hair shedding

Postby meechelle on Mon Jan 02, 2006 5:07 pm

what technique are you using???? has this happened before?? how long have you used the product for?? is it your hair or clients??

if it s a glue gun method, the problem sounds like it is the technique. it sounds like your creating 'shoelace' bonds - this means they are sealed on the outside and not in the centre. the way to correct this is to make sure the glue is pushed through completely BEFORE you start rolling. I'm completely experienced with Hairaisers ( and have not been disappointed! ) and am an extentionist of many years! The hair will only shed with poor application - it could even be you're not using enough glue or simply too much hair! please let me know your thoughts....

if they are prebonded extensions, then perhaps it is a melting problem - either melting too much and not sealing correctly, or not melting enough?

hmmn im intrigued - do give me some more information! i want to help!!!

Hi, thanks for your reply....I am using the glue gun method, I have only been using this hair for about 6 weeks and I am using it on clients who have had extensions for ages. As soon as I started to use it the problem started. I am not having this problem with other hair that I am using from other company's.

I have been doing extensions for 9 years and have never had this problem. I know about shoelace bonds and I don't think this is the problem. I am always very careful to make sure that the glue is pushed through, making sure the hair is coated before rolling and sealing.

I have not been using the Hairaisers glue, so I am not sure if that might be the problem. Does this hair have a coating on it, as I have noticed it is very soft . I have been very happy with the hair quality and would love to carry on using it.

I can't understand why I am only having this problem with the hair from Hairaisers and not anywhere else.....Do you think it might be the glue ?? I have been using Racoon glue.

Look forward to your reply!!!

hairaisers extensions

Postby meechelle on Tue Jan 03, 2006 11:23 am

after 9 years its probably not your technique!!!!

I can tell you for a fact the Hairaisers glue is stronger than racoon. I've had both methods in my hair, and the Hairaisers glue does not go as soggy as the raccon does. I also have minimised all my shedding as a result!

potentially it is best not to mix systems! the hair and glue are designed to work together. the other consideration is the type of hair you use - what racoon call european is hairaisers 'remi' hair. if you use hairaisers 'euro type' you are using racoon's standard equivalent - however the hairaisers quality is far different!!!

hope that helps!

Hi, the longer you leave them the worse they will get. I would suggest if you really can't afford to take them out, you should get one of your friends to help you.....You need to section the hair off, start from the bottom, using acetone, apply it to the bond.Make sure you use a cotton wool pad under the bond to stop any drips and something that will crunch the bond to dissolve it. Once the bond has come out you will find that there is hair that has come out naturally that will need teasing out from the bond area.(this depends on how long they have been in) When you sheds naturally there is nowhere for the hair to go, this is the hair you will need to remove. This might be a long process for your friend(a couple of hours).Hope this helps!!!!

Hairaiser Problem with shedding

Postby Inextenso on Thu Jan 26, 2006 9:11 am

Hi we are an experienced Hair Extension Salon, and we have the same problems with shedding on this hair in Racoon bonding. Thanks for the tip about getting Hairaisers bonding, as I am sure that the polymer coating is not compatible also.

We use The Hairaisers weft hair for sewn in weave and it is fantastic. Often our clients can use the hair for 6 months. We use the Clynol Hydrate products with it, and clients are taught how to care for it superbly.

If anyone would like to learn a super neat and discrete method of sewn in weft application for this type of hair, I charge £300 per day.

hair extension advice

Can anyone help me I recently had extensions put in & I love them, the only problem is they never seem to feel the same when I wash them compared to salon, I use keracare products to wash them & the protection sprays when drying & straightening but they still feel thick & dry, also which are the best straighteners to use as I have got SCP tourmaline mk5.

racoon

Hi, I 've had racoon extensions put in , the stylist put loads in , my hair was really thick , after 6 weeks most of the hair has shed and I have lost quite a few whole extensions too , it seems i'm losing masses of hair all the time , she has told me its just because we put more than the normal amount of hair in? but surely I should'nt be shedding all the time ? plus the glue seems to have gone soft in places , is there any way to stop this ? Any help advice , general info would be great ,thanks

Hi Jeany! I know exactly how anxious you are feeling. I had raccoon extensions put in for my wedding and I was really worried and scared that I may be making a really big and costly mistake, that was 2 months ago and I still have them in today! I never thought that I would enjoy having extensions so much, in fact I was sure that I would be having them removed straight after the wedding. The hairdresser that put mine in did a fantastic job and apart from the expense, I wouldn't hesitate to have them done again. I say go for it as long as you are confident in the person who will be putting them in for you. If they know what they are doing, you shouldn't be able to see the glue and they should match the colour of the extension hair to your hair so that no one will be able to tell that you are wearing extensions. Good luck!

Make sure you go to a reputable salon and take a look at their before and after pictures to make sure they are good at what they do.

I must say i have had raccoon in before and they were a nightmare, they shead like mad and drove me totally crazy, the glue is not very strong, but Raccoon do say it is one of the kindest glues on the market so you really have to weigh up the pros and cons.

I would suggest paying that bit extra and going for the European hair rather than the Standard as the standard is terrible. I have been weraing extensions for 10 years and i just simply could nt control the Standard Hair.

why would you have second hand hair glued in? Only because your hairdresser has no skill land has given you a cheap mehod with poor results.

How much did you pay for thsi?
