before she ever wore trousers (slacks) and my grandma never wore trousers. It just wasn't done. Attitudes to women in trousers have changed. Perhaps attitudes to men in skirts and dresses will change in time too. Needs some brave guys.

By the way, kilts are not skirts and women don't wear real kilts but kilted skirts. Kilts are male attire and very sexy particularly when worn by a real Scotsman. You know the old joke. Woman to highlander "Is anything worn under your kilt?" Highlander to woman. "No maam. Everything's in full working order. Nothing's worn at all at all."

I know probably why I prefer wearing a tartan mini skirt to a kilt, it just feels better

Yes a real kilt is very heavy with yards of material. Originally they were an all in one garment which went round the middle and over the shoulder. Of course in some of the Southern * islands men wear skirts. It looks odd to see a man in a business suit with a skirt but it works for them!

That's like saying wood floats. A duck floats. Therefore ducks must be made of wood. Perfectly logical but still wrong!

And everyone knows that if... she... weighs... the same as a duck,... she's made of wood and therefore a witch

A witch! A witch!...

Strange, but it won't let you write "P a c i f i c" without the spaces. It displays ".".

I think the opposite is more likely true. If women were as socially constrained in what they wear as men are they would understand some of the limits society puts on men!

My thought on the subject

Postby Cherry2468 » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:42 am

I realize that this is a very old thread, but it's kind of interesting so I'll add my thoughts. A lot of women say that if a man dresses like a woman he is some kind of freak or needs psychiatric help or something. Those same women dress like men regularly. Go figure. A woman dressing like a man and a man dressing like a woman are both exactly the same thing, except in the way that most of society perceives the two. In that way they are different. In reality, there is no difference at all.

Some would say it is down to the old fashioned roles of a male being the head of the family and it’s OK for the woman to aspire to that role and incorrect for a man to aspire to the lesser role of a woman. It was only a few years ago (around my great-grand parents era) that a woman’s place in society was extremely suppressed which may be why today’s society still won’t accept men wearing woman’s cloths, its within living memory and grand parents pushing their views down through the family.

Personally, I can’t see what the problem is. It’s just material and a man putting on a dress does not make him a woman but a man in cloths that aren’t cut to fit him!
